The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband
Chapter 411: Abrielle Nightshade
CHAPTER 411: ABRIELLE NIGHTSHADE
Special Chapter
Abrielle/ Hazel’s POV
My name is Hazel Walters, and I will say a lot has happened in my life when I think back at it everything feels crazy and surreal and at times I feel genuinely dumb
Crazy, right? My life a couple of months ago wasn’t really eventful. I was a student who wrote under the anonymous identity Midnight Queen. The reason I wrote was simply because of one, I was broke and my family was struggling, two, it was a way to bring my imagination to life.
Writing felt like an escape from reality, a way to voice out my introverted voice. I wrote a couple of books which were best sellers during my 3-year career, but one work stood out.
My best work ever, the dragon and priestess. The truth about the dragon and the priestess, no one knows, was that the plot was based on a recurring dream I used to have.
It was a special book to me, not just because it was a bestseller, but because of the characters, especially Lucian, who was based on my real crush, also named Lucian and the girl named Callista. The girl I wished I could be.
Something about popular books is that they will have as many haters as lovers. The readers always saw me as a heartless author because of the character development the female lead went through from an orphaned baby left to die in a forest to an abused child at a monastery. They a slave, and just when things were getting good, she had to survive in a royal family among wolves.
Callista’s life was always on the line with one of her biggest threats, Abrielle Nightshade. Abrielle was an iconic character who was universally hated. I also hated her maybe because she reminded me of myself. Abrielle the character who was written based on me and a dream.
What I never saw coming was getting killed by an anti-fan, then getting reincarnated into my very own book as the character I hated the most. The one meant to die at the hands of the man she loved.
Things twisted and it felt like everything wanted me dead. It was like I was put in Callista’s position in the same plot. Other transmigration characters get a system that supports them, I got one that wanted me dead as much as the plot. How ironic.
I was fighting a losing battle that tested my wits and my intelligence, which I don’t think I have much of. A lot of things were unravelled leaving a lot of questions for which the answers are unknown
This world felt like my book, but something was always off, and now I am certain of one thing: it might be similar to the book, but it isn’t the same.
One thing I never saw coming, or was too stubborn to see, was the same villain, the same husband, that was meant to kill me, falling in love with me.
The carriage rolled slowly along the bumping road. My eyes were stuck on the window staring at the towering buildings that gave Vesper its title of the most enchanting city in Darconia. Vitalis, the capital, was beautiful and breathtaking for a world based on historical settings, but Vesper was different. It was calm and gentle.
Not even the capital was equal to it. Vesper was beautiful because of its rich magic stone mines, which are worth more than gold in this world, and its large ports that connected Darconia to another continent, making it a major trade route. Due to Vesper’s economic power and influence in the temple, even the royal family is wary of them, and they are the only ones who can give me refuge at this time.
Vesper could be accessed by buying land and water, but the water route was safer. I felt something fall on my shoulders, drawing my attention to Jubilee, the little girl I bought out of a slave auction.
She was asleep, tired from our long journey. "Sorry, she must be tired." Giselle cautiously said nervously, I wasn’t upset by Jubilee’s unconscious actions.
"It’s fine, she must be tired from the journey." I shrugged off. We all were. Luckily our cover didn’t get blown during the sailing. I didn’t see Camilla again, although I heard from Evelyn she got off at Moonstone Harbour with her husband. Moonstone was close to her town.
My eyes strayed back, we were now in the forest. I remember the route from memories that seem like mine but weren’t really mine. It was the route to the Nightshade estate.
"Cedric," I muttered. I wondered where he was now.
The carriage came to a halt at the gates. The guards didn’t let us in at first. Evelyn was able to handle the situation and requested a family member to see us.
"Give this to Duchess Rebecca she will understand." She handed over an old pendant I had with me from the first day I came here. It was a birthday present.
The guard seemed sceptical about it. He reluctantly agreed after the approving nod from the other guard.
The carriage was now, and I was the only one let inside for my safety. I was still covered in old dirty clothes that served as a disguise. My head fell against the chair and my eyes closed releasing a tired breath
It was summer, my birthday in this world was close. Over time, I have gotten used to being Abrielle, we were the same people. The air felt fresh and relaxing.
A few minutes later the door was pulled open and a muffled cry rang. My eyes opened, and Rebecca stood at the door. Her eyes were red, tears rolling down her cheeks.
Like a storm, I was pulled in a tight embrace. She trembled, holding me tightly. "I am glad you are safe. I thought I would die from worry." Her voice shook as she spoke.
.
Rebecca didn’t care that I smelled horrible or the fact that the coal and dirt would ruin her expensive clothes. A mother’s love doesn’t care about something as irrelevant as that.
The system and the plot had lost absolute control, although I doubt it truly held any power, if not Alfonso and Cedric wouldn’t have fallen for me. I wondered what the future held. "Welcome back home."She said but was this my true home?
