CHAPTER 83: ARE YOU SURE

Vacuse stared at Drenvar and then he asked slowly, "What are you talking about?"

"The Vorrakyn founder. He didn’t die here in our world. He went away with the Emperor at that time. The founding Emperor."

Vacuse shook his head. "I still did not understand."

Drenvar nodded. "I understand. The Vorrakyn and the Empire’s founder reached the highest rank they could reach as a Soulbearer. And... they went away.

"They ascended. They went to a higher world. Also, they were one of the longest living in this world and ruled the Empire the longest."

Vacuse was left stunned.

He remembered his conversation with the Void Dragon and how they talked about power and those who are powerful. The height of power.

’...so... this world is even too small to contain some power...’ Vacuse thought solemnly to himself.

"The Enchanted Dragon was the same and at the same time it wasn’t. The Dragon created an artifact that made it ascend instead of reaching its rank. It’s actually complicated and I don’t know much about it."

"Wait, wait," Vacuse said with a furrowed brow. "You kept mentioning the Dragon and not its Soulbearer."

Drenvar smiled. "You know, beasts at the level of Dragons are intelligent like humans and even more than humans in some cases.

"The Enchanted Dragon is a special case for us in a lot of ways. It’s the only Dragon that actually ruled the Vorrakyn as a Dragon Lord."

Vacuse had stopped getting shocked.

"His Bound is a Vorrakyn with disabilities. That was why everyone was surprised that it defeated the Blood Dragon. Anyway, it was the Enchanted Dragon that ruled.

"And it was known as one of the most powerful Dragon Lords in history."

Vacuse digested everything he had learned silently and he felt a chill.

Everything can’t always be as it seems.

Drenvar smiled. "Then let’s continue to the main reason I called you here today.

"When going, I want you to be wary of your uncle."

Vacuse raised his brows and he was tempted to ask which of his uncles since almost every Vorrakyn older than him could be called his uncle or aunt.

Technically.

Drenvar snorted when he saw the look on his face. "I’m talking about my actual younger brother. Directly from my father and mother. Your uncle.

"High Commander of the wilderness border, Rhydian Vorrakyn. Also known as the second most powerful person in the current Vorrakyn family."

Drenvar smiled wearily. "But that’s a lie. Based on technicality. He is the strongest but I am more powerful. Do you know why, Vacuse?"

"Because you are the Dragon Lord."

Drenvar nodded in satisfaction. "That’s right. The title of Dragon Lord comes with a lot of power in itself and if you add it to my powers then I am the more powerful.

"But based on raw strength, he is the strongest."

Vacuse understood what he was saying.

Rhydian Vorrakyn.

Vacuse didn’t have a lot of thoughts about the High Commander.

He was the Commander when Vacuse was in the wilderness and used as monster bait, but that was it. They didn’t have any personal interaction.

He also had no need to kill him.

But that was then, who knew what could happen now that he was Vacuse Vorrakyn, the Dragon heir?

"He is also one of the A-ranked Soulbearers in the family and he wanted the throne when I did," Drenvar’s face turned solemn. "Of course I got the throne but ambitions don’t die that easily. Be careful."

Vacuse nodded. Nobody really needed to tell him to be careful when that was all he himself cared about the most.

His life was the most precious thing.

"I will watch out for him," Vacuse promised.

"Right. You should find a way to get him to send more guards to follow you. But that bastard likely won’t do so. All in all, just make sure you return back alive."

Vacuse stood, clasped his hands together, and bowed. "I intended to do just so."

Then he turned and headed outside.

Drenvar stood still for a long time and then he drank from his cup. He spoke to empty air, "Do you think it’s possible?"

There was silence for a long time before a voice answered him. "It will be. But the formation will take a long time. I have checked out his body and soul. It is in good fit and it will be possible to do what you want with it.

"But. Are you sure?"

Drenvar smiled. "I am Drenvar Vorrakyn. I am sure."

The voice chuckled. "Alright then."

Two days later the ’diplomatic group’ moved out of Dragon Castle and passed through Kragthar.

It consisted of at least seven carriages.

The carriage in the middle was the largest, and it was made of black metal with bars on the windows. It was drawn by horses with horns and fangs.

The carriage was the one that Vacuse Vorrakyn and Ragna boarded while the other carriages carried supplies and the other diplomatic group.

Drenvar had sent a formal delegation to accompany Vacuse to help him out.

Both the members of the Dragon Guards and the New Dawn that followed him formed a wall of armor and steel around them. The bone riders also mounted their fearsome hayen monsters as they strode out of the city.

Vacuse’s personal flag—rising sun with a black Dragon curled around it—flew on poles and on all carriages.

In the whole world, only the Vorrakyn used the Dragon flag. And in the Vorrakyn, only Vacuse used the rising sun.

In a way, they were an army as they left the city behind and began their journey to the wilderness.

Because their group was big, they needed to move slowly and because Vacuse and the Warbines Clan heir were among them, they needed to move at a slower pace so they could run things through their scout.

The Dragon Guards were serious with the mission. Drenvar personally sent one of the A-ranked captains in the Guards to accompany them and they were even given the authority to disobey Vacuse if his life was in apparent danger.
