Chapter 1449: Chapter 1372: Utilizing Value

This time, she went straight back home, wrapped herself in a blanket, and closed her eyes.

Before long, she fell asleep.

Indeed, when exhausted to the extreme, the quality of sleep improves considerably.

After waking up, Ye Ranran received an invitation to attend a banquet—just a bunch of people getting together for fun.

In high society, there’s never a shortage of parties; one host after another, nominally to build relationships, but really just to eat, drink, and be merry.

Ye Ranran had previously devoted her entire heart to Fu Rong, and since he disliked such gatherings, she naturally avoided them as well, leading to her eventually receiving no invitations.

However, since she brought it up last time, the hosts included her this time.

Having slept for an entire afternoon, Ye Ranran felt quite refreshed, so she accepted the invitation.

Somebody had reserved a nightclub intending to sing and dance, and Ye Ranran applied a smokey makeup look, donned a cocktail dress, and set out.

Jun Mochan had already received the news and found a way to blag his way in.

Frankly, while waiting for the identification report, nothing made him happier than knowing Ye Ranran and Fu Rong were at odds.

It’s just that he hadn’t expected someone to be even happier than him.

As soon as he saw Ye Ranran, Fu Er approached with a glass of wine: “Secretary Wen has finally seen the light? Not always hanging around my younger brother anymore?”

Ye Ranran hadn’t expected him to be there, and a flash of distaste crossed her eyes, but she took the wine from his hand and deftly set it aside while talking: “Just out to relax occasionally, isn’t Fu Er busy as well, seeking fun?”

“Secretary Wen doesn’t drink? Or do you prefer soft drinks?” Fu Er didn’t pursue the previous topic further.

An impatient look appeared on Ye Ranran’s face, yet she masked it well: “Excuse me, I need to use the restroom.”

She didn’t work under him and naturally didn’t need to bother with him.

Avoid him if possible.

Fu Er was about to follow when a waiter bumped into him, splashing various colored drinks all over Fu Er.

“What are you doing?” Fu Er exclaimed as he jumped up.

The waiter hurriedly set down his tray and tried to wipe off the drink stains: “I’m so sorry, sir, it was an accident. I truly apologize.”

“What’s the use of an apology? Do you know how expensive this outfit is? You couldn’t afford it in your lifetime.” Fu Er pushed him away.

“I’m truly sorry,” the waiter continued to apologize.

Fu Er didn’t know what else to say and left indignantly.

Ye Ranran had been paying attention to his movements and breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing him leave.

She hadn’t expected Fu Er would actually be so concerned about her now.

“If you married him, it would infuriate Fu Rong,” Jun Mochan spoke from behind her.

Ye Ranran patted her chest: “Why are you sneaking around like a ghost?”

She was nearly scared to death.

“Sorry, I didn’t realize you were so timid,” Jun Mochan said with a hint of apology in his eyes.

His sincerity made it difficult for her to remain angry: “Forget it. Anyway, what are you doing here?”

“If you can be here, why can’t I?” Jun Mochan coolly retorted.

Ye Ranran glared at him: “How is it the same for you and me?”

“You haven’t answered my question. Answer me, and I’ll answer you, how about it?” Jun Mochan suddenly leaned closer to her.

His breath fanned her face, causing her to blush. She steadied her nerves and took two steps back: “I don’t like him, and he doesn’t like me. Marrying him, in the end, would only result in a resentful couple. Moreover, his main intention is to use me. The day I lose my value, my fate will surely be miserable. Besides, I have no reason to waste my life on someone who doesn’t like me.”
