The Unstoppable Comeback Of the Unrivaled Ex-Wife
Chapter 652
CHAPTER 652: CHAPTER 652
Adam looked stunned, and immediately tried to persuade Clara, "Oh no, please don’t. We’ll stop pairing you guys up. After all, Santi doesn’t like it either. We’re just joking. Don’t leave."
He was trying to imply that the others were responsible for trying to put Santiago and Clara together, hoping that Ethan would stop glaring at him.
"It’s not because of that..." Clara looked at Adam apologetically. "It’s my personal reason that I must return to the City. I’m still very interested in this show, and I’ll be honored if people see me and Santiago as a couple. It’s more than I can wish for. Of course, I’m not scared."
"Hmph, how superficial!" Ethan said suddenly, gulping down his wine.
Adam averted his gaze when he saw that Clara had made up her mind. He added, "How about this? If you’re busy, you may leave. But I happen to have a dating variety show coming up soon. Can I invite you and Santiago to be on it as guests?"
"Sure!" Clara agreed to it immediately for the sake of shooting a show with Santiago. She liked him very much. If not that she had to go back to be with Joanna, she would not leave.
"I’m fine with it too." Santiago sounded gentle and straightforward. He had come to this show because of Clara, so he was fine with any other show as long as Clara was a part of it too.
"It’s settled then. You guys signed a contract, so I’ll draft up a transfer contract and move you guys to that dating show. You won’t breach the contract or have to pay compensation, so it’s killing two birds with a stone." Since things had gone smoothly, Adam grinned happily and drank more.
"I disagree," Ethan said icily, "She’s pretty busy, so she doesn’t have time to shoot a dating variety show."
Clara frowned and glared at Ethan angrily. "How would you know if I have the time or not? You have no right to make the decision for me."
Ethan ignored Clara and said to Adam coldly, "Correct me if I’m wrong, but the premise for a dating variety show is that the guests have to be single. They don’t seem to fulfill this condition."
Adam became a little awkward, and immediately said, "Mr. Stuart, you’re worrying too much. Although Santi is loved by a lot of fans, he’s still single. There’s not been a scandal about him for years, so you don’t have to worry about it."
"I know that he’s single. If not, he wouldn’t be so insensible and covet another man’s woman," Ethan said roughly. The atmosphere became awkward. Everyone kept their heads low and did not dare to say anything.
"If that’s the case, then the guests are qualified. Mr. Stuart, is there something else troubling you?" Adam asked carefully.
"Yes, he’s qualified. But it doesn’t mean that she’s qualified. She’s not single..." Ethan said slowly.
"Miss Blackwell isn’t single?" Adam was surprised. From what she told him, Clara should be single.
"Yes."
Ethan lifted his chin and said arrogantly, "I’m her boyfriend."
When he made that statement, everyone was in an uproar. It was shocking to see a big shot of the entertainment circle admit to a relationship so openly.
Clara was confused. She didn’t expect that he would reveal this, and snarled at him angrily, "Ethan, are you out of your mind?"
Why did he announce their relationship to others at that moment? He even did it before her idol. He merely wanted to stop her from dating her idol. Damn it, how could he do such a cruel thing? She could not accept it at all!
"Did I say something wrong? We’re indeed a couple. If not, why would we sleep in the same bed in the same room the first day we got here? I think anyone with a brain would get the idea." Ethan smirked, happy that Clara was so affected by him. At least she wasn’t fawning over Santiago, and was focusing on him.
"I..." Naturally, Clara was at a loss for words. She knew that people would scold her regardless of what she said.
Santiago quietly sipped his wine and raised his brows. "If being in the same room with another person means that you’re dating them, then wouldn’t you be dating Miss White, Mr. Stuart? See, I can’t tell whether your girlfriend is Miss White or Miss Blackwell based on that condition. Or... are both of them your girlfriends? Are you having two lovers at the same time?"
Clara immediately figured out how to attack Ethan. "Yes, I did stay in the same room with you but there was only one room available at that time. We were left with no options because we didn’t want to sleep
in the cowshed, but we didn’t do anything. You and Miss White stayed with each other for so many days, and you took such great care of her. You guys look more like a couple. Don’t pull me into this mess, I’m single and happy!"
When Ethan saw Clara work with Santiago to cut off her relationship with him, his pride crumbled. He stood up coldly. "Don’t forget what happened tonight. This is your choice."
After that, he turned and left.
That day, Clara and Ethan both returned to the City, but they went back separately. Clara called a cab. Ethan drove and took Shirley home.
It was a bumpy ride just like their relationship, and they had their ups and downs. At last, they were separated. It was afternoon the next day when they arrived at the City. Clara rushed to the hospital where Quinton was without any delay.
Joanna was still waiting outside the surgical room, looking exhausted.
"Joan, how’s everything?" When Clara walked out of the elevator, she saw Joanna leaning against the wall. Clara felt sorry for her friend.
Joanna was overjoyed when she saw Clara, and ran to her and hugged her as if she was her sister. "This is the last surgery. If it’s successful, Quinton will be out of danger and he’ll wake up."
During this period, Quinton had undergone three surgeries by Owen, and all of them had gone smoothly. It all came down to the fourth surgery and its result.
"How high is the success rate?" Clara asked nervously.
"I think it should be fine. Doctor Wagner has exceptional medical skills, and I trust him." While talking, Joanna glanced at the surgical room and took a deep breath. "Not just anyone can hire him. If this surgery is successful, I have to thank that person properly."
