CHAPTER 65: GOT ANSWERS!BUT NOT WHOLE TRUTH

Vixra knelt beside Amon and used a healing spell. The golden glow started to heal him. At the same time, Amon drank a healing potion.

Gulp!

The wound and slash on his body started to heal. The stinging pain dulled instantly, replaced by a gentle tingling that crawled through the torn flesh.

Before his eyes, the blood began to dry up, the raw edges of the cut knitting themselves together.

"Ahh!..hah!"

Both Vixra and Amon turned toward the voice. Their eyes locked on the figure of the scarred man leaning his back against the wall.

He was still breathing. Barely. Blood flowed from his wounds. A big slash ran across his chest by Vixra. Hot blood flowed from it like a stream.

Amon grabbed his sword.

Vixra also stood back on her feet and readied to attack.

"He can’t fight anymore," Amon said. His voice cautious and wary.

Vixra agreed with him.

"Yes. Let’s ask him. He might tell us about the situation."

Amon listened to her quietly.

"Okay. But we need to be careful."

Amon retrieved his hatchet from the ground, holding it in his left grip.

Then,

They strode toward the injured man. Their steps slow and wary.

The man gazed up and saw two figures closing on him. His eyes were red. Bloodshot.

He didn’t try to move—just watched them getting closer.

When Amon and Vixra stopped in front of him, the man started to smile.Teeth bloodied.

"Kill me. What are you waiting for? If you have questions, don’t bother. I won’t answer them anyway. You will just waste your time." The man’s voice was hoarse. He breathed heavily. Still he talked.

There was no fear of death in his eyes. Nor did he care.

Amon raised his hatchet and brought it down in a straight line.

Shhkkk!

The curved silver blade tore apart flesh. It struck the man’s left shoulder, digging deeper into his flesh as he cried in pain.

"Aargh!"

A sharp crack of impact echoed through his bones. A wave of searing pain exploded through his body hot, violent, and blinding.

"Tell us. What’s going on in this town? Why were you trying to kill us? Why do children from the orphanage keep getting missing?"

The man hitched and groaned in pain, but didn’t utter a word.

Vixra gripped her wand tightly, seeing the scene.

Amon didn’t stop and pulled the hatchet out from the shoulder.

Shhkkk.

A wet tearing shkkk echoed as the hatchet pulled free from flesh.

Amon raised it again and struck his other shoulder.

"Aarghhh!" the man yelled.

"Now. Will you tell us?" Amon asked with a kind smile.

No reply just painful screams.

Amon raised his hatchet again and struck at his knees. Blood spilled. Bone-cracking sounds and the man’s groans mingled through the air.

Again and again.

His knees, elbows, shoulders were slashed again and again by the hatchet. Flesh continued to tear. Bones cracked.

Painful screams kept flowing through the night’s street. Tears started to run down the enemy’s eyes.

Blood continued to spill in the air. Amon’s uniform was also soaked in the enemy’s blood.

Still he continued his interrogation with the same kind smile.

Vixra watched from the side, shocked. She couldn’t believe her eyes. It was like her innocent junior was enjoying torturing this man.

"Junior, that’s enough," in the end Vixra intervened, not able to handle it.

Amon stopped his bloodied hatchet mid-air.

His eyes fell on Vixra’s worried and distorted beautiful face.

"Oh...it seems I went a little far." Amon gave a wide smile, scratching his cheek with a finger.

"Hah..hey, can you talk?" she asked the bloodied man.

The man slowly stopped whimpering.

"Tell us, what’s your name? Why did you take those children? For what ritual?" Amon asked angrily. His smile was now gone.

"Hah...hah...We have nothing to do with those children from the orphanage." The man answered after a long beating. His voice was low but enough to be heard.

"What? You still have the guts to lie!" Amon said loudly.

Vixra squinted her brows in confusion.

"My name is Rick and no...it’s true. The people of the town who had stopped still and dazed...that is our doing...but we have nothing to do with those children." the man continued.

Amon put his foot on the man’s thigh where the wind arrow had struck. He pressed it.

"So why did you do this to the town? What actually have you done?"

As Amon asked and pressed his foot on the man’s wound, he yelled in pain.

Then Rick started to laugh and talk.

"Aaargh!...hahaha! So we can sacrifice all these people and their souls to our lady! Hahaha! We had been planning this for the last whole month. To slowly mark and control all the residents of this town. It was done...but those who had recently entered the town have no effect. So we killed everyone who came recently. You were just one of them."

He stopped laughing and looked at both of them coldly with hatred.

"But it’s all right...you know why I decided to tell you this? Hehehe because the time has come and it’s inevitable. You all will die and be devoured by our lady...hehehe kill me! Torture me I won’t care anymore!"

Amon and Vixra felt uneasy hearing him.

Rick continued to yell with a smile. His eyes wide open and bloodshot.

’He’s gone now...It’s no use asking him anymore.’

Amon can’t tell if the man was spouting truth or lie. But there’s no reason to bother anymore. He can tell that Rick will no longer answer anything.

So,

The hatchet crushed Rick’s head.

Shhhkkk!

Blood flew as his head split from the hatchet blade.

"Ehh!" Vixra screamed cutely from the side. It was disgusting to see his head split after all.

"Was that necessary?" Vixra asked while rubbing her temples.

Amon just smiled. Pulling back his weapon, he put his sword and hatchet back in the storage ring. His expression turned serious.

"We should move back. If what he says is true, then we shouldn’t stay here any longer."

Vixra shook her head tiredly.

"Yah...let’s head back to the orphanage and wait for others."

Both of them were now uneasy with all the situation.

Amon nodded as they started to move, leaving the corpses behind.
