CHAPTER 497: HIS SAVIOUR

In the dimly lit room, candles flickered with a soft breeze wafting through the curtains.

There was silence between the mother and son duo. Cedric found the story absurd, Kaiden loved his mother. When he remembered the Kaiden he knew it was hard to believe.

That day, Eleanor had slashed his face because of Astrid’s obsession, and Kaiden had walked by. He didn’t even glance at him once.

If he had heard, maybe just maybe, he wasn’t a Von Drakkar. It would explain why he was treated with indifference during his childhood.

He always sought his father’s approval, which never came. The more he excelled, the more distant Kaiden grew until he stopped caring altogether.

"Raziel is a noble man," Cedric commented startling Elysia.

Elysia’s face squeezed trying to understand him. She expected Cedric to be mad at Raziel, but he seemed rather calm, taking in everything.

"I..." Her lips parted, and the words were sucked back in. Cedric held her hand and smiled at her. It was soft.

"I am tired, I would like to have a moment alone." He requested. Elysia nodded then stood up.

"Try to get some rest then." Her heels clicked against the marble floor, the door opened, and then she left.

Cedric sighed then fell against the bed.

That was his story, the one no one told him about. It justified Eleanor’s hatred for him but Kaiden had no excuse. He could never imagine himself treating his child the way Kaiden did, even if it was a child who caused Abrielle her life.

"Raziel," he whispered. The man with the mismatched eyes. Raziel was a saint in his books. If he were the one in the king of Netheralis’ shoes, he would not have lied to Elysia about killing the baby.

He would have killed the baby. That makes Raziel a saint, he can’t even imagine Abrielle being in such a situation.

Then it hits him, what if by the time he meets Abrielle again, she had already moved on?

A laugh rang in the dark, fate was fooling with him. He was the one who told her to move on and yet he could not imagine her with someone else.

Elysia stood by the door listening. There wasn’t any outburst, just an eerie laugh. Her hand clutched her dress. He sounded broken and she caused this.

"Don’t touch me. " She shunned. Raziel sighed then stepped back. He had been waiting outside the room for her. Meeting Cedric after all these years, he didn’t feel any remorse for what he did.

He had secretly hoped he had died, but then again, Raziel is the reason Cedric was still alive.

"At least he is handling it well." The king of Netheralis replied. Elysia’s head snapped at him, a fierce glare in those dark eyes which burned him.

"If you didn’t lie he would not have gone through it." Her voice cracked.

She turned sharply and started working in the opposite direction. Raziel followed behind her, his footsteps were like a shadow.

"I should hate you for your selfishness but I am also selfish here. He is the seed of my betrayal, a child I should never love, yet I am just a mother." She added.

"He will understand with time. The best you can do is support him." Raziel stopped a step away from her.

"Do you think he would ever forgive me?" She asked her husband. Her fingers dug into the linen of her skirt.

"That I am not certain of." He was being sincere.

. There was no certainty that Netheralis would have been safer for Cedric.

Their kind valued strength, they wouldn’t have accepted his human side, but then the human could not accept Cedric’s other side either.

He was someone who didn’t fit in on any side.

Elysia’s eyes drifted outside, staring at the sky, dark with no stars or moon, just darkness. "I also need some time alone," Elysia said then disappeared

He knew she was going to shed tears. Elysia always secretly cried for the baby she never knew. When he told her about Cedric’s death she cried for months but always hid the tears behind a smile before him.

But he knew.

A presence appeared beside, "follow her," Raziel instructed Javiel. After that incident, Elysia was almost killed; he never took the chances again.

Javiel nodded, about to teleport, "What are we going to do about him?" Javiel asked.

"He is your brother as your mother said." Javiel’s jaw clenched.

"He isn’t my brother, just a human." Javiel spat before disappearing into the night.

Raziel stood alone, his eyes drifting back to Cedric’s doors.

His mind drifted to that night 10 years ago. The night Cedric almost died. He should have let the boy die then and ended his suffering.

Maybe he had a soft spot for the boy who bore a striking resemblance to Elysia. Over the years he had secretly been watching Cedric closer than the boy imagined.

That night, when Cedric was close to death during his first war, Eleanor attempted to get rid of him. Raziel did something he didn’t know he was capable of doing. He listened to Cedric’s desperate pleas for survival.

He unsealed his other side, the darkness he inherited from his mother. The same darkness which consumed Cedric over the years was because he lacked guidance.

No one knew what he did, not even Elysia. Raziel wondered if he saved Cedric’s life out of compassion or because he was scared of Elysia’s rage when she found Cedric’s soul among the dead. The same baby, he said, was dead.

The air was hot burning as she exhaled

Abrielle huffed desperately for air, her forehead covered with beads of sweat. She could not move a muscle but the bastard would give her the chance to catch her breath.

The sword coated in heated flames came attacking. Abrielle could not avoid it in time. Luckily, Aurelius stopped in time, but the backlash from the whip pushed her flying straight into the wall.

Her entire body was smashed. She fell on her feet unable to even lift her head. Still, she was struggling to stand.

"That’s enough Abrielle." Aurelius sighed, then sheathed his sword. His eyes were on Abrielle, who was still struggling to stand. Aurelius then glanced at a physician to help her up.

"You are still going soft on me." Abrielle hissed after she struggled to stand on her own. Aurelius’ eyes glinted with amusement at her determination.

"At your current level, if I fight you with my full strength, you would not survive a minute. This is already too much for you to handle."

Abrielle hissed then sat back on the ground. The physician then approached to heal her wounds using spells. "At this rate, I would never be strong enough." She muttered in defeat

How long would it take her to be as strong as Aurelius? She was still a talentless villainess.

Soft footsteps drew closer, then Aurelius squatted before her. "It takes time to grow, pushing yourself to the edge will only break you, and it won’t make him come back anytime sooner."

Abrielle’s jaw clenched hearing Aurelius. She stood up and then stormed away from the training ground.
