CHAPTER 408: WAS IT YUKI?

The blizzard grew stronger, and the icy wind made it hard to breathe. Their teeth shattered against each other while Sarah stood ahead with a smug look.

She planned to freeze them to death which could work. Sarah had more experience with magic compared to Abrielle who just recently started using magic.

Abrielle struggled to stand, her legs were shaking and she could not die here. "Stop resisting it is hopeless, dear princess." Sarah chimed. Abrielle could barely see in the blizzard this strong.

She climbed out of the canoe and conjured a fire Phoenix that was circling above her head. Still, the blizzard was strong, and she could barely keep the Phoenix intact. This was an uneven match.

Her hand was in front of her, blocking the wind. Abrielle’s eyes narrowed, then went wide when she saw an ice attack coming; she could barely block it in time. Sarah kept on sending attacks one after the other.

Abrielle tried her best pushing to the end. Evelyn started to assist. She planned a sneak attack on Sarah but Sarah was just too powerful.

Evelyn could barely get close to her. Sarah had a smirk on her face, watching them attack without a break. It looked like she was fighting children without even trying.

"Come on, try harder. I am barely moving a finger." She chimed, it wasn’t a lie..her hand was so free she even yawned.

Abrielle gritted her teeth and started sending more attacks, Evelyn felt helpless and was even surprised Abrielle was still going. The magic in the air got tense, and their battle might attract attention if they didn’t stop it on time.

Sarah sighed, her face getting serious. "I am bored with this." She said then raised her hand up. A thick cloud formed above them, just from how heavy the magic was, Abrielle knew they were going to die if this attack hit them.

"Back away.." she screamed at Evelyn. The maid could not hear her amidst the storm. Thunder started to ring, and Abrielle’s heart was panicking. She recognised this attack, but how was Sarah able to perform this?

She knew she could not fight against this. Neither could she get away from its range on time. Cedric was already risking his life to make it possible for her to escape. She could not die here.

"Mors Gelida," Sarah called out during the attack. Everything went silent like time itself had been frozen. Next, a loud thunder rang with lightning striking down on them. This lighting wasn’t the type that burned, but it froze the target, giving them an instant death.

The mist rose and they could barely see each other. That was when the thunder struck. At the same time, a loud roar rang, so deafening that Abrielle had to block her ears.

It looked like a trance but it wasn’t. Yuki ran out of the canoe and shifted into a large tiger-like animal at the last moment before death came knocking.

The large winged tiger lunged at Abrielle. She was too terrified by what was happening to move. The lighting hit her, she felt the cold but she didn’t die.

Her eyes fluttered open, and then she saw him. A man so gorgeous he could rival Cedric, pale white skin with bluish silver hair. The man held her close and took the attack, diverting it back to Sarah like it was nothing.

Sarah could not see what was happening because of the mist. She only saw a tall figure appear before Abrielle and next her attack came back at her.

At the last moment, she was able to activate a rune and escape before she died under her spell. "Who are you?" Abrielle asked.

"You already know.." he said. Then, a strong wind blew, the ice under her feet cracked, and the mist cleared. "Abrielle!!!" She heard Evelyn scream, running towards her on the cracking ice, but before Evelyn could meet her, she fell.

Abrielle was disoriented by how the gorgeous man disappeared, and cute Yuki was a man. No one saw Yuki except her because of the mist, and by the time it cleared, she had already fallen into the water.

She fell into the ice water with Yuki. The cold enveloped her. The beautiful stranger with ethereal looks, she thought only her husband possessed, swam towards her.

She kept on sinking, unable to swim in the cold water. "Abrielle," he said. How could he breathe underwater? he grabbed her hand and pulled her into his arms. It was dark and dim but she knew what she saw.

As soon as she hugged him, he turned back to her cute Yuki and everything went black.

******

A cough rang, and Abrielle’s eyes fluttered open. She was in a dim room lit by a lantern. She felt dizzy, and her body was lying on a bed.

The sounds of waves echoed, she was in a ship. What had happened? Abrielle managed to sit up; she was still wearing male clothes, but the chest binder was gone.

Her eyes darted around the room spotting Giselle and Jubilee sleeping on a chair. Evelyn was on guard leaning against a wall with her eyes closed. They survived.

A soft meow from her side caught her attention. She glanced at Yuki, who was lying by her side, looking at her curiously. Everything rushed into her head. Her gaze was conflicted

"Yuki," she called out and a voice replied. "You are awake." She heard Evelyn mention, slowly straightening up as she approached the princess. Evelyn sat by the bed and placed her palm on Abrielle.

"No fever. We are lucky." She sighed while Yuki bent his head going back to sleep. Cedric was right, there is something weird about her cute Yuki. Who was that man? Was he really Yuki?

"Evelyn, where are we?" She asked.

"We successfully escaped Vitalis and are on a merchant ship to Vesper. Those were Cedric’s instructions." They were going back to her home.

"What about Cedric?" Abrielle asked. Evelyn shook her head.

"I don’t know but I hope he makes it to Vesper. He is strong and they won’t get him."

Abrielle lay back, she was exhausted mentally and emotionally. Sarah, there was always something wrong with that maid.
