CHAPTER 42: EYES OFF ME, EYES ON THEM

Leon walked out of the infirmary as the doctor’s words rang in his ears.

’A coma without any cause... what you need more is company and not medicine kid.’

The doctor had shrugged and moved on, he seemed too busy to waste time on Leon.

"Tch. Company my ass." Leon clicked his tongue moving forward.

Not that he cared for any of his family, but still... don’t they at least send a message.

"What type of parents even do that?"

Sure they were busy, but still—

"Haaah... not even Myra came."

Leon sighed, weary.

’I’m wasting my time.’

The look on his eyes changed and a weird feeling crept over him.

Too much had happened in the past few days.

He ticked off the moves in his head, one by one, like chess pieces sliding into place.

First — revealing his Light Affinity to the Twilight Order.

It was a gamble, yes, but one that painted him as a candidate too valuable to ignore for them.

Second — slipping Eula a three-line incantation which hadn’t even been discovered yet.

It was enough to bait her curiosity, enough to keep her wary of him. She couldn’t move against him now, not without second-guessing herself.

And third... the masterpiece.

Letting Ethan claim the glory of slaying a Primordial.

A grin crept over his face, as he walked.

This would make a certain someone a symbol of hope overnight, while Leon vanished from the spotlight. Every gaze was now focused toward Ethan, and also toward Liora Kingdom.

It would craft a perfect diplomatic warfare.

Reaching his dormroom, and leaning back against his couch, his lips curled into a crooked smile.

"A perfect little setup. Eyes off me, eyes on them."

The smirk on his face didn’t last long.

"...But for how long?"

His hands brushed off the strands over his forehead, as he rubbed.

"I have survived due to the Drop of Limitless."

He had nearly killed himself in the process. And as for his new found skill...

∎ Creator – ??-rank

Though the skill was too strong, the consequences of using it again were too great.

Who knows, he might be down for a whole month the next time he activates it.

If it wasn’t for this skill, they would have a slim chance of winning the fight.

Leon’s fist clenched. Even with this boost, he still felt powerless.

"Fuu, haa, fuu, haa."

Taking deep breaths to calm himself, Leon fell into thoughts. After he woke up from the coma, he had been feeling incredibly relaxed.

He would have to check his current stats before he did anything else.

"Status."

As soon as he muttered the words, a small translucent hologram window appeared.

"..."

He glanced at the status screen, noticing the levels of each of his stats, skills, and the mana core. A satisfied look appeared on his face.

Except for his Unique Skills, all the others had made three level jumps.

His Analyze was level F+ before; now it had become D+. His Charm, which had been F, became D, and similarly, his overall Level, which was F before, now became D.

His eyes glimmered at the Mana Core Level, which had evolved from 1-star to 4-star.

One more star, and he’d break into a Bright Red core.

His gaze stopped at the last line.

System Notification — [The level limit has been lifted.]

"...The hell?"

That line had never been there before.

’A system upgrade?’ he thought, glancing back at it again.

The upgrade of the status screen was unheard of.

’The limit on level has been lifted...’ he thought, racing his mind.

"Drop of limitless."

He answered himself. The [Drop of Limitless] had the ability to lift off the level threshold, meaning now he could level up beyond the known level.

’That explains the ?? of my Creator skill.’

It must be higher than S+, that’s why the system was unable to read it.

"Interesting..."

This boost in stats and core would make Leon stronger than 70% of the first years admitted to Eclipse.

But still, it wouldn’t help him win any fight if all he could do was cast spells. Along with magic, weapon arts were also equally important.

And right now, in the first year, only three or four were capable in weapon arts — that included Ethan.

’Ethan... I still need to ask that bastard why he didn’t come to see me.’

Leon glanced at the clock.

3 P.M.

There was still one hour left before all the classes would be over.

He would have to ask Ethan directly, and after that, he would visit Eula.

Just as Leon stood to leave, a knock came from the door.

KNOCK KNOCK

"Young master."

"...!"

Leon flinched and turned at the door.

"Myra?" he muttered.

Maintaining his posture, he called out to her before she knocked again.

"The doors open, come in."

From behind the door, Myra walked in empty-handed. Her eyes were swollen, and dark circles could be seen under her eyes. She was also dressed in a casual outfit.

’No maid uniform?’

Leon tilted his head at her appearance.

A simple top and a skirt, with a black cloak draped over her shoulder.

"What’s the matter?" Leon asked, blinking.

Myra closed the door behind her and walked in front of the couch.

"How do you feel, Master?" she asked gently, her eyes carrying a hint of guilt.

"Oh, what’s this?" Leon smirked. "So you do know about the condition I was in?"

"Yes. And I apologize if my absence caused you any trouble."

She bent her knees, about to lower herself, but Leon raised a hand to stop her.

"There’s no need," he said. For a split second, he caught a faint smile on her face.

"Your absence? I didn’t notice." he added flatly.

That fleeting smile vanished, as if it had never been there.

"I appreciate your kindness, Young Master. But I was strictly told not to visit you during these past days while you were in the infirmary."

Leon raised an eyebrow.

"Hm? What do you mea—"

He paused, recalling something.

’Well, I wasn’t really her master. It was someone else.’

He grinned, before his tone sharpened.

"What does she want now?"

Myra was stunned by his sudden question, but answered quietly.

"Lady Veronica has invited you for a private dinner tonight."
