CHAPTER 551: THE DEVIL WITH AN ANGEL FACE

Hearing no reply from the newcomer, the princess grew wary. Her brows furrowed, Abrielle finally caught the reflection of the person at the door. Her body went on high alert and she spun around ready to attack

"How did you get in here?" She cautiously asked.

The person stepped forward, her face blank. "I’m sorry, Abrielle, but I have to pay my mother’s debts." She said, Her hood fell, revealing her ginger hair, which burned like the sun.

Abrielle stepped back being cautious of the person before her. "What debts?" She asked.

Lyra smiled, her eyes were dead. It was like she lost herself after Seraphina’s death. "Mother made a deal to be queen and conceived us. Unless the deal is complete, they will take my brother’s life." She answered.

Slowly approaching Abrielle, she pulled out a dagger from her sleeve. Abrielle wasn’t really scared of Lyra. She could take down the princess as long as her strength was the same as what she knew.

Lyra was a non-combatant mage, while Abrielle had been intensely trained in combat. "You don’t have to do this." She was trying to reason with Lyra while summoning her flames.

Lyra sniffed, the tears in her eyes running down endlessly. She knew this was suicide, but this was how she would meet her end. Her voice choked in her throat.

"You don’t understand. I don’t have a choice here." She cried with a sad smile, then lunged at Abrielle, screaming her lungs out. Abrielle didn’t waver. She was on guard.

Lyra attacked, and Abrielle effortlessly dodged. Seeing Lyra had no room for second thoughts, it was decided. This battle was going to end in one of their deaths, and Abrielle was most certain it wasn’t going to be her.

After evading Lyra, she attacked with a strong flame spell, knocking down the princess effortlessly. Lyra fell on the ground, her garment was partly burnt but she wasn’t going to give up..

With her teeth gritted, she managed to get up, clinging to her dagger like her life depended on it. "Why can’t you just die like your mother?" She cried out, sounding completely pathetic.

Abrielle braced herself, she didn’t let go of her guard. "We both know this fight is pointless." She tried to reason once more, but was cut off by Lyra’s antagonising cry.

"So what?! " She cried, blinded by rage. "If I go to hell. I will make sure to drag you with me." She declared, running blind, to attack Abrielle once more. Her reasoning was gone. It wasn’t just about the deal anymore.

It was something more like an intense grudge. It was personal. Just before they could clash once more, an invisible barrier appeared between them, knocking both of them in the opposite direction.

Abrielle back struck against a wall with Lyra flying to the other end of the room, rolling on the ground.

The pain surged; her entire back ached like her bones were broken. Abrielle gritted her teeth, trying to endure the pain. Her head was muddled, her vision turned blurry, while Lyra was completely knocked out cold on the ground, barely moving a muscle.

The room temperature dropped, and Abrielle’s body shivered, fighting the cold and the pain. Frost started to form on her fingertips. The warning bells went off. Her mind instinctively told her to flee before it was too late.

She struggled to stand up but her entire body was limp. A bright light shone in the middle of the room, and intricate patterns started to form in mid-air.

Abrielle’s eyes squinted, unable to look at the blinding lights. Her vision dazed, it looked like someone stepped out of the blinding lights. And the rune disappeared

Startled, Abrielle’s eyes went wide, surprised to see Callista standing in the middle of the room. Her outfit was completely dishevelled, as if she had just survived a battle of life and death.

Callista’s gaze fell on Abrielle, then flickered away. She turned to the opposite end towards Lyra. The priestess squatted before the unconscious princess.

"Oh dear Lyra, you are just as useless as your mother." She sighed disheartenedly. "I hate to do this, Lyra, but I also have no choice." She continued her one-sided conversation. Callista lifted her hand and a dagger made of ice materialised in her hands

A cold smirk graced her lips. Her hand was swift, and in the blink of an eye, her hand plunged into Lyra’s heart. Ending her life, the princess didn’t even see who ended it

A soft laugh rang, sending chills straight into Abrielle’s spine.

"Get up!!!!" Abrielle’s thoughts screamed but her body refused to listen. In front of her wasn’t the perfect female lead she envisioned. Callista stood up holding her bloodstained ice dagger a perfect smile on her lips which made her look nothing short of an angel

She looked like an angel, moved like one, but behind that perfect smile and beautiful face was a devil in disguise. The goddess of death.

Finally, Abrielle was able to force herself up, desperate to run. Barely taking a few steps away, with just a simple wave of Callista’s hand she was pushed back on the floor. An invisible force was holding her I place

Callista laughed slowly and approached Abrielle in unhurried steps. "Come on, no need to run." She chimed. Abrielle’s whole body was numb.

Why was she this strong? The gap between them was not meant to be this large. Abrielle was completely helpless and could only watch as Callista approached.

She stopped a foot away, then squatted to Abrielle’s eye level. "It’s been a while. You don’t have to be scared. I won’t kill you yet. I have to stop your husband first." She sighed.

"And that makes me feel better?" Abrielle scoffed in a sarcastic tone. She was completely terrified of the devil with an angel face before her. Callista nodded. "At least you get to see your beloved once more before dying. Doesn’t that feel great? " She excitedly said

Abrielle stared wide-eyed at this psycho. She could see it in her eyes. Hatred, one so raw it gave her chills. "You really do hate me." She blurted.

Callista’s smile fell, "he wasn’t meant to love you. Things were meant to be different." She sighed then added.

"I have every reason to hate you, Abrielle, or should I say Hazel Walters." Callista snorted. Abrielle almost lost her ghost as it slowly dawned on her. How was it possible she knew?
