"You’re back too," Su Yanyi responded, her expression quite soft. She walked over to Qin Jiran and asked naturally, "What soup did you make? It smells really good."
"Ginseng Matsutake Soup. Mom sent over some ginseng, saying it was for both of us to replenish our health. I thought it looked good, so I stewed it. I made a lot, so I’m going to send some over to grandpa and our parents later," Qin Jiran had just tasted it and found it to be quite good. He was thinking of sending some to the elders to try as well.
"Mm, good. Is there anything else I can help with? I’ll help you," Su Yanyi, who was now quite adept at cooking, offered her help, even though she rarely did so. However, seeing her husband in such a domesticated state naturally gave her the urge to join in cooking together.
"There’s nothing much left to do. All the dishes are ready. Why don’t you help me carry them out, and I’ll serve the soup," Qin Jiran said with a smile, finding for Yanyi the lightest task.
Su Yanyi carried the dishes to the dining room while Qin Jiran divided the soup into two portions, a small one for the two of them and a larger one for the servants to take to the main building for the others to enjoy.
Then, the couple, who hadn’t been at home together for many days, had a wonderful dinner. Little Meatball and Little Tangyuan were also joyfully drinking their milk from their bottles. The babies had grown stronger and could hold their bottles steady, sitting in their strollers without needing any care from the adults. Both Mother Su and the servants who had taken care of babies before commented that these two were the easiest they had ever looked after. They were both so well-behaved and intelligent, endearing themselves to all the elders tremendously.
After dinner, Su Yanyi suggested taking a walk. Qin Jiran naturally had no objections, and they pushed the double stroller around the yard together. As they walked, they reached the big tree in the back garden. The tree had grown over twenty meters tall with a trunk that became incredibly thick. Its golden leaves looked almost unreal, extravagantly beautiful to the point of seeming surreal.
But before the family of four got close, they could see a happy group frolicking under the tree. In addition to Xiao Su Nuo, Little White, and Little Golden Turtle, there were also three Tibetan mastiffs gifted by a friend. However, they could no longer be called little mastiffs, as the few months old puppies had become quite substantial, merrily running around Xiao Su Nuo in evident joy.
"Our home really is becoming a zoo. This tree has also grown so robust," Qin Jiran remarked with some emotion. Not only the children had grown, but the little animals had also steadily grown larger. He was quite curious, though—although the puppies were Tibetan mastiffs and dogs were a given, seeing the small white tiger peacefully coexisting with the whole group was quite magical.
"Little auntie, little auntie’s husband, you’re here! And Meatball and Tangyuan too. Come and play with us," Xiao Su Nuo saw the family of four and immediately ran over to greet them cheerfully, bringing the whole group of little companions along.
Su Yanyi glanced over each one and finally turned her attention to Little Golden Turtle. To her surprise, the creature hadn’t grown at all despite being raised for so long—still a small little thing without any sign of growth. She wondered whether it was always going to be this size or if its growth was just extremely slow and imperceptible for now. However, Little Golden Turtle’s spirited little eyes hadn’t changed at all; they still looked amusing and funny as they whirled around animatedly.
Next to it, the white tiger Little White had grown quite a bit, but it still maintained a cool demeanor. It kept a certain distance from the other three Tibetan mastiffs, its approach exuding a laid-back aristocratic air. Of course, that was as long as one could ignore the Little Golden Turtle on its head; otherwise, the combined sight of the two would be even more comical.
