The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband
Chapter 527: A second chance
CHAPTER 527: A SECOND CHANCE
Rebecca still called her Elle. Abrielle had the memories of the original owner. At times it felt like they were her own memories. She could feel the emotions Abrielle felt.
She even questions her reality because of how real it felt.
This felt like a farewell letter—a final apology from Rebecca.
Abrielle’s hands trembled as she lowered the letter, her eyes blurring with tears she had not even noticed falling. The words seemed to echo inside her chest, each sentence tearing at the walls she had built around her heart.
She pressed the letter to her chest as though holding it close would somehow bring Rebecca back to her, the Rebecca who had raised her, who had once smiled at her with warmth that felt more real than any bloodline could ever define.
Her shoulders shook as silent sobs escaped her. She did not understand why the ache inside her was so sharp. Was it because the letter read like a farewell, as though Rebecca was closing a door they would never reopen?
Or was it because she truly missed the woman who had been her mother, even if fate had stolen that truth from them?
Or was it Cedric? The emptiness inside her deepened with his absence, and grief tangled so tightly with longing that she could no longer tell where one ended and the other began. Her tears fell harder, her breath uneven, until she buried her face in her palms, whispering to no one.
"I don’t know what hurts more... losing you, or missing him."
The letter lay open on her lap, the ink slightly smudged from her tears. Abrielle curled over it protectively, as though she feared even the words might slip away.
For the first time in a long while, she let herself cry without restraint.
She didn’t even cry the night Cedric left. She held herself to believe he would be back. But it seemed like she was always hopeful.
She felt like everything she had before coming to Heliosa was gone. Cedric was never coming back and Rebecca was never truly going to be her mother again.
It was the sad reality she finally accepted. Abrielle cried so hard. Her sobs filled the room. Her eyes turned dry from tears. She didn’t even know when she drifted off to sleep.
Her eyes fluttered open and she saw herself in a blank white room. A blue screen shone in front of her. It was a system notification
She was baffled to see the system because she thought the system was gone after Cedric broke the plot according to the last notification she saw.
SYSTEM NOTIFICATION
A SECOND CHANCE TO CHANGE THE PLOT
A blue screen popped up. Abrielle stared at the scene bewildered. What did the message mean?
THE HOST HAVE 20 SECONDS TO CHOOSE BEFORE THE SYSTEM CHOOSES FOR YOU.
CONTINUE THE PLOT AS IT IS OR A SECOND CHANCE TO REDO EVERYTHING?
Her heart skipped a beat. She didn’t know what to do. She stared at both options. Loud ticking sounds echo in the room. Either she started the plot again or continued to wait
Cedric might come back if she waited, but what if he doesn’t? Was she ready to risk it if she started all over? Was she ready to go through all that pain?
She just stared, unable to choose, then another message flashed.
IN THE ABSENCE OF HOST DECISION. ONE WOULD BE CHOSEN FOR HER
The scenery changed. The white background changed and a strong force pulled her before she could even react
She found herself in a carriage. Her outfit had changed. Her lips formed a weak smile. Understanding the system choice. It decided to start from this point
The carriage was rolling softly, approaching the cathedral, which was very familiar. Her heart was beating fast, and her fingers dug into her dress. How did she get here? What did a second chance mean?
Abrielle was puzzled. The carriage stopped in front of the cathedral and the door was pulled open for her. She nervously stepped down. Her heart was racing, at the challenge which stood before her
She drew in a deep breath before climbing up the steps covered with white petals. Her white dress swept the floor as she climbed up. She was going to relive this moment
The door was pushed open, and the soft music started to play. Abrielle stepped into it with her bare feet and stepped on the aisle covered in water and petals. Her eyes immediately met his at the end of the aisle. Everything else faded off. Her family and every other guest
She walked down the aisle but this time was different. She was still scared, not because she was getting married to the man destined to kill her, but because of the look he had in his eyes.
Those weren’t the gold eyes she remembered. They weren’t the ones who softened once they saw her. It wasn’t her Cedric standing at the end of the aisle.
A lone tear slipped out of her eyes. Was she ever going to get that Cedric again? Why was she hesitant to choose, and now she was brought back here?
His hand was stretched out for her once she arrived. She took his hand and they approached the altar. Just before reaching the top the doors burst open.
"Please don’t marry him." She heard a familiar voice cry out from the entrance. Her head darted to the door. Rebecca and Pierre stood up, both astonished. Everyone else was stunned. Her face was pale but the one who was surprised the most was Cedric...
He could not believe his eyes and slowly stepped toward the altar. Standing at the door and slowly approaching the altar was Cedric?
How was this possible?
Why were there two Cedrics?
Abrielle’s heart started beating fast, it wasn’t fear that ruled her heart. A smile subconsciously graced her lips and tears started rolling down once their eyes met.
"Cedric," she muttered and he smiled at her. She recognised that smile. Her feet wanted to run to him, but she held herself. ’What was happening?’ she asked herself.
"Who are you? What do you want?" The one beside Abrielle’s side, asked. He reached out for his sword and unsheathed it.
The other Cedric approached, he was calm, but his eyes had a storm in them. "You can’t fight me." He said then stopped halfway on the aisle.
"I mean no harm but I have to stop this marriage. Please don’t marry him, he would only kill you in the end... I will kill you in the end." His voice broke.
