CHAPTER 512: CHAPTER 522: WHAT DO YOU MEAN

The next day, John Brown drove Melody Yoody and Little Grace to YODC City because Melody had to report to the City Council in the morning. They left City Center around four, and surprisingly, Little Grace was also up early. It was impossible to leave her behind.

There were only three people in the car. Little Grace sat in the back, leaning between the two front seats and grinning, saying, "Brother-in-law, I have something to ask my cousin. You don’t mind, do you?"

John Brown knew what she wanted to ask, so he chuckled and said, "Go ahead."

Little Grace saw that John truly had no objections and realized that Melody must be aware of the situation. Still, she asked, "Cousin, do you know Charlotte?"

Melody turned and gave John a look before replying to Little Grace, "How could I not know? Isn’t she your friend? You must be aware of her relationship with James."

Little Grace’s eyes widened in surprise, "Wow, cousin, you really do know? Then brother-in-law is keeping a mistress outside. You’re okay with that?"

Melody huffed, "I didn’t agree willingly, it’s just how it is."

"No way! If you disagreed, brother-in-law wouldn’t be so bold as to keep one, right?"

Talking about this made Melody irritated. She wasn’t even officially John’s wife; she was a mistress, and Charlotte was just the second mistress. Plus, that scoundrel John not only had Charlotte but also Emily Berns and Emma Campbell, making five in total. Oh, and Sarah Utah too, who had announced their relationship publicly.

Seeing Melody’s unhappy face, Little Grace stuck out her tongue and said, "Looks like you don’t agree much either, huh, cousin?"

Melody nudged Little Grace’s head, saying, "Why is a little kid like you meddling in so many things?"

Little Grace lifted her chin, "I’m not a kid anymore. Didn’t you notice my classmate Charlotte has become brother-in-law’s side chick? Can’t I date too?"

"Date my foot, if you dare to date, aunt will flay you alive."

Little Grace pouted. Her mother didn’t bother much about other things, but was strict on dating. In high school, her mother had instructed her teachers to keep an eye out and report if she got close to any boys, resulting in thorough interrogation sessions at home. Still, she grumbled, "That was high school; I’m going to college now and living on campus. She can’t control me then."

"Alright, alright, just mind your business and stay out of mine."

"I’m not meddling, okay? I’m just curious. And cousin, if you really don’t want brother-in-law with Charlotte, I’ll try to talk to Charlotte. Even though you’re my cousin and I’m on your side, I don’t want you to fight with my good friend either."

"Am I that kind of person?" Melody rolled her eyes in exasperation.

"When I was little, you used to bully me. Don’t think I don’t know you." Little Grace pouted again.

John couldn’t help but laugh. Back in high school, Melody was quite headstrong. Before they started dating, he had been on the receiving end of her temper more than once.

Melody, embarrassed, shot John a glare, "What are you laughing at? Think I’m too fierce?"

John laughed heartily, "No, no, I knew you were tough long ago. If you didn’t boss me around, I wouldn’t feel right."

Saying this, John gave Melody a lot of face, and she proudly said, "You need some discipline, and then you’ll feel good."

"Yes, yes, I still need you to keep me in line, Melody."

Watching the two of them, Little Grace felt even more puzzled. It looked like Melody had John in her grasp, yet how could John still maintain outside relationships? What kind of situation was this?

Little Grace wanted to ask more, but Melody closed her eyes, saying, "Sleep, sleep. It’s so early, and if you’re not tired, I am. I have to go to the City Council today, so don’t bother me."

Knowing that her cousin wouldn’t say more, Little Grace was a little reluctant but aware it was Melody’s big day, so she didn’t dare disturb her. She pouted and closed her eyes, and soon sleep caught up with her early excitement, and she nodded off quickly.

When Little Grace woke up again, it was John who called her awake, and she mumbled groggily, "Brother-in-law, are we there?"

"We’re here. Where are you heading now?" John turned back to look at Little Grace.

"My cousin’s already gone, so of course, I’m going to see Charlotte. Hurry and take me there." Little Grace got excited immediately.

John chuckled, "Alright then."

He took Little Grace directly to his old home. He had already informed Charlotte to be there and reminded her not to mention Gina Lopez. While Charlotte wasn’t completely obedient to John, she could be mischievous. However, she understood the importance of this matter and knew better than to speak about it now.

