The Smiling Death
Chapter 62: Easy Fight
CHAPTER 62: EASY FIGHT
The night was still. The town was silent under the full moon. In one of the streets of the town, there were four people about to clash.
The air in the surrounding trembled.
A huge spear of light started to be conjured in mid-air, brightening the dark street.
Both hooded figures dashed at Amon and Vixra.
The spear of light was thrown at the incoming enemies.
The spear resonated with the air as it moved with lightning speed.
One of them bent his knees and jumped high above the spear, while another slid down on the street.
BOOM!
But it was useless. The spear exploded with heat in midair. Its impact sent both figures to collide against the wall.
"Oh! How did you do that?" Amon asked Vixra in surprise. He was shocked at how the spear of light suddenly exploded in midair.
"Well, I will explain it later to you. For now, focus on them. The attack didn’t have much effect on them."
Amon turned his focus on the enemies.
Both guys got on their feet immediately after colliding against the wall.
Dash!
The person with a sword dashed at Amon with inhuman speed, while the other attacked Vixra.
Vixra moved back, getting away from Amon. Believing he could handle the other one, she started to conjure a spell at the figure holding daggers.
Amon also didn’t just stand still.
He put pressure on his right leg and pushed himself forward.
His gun tugged in his waistband while a hatchet appeared in his left hand.
Clung!
Metal met metal. Again, the enemy had the upper hand in strength. Amon swung his hatchet quickly.
A silver line was drawn as it collided against the blade.
At the same time, he thrust his sword at the enemy’s heart, but a kick connected to his guts as he staggered back. Sudden pain exploded in his stomach from the kick.
Boom! Boom!
At that time, Vixra was throwing multiple spells at the other enemy. It was hard for the dagger user to get close to Vixra. For Vixra, it was an easy match. But she was worried for Amon.
Meanwhile, Amon’s opponent was no easy foe.
The enemy didn’t waste any time and moved his sword to kill Amon. His sword slashed in a diagonal trajectory, ready to bisect Amon’s neck.
Amon ducked barely, avoiding the slash, and jumped backward, balancing himself again.
But this time, his leg was caught by a shadowy hand. His enemy, also being a shadow element user, had used the spell on Amon.
"Tsk!"
Amon clicked his tongue.
He used a mana bullet on the figure closing toward him.
He extended his palm, gathering the loose mana around his finger. The air rippled as the energy condensed, shrinking into a tiny sphere no larger than a bullet. The pressure was immense, humming like a heartbeat trapped in glass.
Bang!
The figure who was rushing fast sidestepped and barely avoided it, giving Amon enough time to break free from Shadow Clutch.
His left hand moved at the speed of lightning.
A blue trajectory formed as the hatchet tore through the air.
Clung!
"Ahh!"
Blood spilled.
It stuck in the enemy’s right shoulder, digging into his flesh. The hooded figure gritted his teeth and pulled out the struck hatchet, throwing it aside.
Clink!
He heard a metal object falling near his leg.
He looked down. There was a black-colored metal ball. Before he could understand what it was,
BOOM!
The grenade exploded.
"Ahhh, bastard!" Pain emitted from the enemy’s mouth.
Amon rushed at him. He bent and lifted the hatchet from the ground.
Both sword and hatchet gleamed with mana. Amon’s pulse was beating fast. His eyes were sharp. He was going for a kill this time.
Smoke slowly started to fade as the figure with a tattered hood appeared, coughing blood, still holding his sword.
Amon raised his hand as the hatchet left his palm.
Whoosh!
It was faster. More deadly.
The mana-enforced hatchet made a blue straight line through the dark street.
The injured man, who was barely regaining his senses from the explosion, was late to notice.
Stuck!
The sharp, curved silver blade again stuck at the same place, digging deeper into his flesh. A hot spike of pain shot through his side.
"Ahhhhh!" This time, the scream was louder. The figure fell on his knees, the sword leaving his grip and meeting the ground.
He looked up only to see Amon already upon him, the sword held tightly by his right hand at the back of his left shoulder. There was a huge grin on Amon’s face. The glowing blade came down. The blue arc of light cut through the air.
Shhhkk!
Thudd!
The head lifelessly rolled across the street.
On the other side, the dagger user lay injured on the street. He was not dead but also was not able to fight anymore.
"Hah..hah!"
Amon gasped for air. He had used too much mana. It was a quick but hard fight. The enemy was already hurt by Vixra’s light spear.
He turned his eyes toward Vixra, just standing some distance away from him, near the laying figure on the street. There was not a single scratch on her beautiful skin.
"Sigh.." He sighed and slowly moved toward Vixra.
"Is he alive?" Amon asked while observing the figure.
His hood was already burnt. Short curly brown hair, tanned oily skin, looking around twenty three years old.
"Yes. He is. We need to know what’s going on after. So keep him alive." Her eyes sharpened, her voice tinged with urgency.
She knelt beside him and shook him.
"Hey. Wake up. Tell us why you were targeting Griford? What’s happening in this town?" Her voice was cold. It was the first time Amon was hearing her talk like that, unlike how gentle she usually is.
Her cold emerald eyes bore into him.
The man, who was barely alive, snapped open his eyes.
He tried to move away, but it was useless. His body was beyond broken.
Ribs broken. Skin burned and charred. His body filled with wounds and injuries as blood continued to flow.
His hazel eyes met Vixra and Amon’s. Fear gripped his heart.
Amon kicked hard on his face.
Thud!
"Tell us what’s going on, you son of a bitch!" he asked angrily. Fade up with a lot of bullshits.
"Ahhh!" The man screamed in pain.
Vixra didn’t stop Amon.
But suddenly, the man started to laugh.
"Hahahahah.."
And ominous and creepy one.
