CHAPTER 506: HIS OTHER SIDE PART 2

Blood spewed out of his mouth rolling down his jaw. The younger Cedric’s claw dug into Cedric’s heart, squeezing it in his palms.

His dark eyes met Cedric’s gold eyes. A bitter smile on his face, seeing the only thing he took from the father who never accepted him, and maybe the obsession.

His brows furrowed, Cedric didn’t pull away, he just stared back with a smile which puzzled him. Cedric could have evaded the attack but he didn’t.

"Why?" He asked.

"Don’t you desperately want to live? If I kill you here. I will take over and be the man you hated." He blurted. Cedric smiled.

"Maybe that’s for the best. We know even if we fight you will be the winner. A human can’t beat a demon." Cedric replied. His demonic half gritted his teeth and crushed Cedric’s heart in his palm.

Blood trickled out of his nose and mouth, but he didn’t scream, nor did his smile fall.

His voice got darker, rage filled his eyes. He slowly morphed from the body of a 13-year-old to an adult still covered in wounds. Dark marks spiralled all over his body like an ancient text. His fangs elongated.

Before Cedric was a mirror of himself without any filters. "Why are you giving up now? Are you that pathetic?" He roared, his voice deeper than usual laced with so much pain, it hurt more than his heart being crushed.

He always blamed others for hurting him, but the truth was that he hurt himself more than anything. All the blood he spilt in an attempt to hide the rage always sat on his shoulders.

It wasn’t that he hated it. No, it was quite the opposite. He loved it but refused to accept the fact that he was truly the monster they all called him.

Cedric coughed out blood. His teeth gritted." If giving you complete control means protecting her, then it’s fine." Cedric answered, remembering Sebastian’s words when he told Abrielle she was destined to die at his hand.

The other Cedric frowned. Why was he acting selfless? Cedric wasn’t selfless, and he knew this more than anything because they were the same person; even now, he was acting on his selfishness to kill a part of himself.

"Stop acting righteous. It doesn’t suit you." He spat at Cedric who still smiled.

"But it is the truth. I am weak without you and I can’t even protect her. It is different with you after all I am the weak link and you love her more enough to kill yourself without blinking an eye." Cedric admitted to justifying his other side action.

The dark side might be the more ruthless side but his more humane side was a freaking psycho.

His dark eyes went wide, stunned at the look on those gold eyes, ready to accept death. "Don’t you want to see her again?" He asked.

"If you get to see her it doesn’t make a difference. I don’t have any room for weakness." He effortlessly admitted.

The other side pulled out his claws, and he sat back on the sand. His body quickly changed into that of a teenager. He scouted away from the stranger. Cedric was a complete psychopath.

Cedric fell face-first on the ground. He might die here but there was one truth. "If I die she might never accept the darkness." He said knowing he was the bridge between the darkness and Abrielle.

His eyes closed, he failed once again but it was his cross to carry.

Outside of his mind, in Netheralis. Thamiel panicked. His face turned ghostly pale.

He backed away from Cedric, whose eyes were closed, still seated on the floor. His marks spread, covering his entire body, with Cedric’s presence getting 10 times stronger than it was.

Black flames erupted around him. Thamiel stood at a safe distance dumbfounded. How was it possible that he had this much power in him? His fist balled and he immediately tried to reach out for help

"He failed," Thamiel related, hoping for their mother to show up. This was beyond even him. The air shifted and Raziel appeared. His mismatched eyes immediately assessed the situation.

The king of hell was calm on the outside, but even he was stunned at this. "Leave the room and make sure to keep your mother out." He instructed.

Thamiel immediately left through the door, and it was left to Raziel and the stepson he had to save once again. His eyes were still on Cedric who was completely engulfed in his own flames.

A weak cough rang. "Take it easy." Abrielle’s comforting voice said from beside her father. A few days had passed after Seraphina’s death.

Silvanius’s health had deteriorated after that. The royal physicians checked and there wasn’t anything wrong with his body, but his mind was sick.

Silvanius never forgave himself for Bethany’s death. He owed everything to her, but the politics of the palace were too cruel to her.

Although Silvanius was able to secure the position of the crown prince thanks to her, a prophecy wasn’t enough.

Bethany’s family started to lose influence in the court and their position was threatened. It happened so suddenly that no one expected it, with the other prince gaining influence. Then Seraphina’s family influence skyrocketed.

After Seraphina’s death, the truth came out. Seraphina’s family was behind it. Her family gained more influence and wealth after she made a deal with the ladies of the moon. Her manipulation of the court led to her getting what she wanted in the end.

Silvanius wondered. If he knew the throne would come at the cost of Bethany’s life, would he have stepped down? It was a question which plagued his mind but it is all in the past now.

Silvanius glanced at Abrielle, and his hand was still holding hers. "I know I just need a while to process things." He muttered. Abrielle sighed, funny enough she didn’t really blame Silvanius..

His marriage to Bethany was not one of love but convenience. What happened was just unfortunate and now he had to live with the guilt.

Despite his condition, Silvanius still looked young and vigilant as ever, but his eyes were tired.

Aurelius, who had been watching all this while, rolled his eyes. It was weird seeing Silvanius act this way. The strongest mage in Heliosa was far stronger than this.

He scoffed, drawing the attention of the father and daughter. "You have to get out of this room soon. I can’t handle your duties on my own while you relax like the chaos wasn’t caused by your wife ." He sneered at his father.

Abrielle frowned but didn’t comment. The father and son always had a complex relationship. Silvanius sighed then shook his head dismissively before he spoke.

"Maybe it is time Heliosa got a new emperor. You are already qualified enough for the throne." He said Aurelius and Abrielle were stunned.

Silvanius then glanced at an old portrait of Bethany and him on the wall. One he kept secretly. "I think it is time I finally retire."
