CHAPTER 101: CHAPTER 100: A GOOD OMEN

She had been secretly following Gao Huifang and never thought that someone would be following her too. So when Ye Manman suddenly appeared, Yang Donglian was startled and worried for a good while, thinking that Ye Manman might have seen her as well.

Ye Manman patted He Chen’s shoulder, signaling him to put her down.

Just a moment ago, she was discussing with He Chen about whether or not to eat roast piglet during New Year, and here comes a woman bursting out with a little wild boar.

The wild boar coming out wasn’t strange, the strange thing was this inexplicable woman.

Where did she come from?

"I was nearly scared to death!"

Yang Donglian didn’t realize how much of a buzzkill her sudden appearance was, nor did she notice He Chen’s darkening expression.

She frantically ran behind Ye Manman and He Chen, hiding behind a tree while panting heavily out of fright.

He Chen easily caught the little wild boar, but was in a very bad mood.

Not only because this mysterious woman interrupted his intimate time with Ye Manman, but also worried whether this woman had been following them and discovered Ye Manman’s special ability.

Fortunately, Yang Donglian didn’t think that much. She thought her luck was just incredibly good.

Coming across a little wild boar on the mountain during the cold winter when there’s nothing else around felt like a gift from heaven, making her elated to the point of dizziness.

Now that the issue of the wild boar was resolved, Yang Donglian wasn’t afraid anymore. She stepped out from behind the tree and embarrassingly tidied her hair.

"I didn’t expect there to still be wild boars out in this dead of winter. My luck is truly amazing, haha."

Yang Donglian was genuinely happy. In their Knowledge Youth base, there was usually no meat to eat, and the Knowledge Youths never quite outdid the local rural folks in labor, so they ended up with less food in general.

The last time she had a big feast of meat was when He Chen hunted a wild boar and the village shared the meat. Since then, she’s only occasionally picked some pork fat into her vegetables.

He Chen and Ye Manman didn’t speak; both were frowning internally, thinking about who this woman was, where she came from, and what she might have found out, while only Yang Donglian remained excited.

"However, although I brought this pig out, we wouldn’t have caught it without you guys. Why don’t we just cook and eat it together? No need to share with the village folks."

The more she spoke, the more feasible it seemed, which fit perfectly with her earlier plan.

After all, she was the one who brought this pig out, and He Chen caught it, so wouldn’t it be quite reasonable for her to go to their house for a few meals?

"And taking it back means sharing with the other few Knowledge Youths anyways. It’d be better if the three of us split it; it’s almost New Year after all. You should take this little pig home and consider it a gesture of friendship."

"I hope you don’t mind me being a friend who comes to scrounge a meal."

Knowledge Youth?

He Chen and Ye Manman exchanged glances, seeing wariness and suspicion in each other’s eyes.

They didn’t know Yang Donglian, nor did they have any impression of Gao Huifang before, but these two women kept drawing closer.

Ye Manman really wanted to know what these two female Knowledge Youths were up to, specifically targeting their family.

She hadn’t expected that after generously offering them the whole pig, He Chen would still refuse not only her offer but also her friendship.

Does he really have to guard against her so tightly?

She picked up the little wild boar, and after taking a couple of steps, still a bit unwilling, arranged her expression and turned around again cheerfully to say to them.

"Or maybe I’ll carve out some meat and send it to your house later. I won’t scrounge for a meal then, haha, see you later!"

She purposefully acted properly, making everything look good, and thus secured another legitimate opportunity to visit the He Family. Having said that, she then slipped away, fearing hearing He Chen’s rejection.
