CHAPTER 88: I WILL DO EVERYTHING TO PROTECT HER

"My uncle tried to harm me, and my mate and she could have died because of him, she is still unconscious and suffering because of him, the man he sent was going to through us off the cliff, before any of you could have come to find me, I would have been dead, how long did it take for you to find me?." I asked Ares.

He glanced across the room before he spoke. "Thirty- minutes." He said and I nodded.

"When you came to find me, I was covered in blood, half of it was mine, my leg was broken, it’s still broken. And I am walking with crutches like an old man, if Patrick men were hidden inside the bushes waiting to make sure that we are dead and they find out we are dead, tell me what could have happened." I asked.

"Luca- tell me, Ares." I breathed out. I didn’t want to listen to his excuses, he wanted me to be tough, I will be tough, he wants me not to have any empathy then he has no idea what he has wished for.

"They would attack you and Olivia and you have no weapon with you, you would be dead, they will drag your body with them to show Patrick or maybe keep it there for us to find, they may not kill Olivia, because I know your uncle and he may want to make her suffer just for being with her." He explained.

"I would have been killed, but I was not, the chances of being alive are lower than any one of you count, my uncle didn’t want me at the place because he didn’t want anyone to know that he was behind the attack, what no one can prove is that he did it. Because that’s what he will say, he was nor there, the men that we kidnapped didn’t even say a single thing about him, he wants a clean slate because no one would worship him if he is the one that killed the Alpha, but we all know what my uncle is behind and I am highly disappointed in all of you, today I would have been dead, and what could any one you do, blame each other, separate and cause war amongst yourself make it even easier for my uncle to come and take over." I explained.

"We are sorry," Ares whispered and I rolled my eyes at him, I didn’t need his apology, what I needed was that, I needed them to be better than they are, I don’t like excuses and this time, I can’t even allow any room for that.

"This is what’s going to happen, you need to be better, I thought about it and my uncle could have more army than we think. Do you realise what that means, when I die, he would not keep any of you alive, if you disobey he will kill you, ie he feels like you will hurt him, you are dead, all he needs is my properties, my amenities, and the connection that I have." I breathed out.

I hated him even more than any of them do, They have no idea how much it annoys me to think about the fact that he is alive.

"Jamie betrayed us, he didn’t tell us about this, no one will make it look or sound like we were disappointed in him or that we know that he betrayed me, we pretend to trust him no matter what, that’s what he wants, you two," I said pointing to, two guards by the end of the room.

I watched as the two guards headed toward the middle of the room, and all the guard stared at them.

"You will leave now and keep an eye on my uncle’s home, and make sure that the other guard we stationed is safe and there is nothing wrong with him." I addressed them and they nodded. "You two," I spoke again as another two headed further into the room.

I need to work fast and I need to work smart, and I have to make sure that I will make sure that Olivia will be safe.

"You will find me other properties that may belong to my me or any gangs that he use to be friends with or had any relation with in the past and make sure you find out if there are any properties that belonged to his wife that may still be in use and make ire that you find out if there are any abandoned houses close by, he should have a place he keeps his army and I have a feeling, it’s not his house," I stated and they nodded.

"Wait, you two go with them, it would make the job even faster and easier and I don’t need any complains," I explained and they nodded.

"That would be it. Keep an eye on the house and don’t do anything I didn’t approve of, I will be sure to make sure that I give out any information if it becomes necessary but for now, Ares come with me, I have an even better job for you." I said and he nodded.

I don’t need the men. Thinking that we are having issues, this is not the time for it.

"Do you have a job for me Alpha?" Ares asked and I looked away from him, I didn’t but I have to find something for him to keep him busy and away from my Olivia.

"I need you to make sure the premises of the house are safe, and make sure that the guards are placed in the right place, I need the system to be changed. And it should be changed after review in six hours, I will create a new security system before the end of the day and I will let you know." I said

"You don’t trust me," Ares asked and I stared at him, I am not scared of him, I am not worried that he will think so, and the reality it didn’t matter to me anymore.

"You always proved to me that your loyalty is not mine, and it belonged to the pack, it means only one thing, you will do all it takes to ensure the safety of the pack and well that’s good, it’s even more perfect because the well being of the pack is all that matters but what it means is that, if you start to feel like I am not a good leader, I can lead us to our doom, then you would ensure that I am firm, you will do all you can to turn against me too, because the pack is all that matters to you."

"Luca I would never- I don’t want to hear it," I said cutting him off, my eyes were on his. "It doesn’t matter now, what I want is for us to try and work together to get it over with, this is too important to me and I hope that it would be to you too, it doesn’t matter what will happen after the war is over, it doesn’t matter what will happen if Olivia and I would leave, it doesn’t matter if you don’t agree with the terms of my rulership; what matters is that, you stand by me during it, you can hate on me, hate on my ways when it’s over."

"I will stand by you Alpha, you may not trust me but I know that you are the only person who can take all of us to victory, I know that you are the only person who will make sure that we will not be defeated and a poison like your uncle will be gone." He said and I am tempted to roll my eyes at him yet I didn’t do that.

All I did was give him a nod, we have to win, and we can only do it if we are working together, if we have nothing to worry about like betrayal, and because we need to be sure that everyone and everything will be fine at the end.

I glanced at him and I gave him a final nod.
