I was caught off guard by how suddenly the tears came. Her head was just on my chest while she tried to catch her breath, and all of a sudden a sound like she was choking tore from her throat.

I was on the verge of panicking, thinking something had happened, or I had been too rough. But then I held her face, a question at the tip of my tongue, but when I saw her face, all the words died on my tongue.

She was sobbing, weeping so hard that her entire body shook and the tears were streaming down her face, no, they were pouring out without restraint.

I still held her face, my eyes wide, my heart kicking against my chest. What was I supposed to do in a situation like this? Comfort her? But how? How do youfort humans in a situation like thisb? /b

She rested her head on my shoulder, the sound of her wailing loud and going straight to my head. Her body trembled badly and she wrapped her arms around my neck, wetting my shoulder with her tears.

I finally snapped out of it, blinking furiously as if I wanted to clear my head. fn2992 Find the newest release on find?novel/fn2992

I wrapped my arms tightly around her, burying my face in her hair, and drawing her closer to my chest as if bI /bwanted to push her into my skin.

“Shh,” I cooed softly, stroking her back, hoping she didn’t notice how my hands shook, or how crazed my heartbeat had be. “It’s okay. You’re okay, Be.”

But it was as if I was pouring fuel into the fire because her tears only increased.

Was I doing it right? Should I not hold her too tight? Or maybe she doesn’t want me to hold her? God, what the fuck do I do? I really can’t leave-

“I’m not okay, Kade,” she sobbed, her face still on my shoulder, her words muffled. “I’m not okay. I’m falling apart. All the emotions I’ve buried for years have burst out and it’s tearing me apart. I don’t want to fall apart, Kade. I don’t want this pain. Please take it away. Help me from falling apart.”

My chest tightened to the point of pain and all I could do was hold her tighter, cradling her head gently and kissing her hair. “You won’t fall apart. I’ll stop that from happening. I’ll take away the pain if I can. So don’t fall apart, Be. You’re strong. You’re capable, and you’vee too far. Don’t break now.”

“Did you see the look in his eyes?” she asked in between sobs, grabbing my shirt. Her sobs were reducing but her body still shook. “He looked at me like I was a monster when the real monster was at his feet! He looked like I was a stranger. I’m his daughter, for God’s sake!”

“I think people who are misunderstood are the ones usually called monsters,” I said softly, still stroking her back, my other hand on her head massaging her scalp gently. “My brothers and I have been called monsters plenty of times. Especially my little brother, Axel. He’s been called a monster almost all his life, but if you know Axel, he’s like a snake. People fear him at first nce, but in truth, he’s gentle, quiet, and only strikes when he’s cornered. That is when he’sbeled a monster, when all he wants bis /bto be left alone. So you see, being called a monster in today’s world means you’re misunderstood. While the real monsters are beingbeled as victims.”

She finally calmed down, sniffling, still holding my shirt.

“I’ve never heard you talk that much at once before,” she whispered, her voice hoarse.

I scoffed. “And I can’t remember thest thing I spoke for that long”

She was quiet for a while, her breathing calming down. “Do you think I should give up on my revenge against Medea?”

“No.” I answered without hesitation.

“I don’t even have any grand ns. I just want to make her suffer. I want to take everything from her and send her back to the pit. But I don’t know how to go about it.”

“We’ll think about something.”

“We,” she repeated, rubbing her face on my chest.

“Yeah.”

We fell silent, but then something urred to me. “If you feel like the idea of revenge is too much or bearing down on you, you can quit. Not everybody has the mind to carry out revenge.”

“Well, I do. I’m going to see this through. She can’t just go scot free after everything she’s done to me.”

“Good. Shall we go home now?”

She nodded, pulling away from me. “Sure. Let’s. I’m drained.”

Bedonna fell asleep on the way back. She was still asleep when we reached the house, and even when I carried her out of the car, she didn’t budge. She still remained deeply asleep.

She just rubbed her face on my chest, sighing in her sleep.

I carried her up to her room, cing her gently on the bed, but I didn’t immediately leave. I sat at the edge of the bed, watching her sleep.

She slept peacefully, her lips parted and snoring softly, her expression peaceful. It was almost as if this evening didn’t happen, but her swollen eyes were proof that it did happen.

My hand reached out slowly and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, my knuckles brushing against her cheekbone.

I left the room, taking out my phone and dialing a number.

He picked up on the second ring. “Kade? Isn’t itte over there?”

“Kross, I’m in deep shit.”

I dashed to my room, almost running. I burst into the room, going straight to where I kept my cigarettes. I took them and a lighter, leaving the room and stepping outside.

“What’s wrong?” Kross asked, an edge entering his voice.

I didn’t answer him immediately. I wasn’t sure I could right away. So I lit a cigarette first, inhaling deeply before I blew out the smoke. I finished a cigarette before my hand finally stopped shaking, and my head became ia /ibit clearer.

Kross didn’t press me. He just waited patiently. And when I finally felt like I had my shit together, I answered, “I think I’ve fallen for Bedonna.”
