The Ugly Duckling Of The Tiger Tribe
Chapter 53: We should all hunt together
CHAPTER 53: WE SHOULD ALL HUNT TOGETHER
As we made our way out of my cave, all eyes fell on us. I don’t know if it was Fenric who was boldly walking beside me or me who had so many love bites radiating under the sun.
However, one thing is certain: jealousy was present.
I couldn’t hear the gritting of those females who had despised me with everything they had. But while they had such reactions, the males were... Blushing.
I don’t think many things changed about me, but the fact that they couldn’t take their eyes off me was so clear that even if I wanted to ignore it, I couldn’t.
And then there was Fenric who had begun to bare his fangs at those males who stared for too long.
When I was single, they couldn’t even dare to spare me a glance, but now that I’m taken and have all these sex marks all over my body, they just can’t help but have eyes on me.
Disgusting, honestly.
Anyways, I noticed something.
Before I was marked, I didn’t notice the marks on others, but now I see all the females that are of age have beastmen heads marked in different parts of their bodies
Like the arm, the shoulder, leg... Why the leg?
They all have their preferences, I assume.
We walked out through the fortress, with the guards greeting us, their eyes on me with a blush on their cheeks.
I clicked my tongue irritably. These were the same guards who used to sneer at me whenever I walked out through these ’gates’.
What is up with everyone?
Even Fenric, who had been here for only a day and had seen all their attitudes towards me, found this treatment odd. And annoying.
"Your tribesmen are weird."
That was the first thing he said as we walked out and I turned to him, my eyes glinting over the fact that he gets it.
"How can they be so...?" The words to match it didn’t even cross his mind and so I finished it.
"Disgusting? Irritating? Foolish? Idiots? I have a long list of what to call them but I’m sure that doesn’t even do them justice." I said, folding my arms. "How can they act that way today and then another way tomorrow? They’re just so moronic. Can’t they just make up their mind?"
Fenric looked at me, surprised, but then burst out laughing.
"Arinya has a way with words as well." He said, and then glued his body to mine. "I didn’t want to speak out too loud since they are still your tribes men but if you say it like that, I don’t think I have to hold back."
"Please, don’t hold back. They deserve every single insult you throw at them."
Fenric laughed again.
The thought made my insides swell with discomfort, but seeing him laugh, I sighed, letting it all out, and smiled at him.
"Let’s forget about that," I said, my eyes peering towards our path. It was the path towards the lake, even if the lake wasn’t close by. "Hm, do you think we should find Damar first?" I asked and Fenric’s face dropped.
He did not give a vivid frown but the slight change in his expression was loud enough for me to know... He didn’t like the idea.
"What’s wrong?" I asked but he shook his head. "Come on, I can tell something is wrong. Are you like this cause you’re jealous?"
But he threw his face away, not wanting to answer me.
He was like a sulking cat.
"Are you like this because I mentioned going to find Damar?"
"It’s obvious," he mumbled and I blinked.
Well, I do know that they don’t have the best relationship but I don’t really want to entertain the thought of treating one way better than the other.
It’ll be my first time hunting with a male, so I thought instead of hunting with just Fenric, which will make Damar uncomfortable later, I should just hunt with both my husbands.
But both can’t just get over their jealousy, it seems.
"Don’t be like that," I placed my hand on his arm, rubbing softly. "We should all hunt together. Think of it as a fun bonding experience."
Still, he wouldn’t look at me. I thought for a few seconds and then came up with an idea. A little friendly competition wouldn’t hurt.
"Then how about this?" I asked. "Why don’t you use this chance to show me how capable you are?"
His ears perked to my notice. He bought it.
"I’m sure you’re dying to show me how impressive you are. So, you and Damar can have a little friendly competition. The one who catches the most squirrels wins." I clasped my hands together, genuinely thinking this was a good idea. "How’s that?"
But little did I know at that time that this little ’friendly competition’ would put the squirrels in this forest near extinction.
"That’s a good idea." He said, finally turning to look at me, looking genuinely gullible. "I’ll use this opportunity to show you what I’m capable of."
"That’s good. We’ll let Damar know so he can prepare as well."
"I like it."
I could tell how much he liked it, given how his tail kept swinging behind him in excitement.
He genuinely thought he was going to win.
Well, he is strong.
But when I think of how nimble Damar is, I don’t feel very confident in crowning Fenric the winner before it starts.
’Ah, let’s not forget to drop by the big bear’s place and Taruna’s place after I leave here.’ I said and wondered if I should’ve gone there first before even going on this squirrel hunt.
But then my stomach rumbled and my face melted.
Nah. Food first.
Soon after, we arrived at the open space where I hoped to find Damar, and just as we stepped out, he emerged from the water.
Droplets spilled towards my side and I envied that refreshing sight. I would’ve loved to have a morning bath but something tells me that having a bath with those two around will keep me in the water till noon.
"Damar," I called and he quickly swam out, as if he had been expecting me.
He threw his body into me, but not completely, if not I’d have crumbled under his weight.
"I knew it was you." He mumbled into my ear. "I could smell you from afar."
