The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband
Chapter 549: Chaos began
CHAPTER 549: CHAOS BEGAN
Elsewhere in the palace, within the walls of the silver crescent palace.
The room was brightly lit, and all the windows were open, exposing the view of the snow-covered palace grounds.
"You look as handsome as ever." Callista chimed. Her hands were adjusting his outfit. Lucian had a soft smile on his face. It was a natural one.
His gaze shifted to the mirror standing ahead of him. He indeed looked like a king on the outside, but inside, he was not sure about that..
He has been having doubts. Words he dared not voice. He was the crown prince, he was a man not allowed to have flaws.
This was how things were meant to be but yet he felt something amidst like he was missing an important clue. ..
"Not as gorgeous as you." He commented. Her cheeks turned red, flabbergasted by his compliment.
"You should start leaving for the mountain. I will be waiting at the cathedral." She took a polite bow. Callista was dressed in a soft blue dress. Her silver hair is delicately styled up. She looked nothing short of an angel.
This was the woman he loved. The one he vowed to make his queen. "I will leave soon. Can I have a moment?" Lucian requested. Callista was surprised by his request. Her lips parted and closed.
"Good luck then. I will head to the temple now." She reluctantly agreed before leaving the room. The door closed at her absence leaving just Lucian.
The prince turned to the mirror, his gaze zeroed in on his reflection. He looked a lot like his father. Kaiden Von Drakkar.
Lucian wondered where Kaiden’s soul was now. A tired sigh slipped out of his lips. His gaze drifted away from the mirror. He should start moving to the mountains for the ancestral test.
Lucian stepped out of the room. The guards bowed in respect for the prince. Lucian nodded in approval and then walked away. Before leaving he wanted to take a short detour.
Lucian ended up finding himself at the stellar palace the queen’s quarters. Today would be the last day Eleanor is resident here before she is moved to another residence since only the reigning queen can reside here.
"Your highness," the guards standing at the queen’s door greeted Lucian. He nodded at them, "I want to have a word with my mother."
They nervously glanced at each other. The guards were aware of Eleanor’s mental state but were in no position to stop the prince from seeing his mother.
The door creaked open and Lucian stepped in. He was welcomed by a soft singing voice.
His footsteps slowed and his eyes fell on her. Eleanor did not notice his presence at first. She was sitting at the edge of her bed staring at the window while holding a glass jar
In the jar was a single primrose which stood frozen in time. That single rose was her most prized possession, and she wasn’t ready to let go of it. The physicians even informed him that she slept with it.
Seeing his mother, he knew, as a formidable queen in this condition, his heart squeezed. She had a smile on her face but was already broken.
"Mot..." He swallowed back, avoiding calling her mother. She didn’t recognise him as Lucian.
"Eleanor," he finally called. Her head darted in his direction immediately. Then a soft smile graced her lips. "Kaiden, you are here " she chimed then rushed off the bed holding the jar
"I have been waiting for you." Eleanor chirped excitedly. Lucian’s heart ached more. She still didn’t recognise him.
He forced a smile then nodded. "I wanted to see you before leaving for the ancestral test. Today is my coronation." He explained. She looked at him, dumbfounded, as if she did not understand a word.
Lucian always imagined that today, Kaiden and Eleanor were meant to be there. His mother was always excited about this dream, but now he could not share the dream with her, despite her still being alive.
Oblivious to Lucian’s turmoil, Eleanor grinned and then presented the jar to him. "Take this. It is our rose."
Lucian’s gaze flickered, and he hesitantly accepted the jar. He didn’t want her to be sad. Ste giggled, "Now you have accepted my flower. Promise to always love me and make me a queen Kaiden. So that we would be happy forever." She grinned like a child.
His throat choked but he still forced himself to speak. "I will always love you." He said, she was his mother after all. He wanted to hug her and tell her everything would be fine. That would startle her.
"And you will always be a queen." Eleanor giggled. She understood those words differently from what he meant.
Eleanor grabbed his hand holding the jar then swore, "I will wait." Like a vow to her love.
Lucian’s lips parted about to reply to her. When the floor shook. Eleanor lost balance knocking the jar from his hand.
It fell on the floor and shattered. Its shards covered the floor. Her eyes went wide, and she screamed, falling to the ground to pick up the glass, forcing it together.
The shards sliced her hands, blood continued to ooze of but she didn’t care.
"No,... no..no..." She went hysterical.
Lucian was baffled, he immediately crouched down to help. "Stop you are hurting yourself." He begged her, his hand reaching for her shoulder.
Once Eleanor felt his hand on her. Her back stiffened then her face turned ugly.
Slap.. her hands ran across his face. "Don’t touch me. Why do you hate me so much?" She barked at him. To her, he deliberately destroyed the jar because he did not love her
Lucian didn’t know how to handle the situation. He did not even have the chance to explain when an explosion erupted..
The ground shook away, and Eleanor fell on the glass, crying. The crown prince gritted his teeth and ignored his mother’s protest. "Let go of me. Give me my rose." She cried, kicking and biting. He still did not stop.
He pulled her away from the shards to the bed. The door burst open with the guards running in. "The palace is under attack." They chorused
Lucian placed Eleanor on the bed then glanced at the guards. "Make sure she doesn’t harm herself." He Instructed.
His jaw clenched, and without a word, he ran out of the room. Lucian’s mind was racing, wondering who could be attacking the palace today.
Was it Alfonso? He wondered because it couldn’t be Cedric.
He eventually made his way to the chaos. His stomach churned once he spotted him. "Cedric." He blurted, staring at Cedric, who had Callista in his grip, and slammed against the wall. She was blacking out already.
