CHAPTER 496: HE LIED

Raziel went to her; he was worried if she was frightened or if she didn’t recognise her surroundings. Even when his mind was a complete mess, she still lingered in his mind.

He materialised in the dimly lit room and was ambushed immediately. Elysia’s hand wrapped around him. It felt like forever since the last time he was in her arms.

All he wanted to do was pull her into a hug and bury his face in her hair, taking in her soft scent.

The corner of his lips curled up but his eyes were still distant. Her scent was not the same..it smelled like that bastard.

He was no saint. His mind was filled with so many tempting thoughts which indeed made him look like a devil

Her arms were wrapped around his shoulders, she just wanted to feel the warmth she secretly craved. The feeling which was always missing.

Raziel didn’t hug her. Elysia sensed this was off and stepped down. "Raziel," she called, her head slowly glancing at him. She was nervous about his rage.

She had been married to him long enough to know he was the last person whose rage should be unleashed.

He almost destroyed Elaris because of his rage in the past. Her eyes met his gaze and her heart skipped a beat.

His eyes were cold, no emotion. Not even anger. Elysia tried to reach out for his hand. She could sense his hesitation but he still let her hold him. That’s when he asked the question.

"How could you forget my name?" He asked.

Her chest felt tight. Even if she might have forgotten everything she should have remembered his name at least. They have been together for centuries and she forgot him

Did he mean so little to her? To the one, he was ready to burn it all. He actually burned it all and was punished, bound to the punishment, keeping him here. The king of Netheralis, the word king, was a joke to him.

Tears welled up in her eyes. She was completely helpless. "I am sorry, I didn’t mean to." Her voice broke.

"You didn’t mean to. " He paused, then stepped back, trying to yank his hand from her hold. She only held on tight.

"Raziel, please." What could she do? She never planned on forgetting him. She always knew something was missing, but no matter how she tried, she couldn’t remember.

She eventually had to accept the false reality before her. "4 years Elysia. 4 years of torture for me. I was losing my mind while you were cosying up in another man’s arms."

She wanted to argue but he was not wrong either. She betrayed their love even if she didn’t want to. Her free hand touched her stomach; it wasn’t big, but still had a pouch, evidence left by her pregnancy.

"Elysia I searched for you. Even your sons said I had lost my mind and should just come to terms with the fact their mother was dead..." His voice shook.

The guilt came clawing up her throat. She was sorry. It was not her fault, she wanted to say, but it won’t change the fact that she married another man and desecrated their bond.

"Raziel.." She called again but didn’t even know what to say.

"The only hope I had was the bond I still felt. I went to the human realm time after time to find you."

Silence. No one spoke again. Elysia could not bear to look at him. He was mad, frustrated and also happy at the same time. He was glad she was back but his heart still ached..

Raziel remembered the baby. He wanted to kill that baby more than even Kaiden wanted to, but once he remembered it was her baby, he just couldn’t. He could not afford to hurt something tied to her.

A soft sob broke and her shoulders started to tremble. His chest felt tight, he didn’t want her to cry. He wanted to hug, to comfort her, but if he did that, she would not understand how much he was breaking.

"I am sorry... Raziel I was confused and lost. You have no idea how I felt like I was leaving another person’s life." She whimpered, then slowly raised her head..

She remembered Kaiden’s and Eleanor’s wedding. She always felt like the other woman. A part of her always knew the truth.

"I used to look at his face then see you. I didn’t understand why or know why. It might not be enough of an excuse, but these years have been hell."

Her voice was sincere; he knew she was not lying. Her cry grew louder, and her knees crumbled.

Elysia was on the floor, the guilt and fear were eating her whole. She could not afford to lose him.

Raziel’s jaw clenched, and her tears haunted him. He didn’t want to cave in, yet he found himself kneeling on the floor and holding her close. She cried until her eyes were dry, and her face was buried in his tear-stained shirt.

"Please don’t hate me," she mumbled, clutching onto his shirt. Raziel placed his chin on her hair. His mismatched eyes were filled with emotions even he didn’t understand.

"I am angry but more mad at myself than you. I was so useless. I could not find you until you called." He admitted, her tears died down a bit.

"Even if you stab right in my heart, it won’t be enough to make me hate you. Yes, I am hurt, but it will eventually heal.".

She knew he was telling the truth. She stabbed him in the heart, but in the end, he still married her. It felt like all she ever did was hurt him. "I love you, Raziel. My dumb mistake caused this, only if I hadn’t been ambushed that day."

"I know you love me, and we will live through this, but I can’t lie. I do want to kill the bastard who touched you." Her breath hitched. Raziel laughed, giving her chills.

"He already has a soft spot in your heart," Raziel said. She wanted to look away, knowing it would only hurt him.

"He didn’t know I was married. I was the one who betrayed our Bond and not him. If anyone should suffer it should be me." She said barely a whisper. Scared of how he would take it. He didn’t lash out, she sensed his muscles tensed and was certain he didn’t like the fact she was defending Kaiden.

"You speak as if I can ever hurt you." He said.

He could never hurt her directly but could hurt Kaiden and the baby. Her expression changed, brows pulling together, with a subtle pain in her heart.

Raziel understood her expression. "The baby didn’t make it, and even if he did, I would have killed him," Raziel said. Elysia froze and she wanted to shove him off.

"You killed him." She accused him. Raziel didn’t accept or deny it.

"I would never let you have another man-child, but the poison got to him first." Her breath hitched once she was hit by the news. Elysia wanted to cry, but she didn’t.

How could she cry over a child she conceived with another man? This was her punishment.

Raziel was torn apart seeing her like this.

It was better they way, he thought. Even if he accepted the baby he knew his sons would never accept their mother’s betrayal.

"I guess I am a horrible mother and wife."

*******

"I thought you were dead, it turns out Raziel lied," Elysia muttered. Cedric took a moment to process everything.

"So Kaiden is truly my father." Cedric chuckled. His laugh was dark and cold.

Elysia had heard about everything Cedric went through and found it hard that Kaiden stood by and watched. "It feels like the Kaiden we both know is different ". She admitted
