CHAPTER 27: IT’S HER

Yi Shu is focused on being Chi Yu’s agent and hasn’t planned on signing any new talent yet.

Hearing Weng Lan’s words, he sighed: "I’ll wait until Chi Yu sets up his own studio to sign newcomers. I’m not considering it now."

After saying that, he paused and asked, "This person from Ancient Water Village, I can believe they’re attractive if you say so, but calling them stunning? Did you change your taste after visiting the countryside?"

Weng Lan shook her head: "You say that just because you haven’t seen her with your own eyes."

Yi Shu was unfazed.

Weng Lan’s face was beaming with excitement: "She doesn’t look like a village girl from Ancient Water Village at all, even Teacher Lin looked at her differently. I don’t care where she’s from, I’m signing her up. If she doesn’t agree, I’ve already thought of my tactics."

"Using your usual tactics of coercion and inducement again?" Yi Shu reminded her: "Weng Lan, you’re an agent, not running a pyramid scheme."

Weng Lan: "That’s none of your concern, anyway, I’m signing her."

Yi Shu and Weng Lan were classmates from the same school.

During the years when Weng Lan was a high-flying agent, she was even more unrestrained than Yi Shu, but her underhanded tactics backfired, and after a few years of laying low, she made a comeback.

The first person she signed after her comeback was Li Yan.

Decent looks, fairly obedient personality, support her now, and if it doesn’t work out, move on. After meeting Gu Yuan that evening, Weng Lan knew her chance to rise again had come.

"From what you just said, are you eyeing the boss lady of the agritourism?" Yi Shu recalled the heavy rain last night when the village chief went to pick someone up, and later Lin Xijiang went along to help. The person they brought back was the agritourism boss lady, wasn’t she?

Weng Lan nodded: "Yes, it’s her."

Yi Shu assumed that the agritourism boss lady was a young girl, a college graduate with little vision who came to the countryside to start an agritourism business, and was surprised that her looks were impressive enough to catch Weng Lan’s eye.

"Hearing you say that, I’m really looking forward to seeing what she looks like." Yi Shu said with a half-smile.

Weng Lan said: "If you don’t get to see her in person by noon, I’ll show you the video recorded by the photographers when they went to pick her up last night. We’ll have to wait for the photographer to edit it and clean up the audio. The noise from the heavy rain last night was too loud."

Lin Xijiang personally cooked, Yu Yang tended the fire, and Chi Yu helped out a little on the side.

Sheng Yi was in the courtyard teasing cats. She had just discovered two tabby cats by the small pond in the courtyard. The village chief said they belonged to Aunt Wang next door. Aunt Wang’s daughter worked in the city, and Aunt Wang often stayed with her daughter when she went to sell vegetables, rarely returning home. So, the two cats had no one to feed them and came to the agritourism. Yanyan had specifically set up two small bowls, and when Aunt Wang wasn’t around, she’d feed the cats.

Sheng Yi picked up one of the tabby cats and didn’t mind: "Yuanyuan has taken such good care of you to make you this plump."

"Who is Yuanyuan?" Li Yan squatted down beside Sheng Yi and asked.

Sheng Yi: "I meant Yanyan, the agritourism boss lady. How could you mishear that?"

"I didn’t mishear. I distinctly heard you say Yuanyuan." Li Yan insisted she hadn’t misheard.

Sheng Yi stood up, holding the cat: "Then it must be my accent, right?"

Li Yan: "..."

Chi Yu, coming out of the kitchen, was walking toward them, and Sheng Yi initially didn’t notice, until Chi Yu’s voice came: "Time to eat."

Sheng Yi was startled and her arm visibly shook.

Li Yan also stood up: "You..."

Sheng Yi shoved the cat into Li Yan’s arms: "Didn’t you hear it’s time to eat?"

"So annoying! Why are you giving me such a dirty cat?" Li Yan tossed the cat aside, and it meowed before running off. Li Yan brushed herself off, fearing fleas and cat hair.

As Sheng Yi passed by Chi Yu, she heard him ask: "Feeling guilty about something?"

"—— Who’s feeling guilty? I’m not a thief." Sheng Yi strode boldly inside to eat.
