CHAPTER 28: KISSES WITH CONSEQUENCES

"What is that?" I whispered when Luca stared at me, he handed me a necklace, it looked elegant and beautiful yet not heavy to stay on my neck, I loved the way it looked yet I didn’t dare say the words.

"You will wear this."

"So the wolves would know that I belong to you." I breathed out and he shook his head, his eyes were on mine when he stood behind me, he placed the item on my neck, he won’t tell me why.

"I would not touch you unless you want me to but you will stay in my room, you will always be here." He spoke and I didn’t know what to say.

It’s a huge step for me, I would have to see him all the time.

"My family." I breathed out.

"They would be rescued." He spoke and I nodded.

He held his end of the promise, I knew he would, as he moved away from me, I could hear some noises coming from the hallways and Luca wasted no time heading there, I got there with him.

"You better have a good reason for any of this," Luca spoke, his mind filled with anger as he stared at them, they halted at me for a second, this is about me.

Instead of feeling scared, it felt like I was embraced with warmth and I was in a safe place, it felt like I would sleep peacefully without having to worry about one of his wolves coming to hurt me.

I pressed my ears against the door, listening in on their conversation, the way he defended me, reminded me of the time I attended a party with Conrad and he didn’t say a. Single word in my defense; he didn’t seem to care about that because all he had to tell me was,

Luca stood for me against his pack and it worried me, because I am hiding something important from him.

If his wolves are angry about the fact that we are together, he needs to know someone wants to help me out of here, I felt like I owed it to him, he showed me a part of him I had never seen before and it’s my turn.

Without saying a word, I headed into my room and I could feel him walking behind me, the hallways quiet and lights dimmed.

Our feet pressed against the floor as we reached my room.

"What are we doing here?" He asked when I reached the nightstand and the letter was gone.

I felt my breath hitch as I started to find it like someone who had lost something of grave importance. My heart was beating against my chest and my eyes were filled with questions.

"Olivia," Luca called holding my hand when he pulled me closer to him, my eyes met his for a second, and I glanced at him without having to say a word. "What are you looking for?."

"It’s not here, don’t worry about it."

"You tell me, what are you looking for?" He asked again, his hand getting a little comfortable on mine.

"It doesn’t matter Luca, you would not believe me if I told you about it, it doesn’t matter:" I yelled.

"That’s for men to decide." He spoke and I nodded.

"Someone slipped a letter in my room, I have no idea who it was, but it was on my bed when I found out, it says he will help me leave the house but I have to meet him under the tree by eleven pm, tonight, I was never going to agree to that."

"Why?" Luca asked, his eyes were on mine, awaiting the answer that I had, why didn’t I want to leave?

"Because a wolf that can go behind his Alpha and make a decision, is a wolf that can betray me too, he would hurt me and he would do worse to me, he was going to make a decision that would hurt you, how could I know he would not do the same to me, I am not stupid Luca, I see things, I read through things and I know that I kept that letter on my nightstand, now I can’t find it." I breathed out.

"Come with me," Luca said, he didn’t say a word instead he led me back into his room. And he pressed a hidden panel that led to another room, how many of those did it have?

It was a CCTV room, and he wanted to see who it was.

"You don’t believe me."

"I do, but someone is trying to hurt you and my pack, they don’t want you here."

"Then just let me go," I said and he stared at me.

"You don’t understand do you, your body, your soul, he’ll even the air you breathe is mine." He spoke, his tone hitching at every word and I felt my heart fill with fear.

"I-" I was unable to speak, what could one say to that, he would never want me to say I am not his, he would disagree but right now I need him to know I am not crazy, I am not stupid and I didn’t make any mistake, I didn’t imagine anything, it did happen and I did read that letter.

I watched as he played the footage from today and yesterday, it started with one of yesterday, when I slipped into his office and he looked away from me then we saw it, a man heading into my room.

"Where is the rest?" I whispered, it was blank, he didn’t say a word, instead he reached for the other footage and it was the same, a man walking into my room when I was with Luca, and his face didn’t show and that was it.

"I don’t know who that is but he did that, the guards are not allowed to be knot my door unless you tell them to right?" I whispered and he nodded.

"I am the only one allowed in your room, if they are asked to call you, they know the rules, stand by the door, and deliver the message." He spoke and I nodded.

Then why did he walk into my room? And Luca didn’t tell anyone to come find me today and yesterday, yesterday he was not home and when he was, he found me snooping in his office and today, we have been together for most of the time, no one would be asked to get me.

"You don’t think I am lying do you?"

"No, but someone is and I am going to punish them for doing that, I am going to make them pay for what they have done and I will make them suffer if they think they are about to mess with my pack." He spoke and I nodded.

I could tell he is angry but someone is looking to hurt me, someone wants me gone, it could be someone or many people, it could be anyone.

"Fuck." He breathed out when I placed my hands on his, I know what it feels like to be betrayed by someone you think is your own, I know what it feels like to betray someone that you think is there for me, it has happened to me a few times and it made me scared. For Luca, this could be the first time.

"It’s fine Luca."

"Is it not, someone wants you dead? And I have no idea who that person is, he could be walking around the fucking house, working with my enemies and I have no idea, he could have all the access to everything and I have no idea." He yelled. "All I can feel is anger and anger building up inside of me, making me writhe with pain." He yelled again.
