CHAPTER 31: PRESIDENT GU IS YANYAN!

Chi Yu went to deliver vegetables and hasn’t returned; the crucial thing is that his phone remains unanswered.

Thinking he might be at the village head’s place, Yi Shu asked the director to contact the cameraman. The cameraman called back, saying Chi Yu went to the orchard alone and didn’t let him follow.

Yi Shu was puzzled, "Why did Chi Yu go to the orchard again?"

Xiong Yao shook his head, "Don’t know. Anyway, Chi Yu hasn’t been in a good state these past few months; nothing he does surprises me."

Yi Shu didn’t argue with this, because after that incident, Chi Yu had been absent-minded all day, always holding his phone. Those who didn’t know might think he was an internet addict, while those who did could only sigh heavily.

Weng Lan brought over a laptop and called out to Yi Shu, "The video from last night’s pickup has been processed with audio and copied to my laptop. Do you want to watch it, Yi Shu?"

Yi Shu waved his hand to refuse, "I probably don’t have time right now. I have to go find Chi Yu."

"Didn’t Chi Yu go to the village head’s place?" Weng Lan had already walked over. "I was planning to go to the village head’s place with you anyway."

She was going to meet the boss’s wife to discuss entering the entertainment industry; she had already prepared a draft contract.

Yi Shu sighed heavily, "Chi Yu went to the orchard in the back hills. I don’t know what’s going on. I have to go check it out."

"I see... alright, then." Weng Lan was about to close the laptop and decided to go by herself.

Xiong Yao squeezed in, raising his hand, "Sister Lan, let me watch it. I haven’t seen the boss’s wife yet."

Weng Lan’s laptop was new and had no important files, so she gave it to Xiong Yao, "Remember to charge it after watching. The charging cable is on the power strip by the TV cabinet on the second floor. I haven’t taken it."

Xiong Yao took the laptop and replied, "Got it."

After Yi Shu went to the orchard in the back hills, Weng Lan and the others went to the village head’s place. Xiong Yao pulled out a hidden bag of sunflower seeds, poured a cup of tea, and then sat on a rocking chair under the grape trellis.

He opened the laptop; the page hadn’t been exited. Yao clicked on the slightly edited video.

Xiong Yao had never seen the boss’s wife, who was rumored to be as beautiful as a fairy and kind-hearted. He had really wanted to meet her but never had the chance. Plus, the boss’s wife stayed outside to avoid affecting the recording.

Such a good girl, you won’t find many like her even with a lantern.

Xiong Yao opened the edited video full of anticipation, ready to catch a glimpse of the fairy’s appearance. The lighting in the camera footage was dim, and the sound of rain was nonstop; even with audio processing, it still sounded a bit noisy.

Xiong Yao saw Lin Xijiang’s figure and heard the village head’s very loud voice. The thunder drowned out the village head’s words.

Xiong Yao was about to crack some seeds when he suddenly heard the village head shouting in the rain, "Yanyan, Yanyan, are you alright?"

The person in front turned their head.

"I’m fine."

Plop—

The sunflower seed Yao was about to put in his mouth slipped from his hand and fell to the ground with a plop.

Time seemed to stand still. Xiong Yao stared blankly at the screen. As the footage passed, Yao rewinded and paused.

After a few seconds, Xiong Yao picked up the laptop abruptly, looking incredulous and stunned.

"...Is it President Gu?"

"Damn, it really is President Gu!!!"

"President Gu is Yanyan! President Gu is the boss’s wife!!!"

Immediately after, Xiong Yao saw Dao An’s face. How could he not recognize Dao An? When Brother Yu and President Gu were still together, Dao An, the secretary, appeared most frequently around President Gu.

Xiong Yao realized, quickly put down the laptop, and fished out his phone to call Brother Yu.
