The Second Chance of Reincarnator
Chapter 114: Coggate's Black Market
"A blocker artifact? Those are really rare. I know there are some Cursed Artifacts, but of course, they always come with side effects."
Melia said.
"Lord, that is the type of artifact that every Blessed One would like to get their hands on. Money is not enough to acquire such an item."
Alec said.
"Does that mean that there are artifacts such as that?"
Aren asked.
"…There is. But they are exceedingly rare and difficult to find."
Alec said.
"I don't know where you could find something like that. It's also a risky item to be in possession of as if someone tries to see your Mind Image, but they get blocked, then they realize that you're in possession of something extremely valuable.
"They will try to rob you and kill if need be."
Morgana said.
"Unless you get your hands on Transformer. It's an artifact that lets you change your Mind Image to deceive people. It's also rare, but a little bit more common than blocker."
Rune said.
'…That would be perfect for me. When I use the Human Flesh Mask, the only thing that stays the same is my Mind Image. If I can change it with my disguises, it would literally be perfect.'
Aren thought and then asked.
"Where should I begin my search? That Transformer does sound like something that I would like to get my hands on."
"Here in the Realm Between is one place. There are all kinds of Cursed Artifacts, treasures, and ordinary artifacts that you can find in the wild, but of course, that requires you to walk into the fog.
"Unless you find a gateway that'll take you outside the Shattered Peninsula.
"There are always some places in Whitesky, like the Rav'akari ransacked ruins, where one can find ancient relics, and then there are also shady merchants."
Alec said.
In that moment, Eron scratched the back of his black hair and then raised his arm before saying.
"I think the best bet for you right now is Coggate's Black Market. You can find anything there, such as Cursed Artifacts… blessed weapons, and… even slaves if that's what you desire."
Behind the masks, everyone's expressions turned slightly sour, as they had all heard about Coggate's Black Market.
They hadn't really visited that place, as it was a place of true darkness of the human heart. It's where laws, ethics, and morality were thrown out the window.
Slaves! Drugs! Forbidden weapons! Cursed Artifacts!
There was no telling what one might find in Coggate's Black Market.
'…Coggate's Black Market?'
Aren looked surprised, as this was his first time hearing about it.
While his knowledge about Coggate was lacking, he thought it was a farming city with very little crime.
In the outskirts of Coggate, farmlands stretched as far as the eye could see. Cows, horses, and pigs roamed freely, creating a peaceful and idyllic scene.
"You can go to Coggate's Little Giant's Street. In there, you can find the Betrayer. If you pay him, he will take you to the Black Market.
"However, remember, in Black Market, nobody can be trusted, and especially the Betrayer. Hell, his name is the Betrayer. That is like the biggest red flag, so be very careful.
"If you aren't careful, you might be enslaved and sold to some dirty old man who will treat you like a piece of furniture."
Eron said.
"My lord… I don't think that is a good place to go to."
Melia said.
Aren weighed his opinions, and as it seemed like now, it did seem like that was the place to go to at this moment.
"I appreciate it. I'll think about it."
Aren said with a smile.
In that moment, the meeting concluded, and they started heading out of the graveyard's gateway.
Before leaving, Melia did one more time warn Aren, as she knew the potential danger that was in Coggate's Black Market.
She believed that Aren was an easy target, as he was just a level 2 Blessed One. He was a very attractive target, and she was certain that he was going to meet some trouble.
Aren was grateful for her concerns, but he had already made up his mind and just told her to not worry.
They then both left through the gateway.
…
Monday morning, at 32 Temptation Avenue.
"You're leaving?"
Agnes asked in surprise while she was brewing some crimson tea on the stove.
Even though she was blind, she had memorized where everyone needed to brew crimson tea, so she could do it all by herself.
After all, way before Aren came here, she was already mostly living alone and was able to get through her days without any caretaker.
"I will be away for a couple of days. I did get some work, thanks to you, Madam Agnes."
Aren said with a smile and rubbed her shoulders before asking whether she was going to be alright alone.
"Oh yes, I will be fine. Be careful, the Long Roads have been so dangerous lately, as these wretched Rav'akari seem to multiply!"
She said with a deep sigh.
"I am not taking the Long Road. I will be going with a steam locomotive, it's much safer that way, and I will be out of harm's way."
Aren said.
"Right, the steam locomotives… It's hard to believe that creating something like that is even possible. Earthlings sure are smart."
Madam Agnes said.
She could still remember the days when travel between cities was only possible by either walking, on a horse, or by carriage.
Now there was a steam locomotive that was the fastest and safest way to travel. She thought that maybe soon enough they would be traveling through air, wouldn't that be fascinating!
"I could take you on a trip with a steam locomotive some day. Quick visit to the neighboring town, and back. It's just a quick few-hour trip!"
Aren said.
"I don't know… I like keeping my feet on the ground. I also cannot see, so I don't think I can fully experience the wonders of the steam locomotive.
"I would only feel the thing moving under my feet!"
Madam Agnes said with a deep sigh.
"Maybe after your Smog Blindness gets cured. Whitesky's apothecary field is improving every day, and I am sure there will be a cure one day."
Aren said, kissed her on the forehead, and then waved goodbye before heading out of the house.
With a smile, Madam Agnes shook her head, as she had given up a long time ago on potentially being cured.
