The Unstoppable Comeback Of the Unrivaled Ex-Wife
Chapter 664
CHAPTER 664: CHAPTER 664
Quinton had prohibited Taylor from leaving the courtyard, and her initial obedience faded after her boredom caught up to her. She had begged him to take her out but he always turned her down. At last, she managed to sneak out alone, and her entire world crumbled when she witnessed
Quinton’s cruelty and horrible deeds. It worsened her conflict with Quinton, and she no longer wanted to stay in Water Dock. Quinton then proceeded to lock her up, and then... that tragedy ended everything.
"I locked her up in the courtyard because I was afraid that she might get hurt. The world out there was too cruel and dangerous, and I didn’t want to risk her safety. I didn’t expect that what I feared most would happen nonetheless."
Quinton sighed remorsefully. Finally, he looked at Joanna in disappointment and asked, "So you knew that she’s alive. Why did you keep it from me?"
"I..." Joanna looked down guiltily.
"I was unsure what Taylor would face if I told you." "And are you sure now?" Quinton asked her quietly.
Joanna pursed her lips and answered, "At least I know that you won’t hurt her, and that you’ll protect her forever." "Who knows," he replied cryptically, clenching his fists.
Joanna’s eyes widened in surprise.
"What do you mean? You said hating is harder than loving, and that you want to move on.
Why are you saying this now?" "I did want that, but it’s not something I can decide on my own..." Quinton looked into the distance, sounding sorrowful.
" Resentment isn’t easy to resolve; she may not want to fix things even if Ido." "Oh, that’s what you’re worried about." Joanna sighed in relief when she realized that Quinton didn’t hate Taylor.
"Don’t worry, though Taylor may hate you, she still cares about you.
If not, she wouldn’t have whispered your name when she almost died.
I know her too, so I can talk to her and help you both meet." Joanna wanted them to reconcile with each other.
"Thank you. I really do want to fix things between us." Quinton looked at Joanna gratefully.
After a peaceful night, Quinton woke up early the next morning.
He looked just like a fresh graduate in a simple shirt and long, slim -fit pants.
Joanna emerged from her room in her pajamas, yawning and running a hand through her long hair.
When she bumped into Quinton in the corridor, she was rather ashamed to admit that she couldn’t look away.
"Wow, Quinton, you’re so handsome.
If we weren’t siblings, I would have tried to pursue you!" Joanna was obsessed with handsome men.
The reason she was infatuated with Ace in the past was because of how handsome he was.
How nice it was that she could see this handsome brother of hers every day at home now! Joanna rested a hand on his face, and said cheekily, ’’Now I know why Ace hurt your face.He couldn’t be the most handsome man in the City with you around." There was still a faint scar on Quinton’s face that ran from the corner of his left eye to the corner of his lips, but it was a perfect surgery otherwise.
The mark could easily be covered with concealer.
Rubbing the faint scar, she asked, "Does it still hurt?" Quinton covered her hand with his and smiled, shaking his head.
" No, not anymore." Joanna narrowed her eyes and growled, "Ugh, we should’ve never let that petty Ace off the hook!" "My feud with him has long been resolved.
He hurt my face, and I nearly killed him.
What’s more, I wouldn’t have woken up this time if not for him, so don’t hate him because of me," Quinton quickly reassured her, not wanting her to hate Ace even more.
"Ah, there are a lot of things you don’t know," Joanna murmured, and sighed softly.
After washing up, Joanna went downstairs and had breakfast with her family.
"It’s been so long since this manor has been this lively. I’m sure the late Mr. and Mrs.Pierce would be very glad if they could see this," Nancy commented, her eyes teary.
She had woken up early to prepare breakfast for them.
"Well, I’m sure our manor will always be lively like this.
Our family will get stronger, and we’ll stay together forever," Joanna declared happily.
"Yes, we’ll always be together!" Adie and Abby echoed cheerfully.
After breakfast, Nancy drove Adie and Abby to school.
Quinton was lounging in a chair, reading a book.
Joanna watched her brother for a while, then stood up and said quickly, "Quinton, you’ve just recovered.
Stay home and rest; I’ll come home soon." Quinton looked up from his book, and stared at Joanna contemplatively.
"Are you....going to see her?" "Yeah..." Joanna hung her head, but didn’t deny it.
She knew that she couldn’t hide anything from her brother.
"I’m going with you," Quinton said firmly as he put his book down and got to his feet.
"You’re going with me?" Joanna gaped at him, unsure of what to do.
Quinton raised an eyebrow at her.
"Is it inconvenient?" "No, I’m just afraid you can’t take it..." Heaving a sigh, Joanna confessed, "Listen.
Taylor’s not the same as before.
She’s suffered a lot, and she’s a different person now.
Maybe she isn’t the pure young woman you remember, and she may hate you more than you think.
I think it’s a bit dangerous for you both to meet spontaneously like this." She still remembered how Taylor yearned to kill Quinton.
Besides, after all the torture Taylor had been through, it was possible that she blamed Quinton for all her suffering.
"It’s fine, I can accept it. Even if she wants to stab me again, it’s what I deserve," Quinton explained calmly, his hands in his pockets.
Guilt overwhelmed him at the thought of his much- adored woman being tortured by others, and he felt like he was the cause of it. If he couldn’t forgive himself, how could Taylor? "whoever starts the problem should end it.
I know you want to take this slow and plan things out, but I think I’m the only one who can resolve this." Quinton knew that Joanna was only trying to help, but he had to face the issue on his own.
"Fine, we’ll go together then. I won’t stop you." Joanna nodded, reassured by his calmness and rationality.
They then went to Taylor’s hospital by car.
This hospital was a high-end private hospital that only catered to the rich, and ordinary people couldn’t even get close to it.
Ace had pulled strings and placed Taylor there secretly.
Joanna had only visited Taylor once when she was in a coma and the doctors had been trying to save her, and she was curious about Taylor’s current condition.
