CHAPTER 562: CASSIUS AND MAXIMUS

The longer they fought, the stronger Cedric became. It felt like he was adjusting to Maximus’ strength, but that was not possible.

Maximus was the second prince of Elaris. The direct heir to the throne since his elder brother, Raziel, had given up on his birthright. There was no way a Demi God could match him, no matter how special Cedric’s situation was.

Yet here they were fighting almost as equals. Maximus was able to push Cedric, failing straight into the nearby river. The water evaporated as soon as his body touched the water.

Maximus frowned, his eyes going to the tsunami. He had to stop it, stop Cedric’s spell..

Who was he joking with? The annoying bastard didn’t even give him the chance to catch his breath. Cedric flew right up, his entire body was covered with black marks.

His eyes filled with murderous intent targeted at Maximus. The god smirked. "How interesting." He chimed.

Cedric attacked again. Their powers continued to clash. The water was slowly approaching the banks. The ports were starting to flood..

Silvanius wondered if he had enough time. He glances at the mountain where the old temple was. They could not use the tunnels because the palace was already buried in rumbles. "Let’s head to the mountain." He announced.

Alfonso nodded, and they started rushing for the horses. Back at the cathedral, Astrid and Bernice had lost hope. The princess just stood struck waiting for death. A sad smile on Astrid’s face as she thought of her life, her husband.

She squeezed her daughter’s hand. Diana glanced at her mother confused. She didn’t understand her mother’s actions. "Mother." Diana blurted. She was worried about her father, Eris was fighting against Cedric’s men

They already knew of the invasion. Either way, they were all going to die. Astrid thought that this was the right moment to tell her daughter, while Eris hated her. It wasn’t because of the scandals or the fact that she loved her brother.

She smiled. "Everything will be fine," Astrid said. Death was not such a bad thing. The only ones who knew Diana wasn’t Eris ’ daughter were she and Eleanor.

Now they would be buried with the secret. A kingdom built on lies and blood was going to end.

At the ports, an old sailor stared in despair, the waves washed the ships towards the land, crashing and destroying everything in their path. "So this is the end." The watchman said, standing on the harbour. He didn’t bother running like the others who were frantically screaming and scrambling for their lives

Even in this chaos, thieves were trying to loot. A large ship was coming towards him. He closed his eyes, his life flashing before his eyes.

Just when he thought, it was over. Everything dropped in silence. He opened his eyes and the ship was barely an inch from him.

Terrified, he screamed and then fell on his bitt. The dark clouds cleared, the water fell back, and everyone was looking up into the sky. Some are speechless, others silently cry

It was the sun, no, it was a man, but it was neither. "Cassius." The old man blurted staring at the figure of the man in the sky, his presence burning and bright like the sun

His gold wings flapped slowly, as his ginger hair burned in the sun. It was the god of the sun some called him. Cassius, the god of wisdom. The gods had saved them

The old man started to cry. Everyone was awed by Cassius’s presence; even the thieves paused. They have never felt something like it. It was like a strong presence with instilled fear. Cassius had a strong presence, but it wasn’t terrifying like his brother Maximus.

His presence carried warmth and hope. Hope he had given to the people of Draconia. Silvanius stopped on his horse. He could feel his magic resonating with Cassius.

He knew immediately it was him. Just as Cassius had appeared, he disappeared in the blink of an eye. The people cried out in joy, they didn’t know it wasn’t over....a mad demigod was still rampaging.

Maximus smirked, grew once Cassius arrived, and the waves cleared. He wasn’t expecting his brother to show up. Cedric and Maximus were still high in the sky, exchanging blows too far for ordinary eyes to see.

This movement was fast to grasp. Cedric’s veins were bulging. His body was struggling to match Maximus’ strength.

"Do you need a helping hand?" Cassius asked. Maximus scoffed, "Handle the rest first." Cassius nodded then disappeared again.

He appeared next before Silvanius and his small group. Their horses came to a sudden halt. Zoltana was startled by his glorious presence and she fell off her horse. "Sorry for startling you." Cassius apologised, and he gave his hand to Zoltana.

The hermit witch could not believe a god had so much humility. She was too stunned, her hands hesitantly reaching for his ..

Just touching his palms burned her. She winced, and Cassius understood immediately. He toned down his power, his bright aura disappeared, and he was like a regular man, if not for the fact that he was almost 7 feet, if not taller and looked devastatingly gorgeous.

Zoltana was starting to understand why Cedric was so tall. Giving him a closer look, there was a subtle resemblance, just the ginger hair and blue eyes, which stayed in the Caephyr family for generations.

Cassius withdrew her hand, leaving the stunned Zoltana, and then walked towards Silvanius. "May I?" He asked for Abrielle’s body. Silvanius held his daughter’s cold body in his arms hesitant to let go.

He slowly shook her head. Cassius sighed then carefully said. "Let go, Silvanius, even though she is dead, her body can’t get into the wrong hands."

His words seemed to have worked. Silvanius gave him Abrielle’s body. Cassius frowned at the amount of blood. "In the end, she could not escape her fate."

"Thank you." He chimed then glanced at Lucian. A soft glow covered the unconscious prince and all his injuries disappeared. "He will be awake in a few hours " With that being said, Cassius disappeared.

Back in the sky Maximus finally forced Cedric down. He collapsed on the mountain about to fly out. "They must all die!!!!" He screamed.

Gold chains emerged from the ground wrapping up. No matter how much he fought, they didn’t break. Maximus’s eyes sparkled. He knew it was Cassius. He gripped his sword then disappeared

Maximus appeared behind Cedric, delivering the final blow that knocked him cold.