As soon as the two girls met, they joyfully hugged each other. Ever since Charlotte went with John to the Capital of SSUP, they hadn’t seen each other.

The two chatted noisily for a while. Charlotte tugged Emily Bailey to sit on the sofa and said with a smile, "Grace, what brings you here?"

Emily Bailey glanced at James Brown, rubbed her nose, and said, "Your uncle went to my grandfather’s house, so I came back with him."

"Went to your grandfather’s house? Wasn’t Uncle supposed to go to the City Center?" Charlotte looked at James Brown in confusion.

James Brown admired Charlotte’s ability to lie without batting an eye and said with a laugh, "I went to the City Center; that means I went to Grace’s grandfather’s house."

"What were you doing at Grace’s house?" Charlotte was puzzled.

Emily Bailey giggled and said, "Charlotte, do you know who your uncle’s official wife is?"

"Of course I know, it’s Melody Yoody, right?" Charlotte replied without thinking, rolling her eyes at James Brown.

Emily Bailey burst into laughter and said triumphantly, "So, do you know what Melody Yoody is to me?"

"What is she to you?" Charlotte widened her eyes.

"She’s my cousin, hehe. Your uncle is my cousin-in-law. If you want to become his mistress, you’d better make nice with me." Emily Bailey crossed her legs triumphantly.

Charlotte exclaimed in surprise, "Really? That’s such a coincidence!"

"Yes, it’s such a coincidence, hehe. Charlotte, this means we’re kind of like relatives."

"This counts as relatives? Okay, relatives it is. Big Sis Grace, you can’t ruin my plans."

Looking at Charlotte’s ingratiating demeanor, Emily Bailey felt even more pleased and said with a smile, "Well, let’s see how you do. If you do well, I’ll put in a good word for you so my cousin doesn’t give you trouble."

"Definitely, Big Sis Grace. Are your legs sore? Let me give you a massage."

"Hmm, that’s a good idea." Emily Bailey immediately put her feet on the coffee table, and Charlotte gently massaged Emily Bailey’s legs.

Watching them play around, James Brown smiled and said, "Alright, Charlotte, you take care of Grace. I have to head out."

"Okay, you go ahead with your business." Charlotte quickly agreed.

Emily Bailey said frankly, "I say, cousin-in-law, you’re just leaving us here?"

"Call me if you need anything."

"That’s not what I meant. I mean, aren’t you going to stay home with us?"

"I have things to do. You and Charlotte can go out for lunch. If you’re home in the evening, I’ll come by."

"Ugh, that’s so boring." Emily Bailey pouted, swaying her body, and said coyly, "Cousin-in-law, I’m not leaving today. I’m staying here."

Charlotte glared and said, "Why are you staying here? There’s only one bed. Do you also want to be Uncle’s mistress?"

Emily Bailey’s face flushed, and she playfully slapped Charlotte, saying, "What nonsense are you talking about? Unlike you and my cousin, I don’t see what’s so special about him."

Charlotte breathed a sigh of relief and said, "That’s good then. If you also wanted to be Uncle’s mistress, I’d be in trouble. Should I agree or disagree? You’re my good friend. If I disagree, that’s not very nice. But if I agree, my cousin won’t disagree, and then if there’s a fight, that’s troublesome."

"Come on, you don’t have the guts for that."

James Brown watched the two girls fooling around and chuckled, "Alright then, I’m heading out. Enjoy your time."

Emily Bailey didn’t dare say anything else at that point, fearing what Charlotte would say next. After James Brown left, the two stopped messing around and started chatting chirpily about various things, including many about Charlotte and Melody Yoody. Charlotte shared many embellished stories about her time with Gina Lopez with Emily Bailey.

Emily Bailey listened eagerly. As a young girl, she was also wistful about love at this age. Although the relationship between Charlotte, Melody Yoody, and James Brown was somewhat unconventional, it was fascinating to hear.

Moreover, there was another point: everything was quite normal on her father’s side of the family, but in the Yawk Family, her grandfather had three wives. Although they’re not around now, it’s no secret in the Yawk Family. Her mother’s generation was fairly normal, but among her own generation, some cousins, despite being married, kept women outside because of the family’s influence, so she was used to such things.
