Chapter 33: Lost All Your Dog Face
CHAPTER 33: LOST ALL YOUR DOG FACE
Chi Yu slowed down his steps as he found the orchard’s reservoir.
Visually, the reservoir was about 4-5 square meters, filled with green moss. To prevent people from falling in and being unable to climb out, the orchard had many such reservoirs, each just over a meter deep.
The shoes on his feet were ruined. Chi Yu couldn’t stand wearing them back like this, so he had to rinse them off before putting them back on and throwing them away.
Chi Yu went down the steps and briefly washed the shoe surfaces.
’Woof’
’Woof woof woof’
Huang, the small yellow dog, was barking at Chi Yu from the opposite side of the reservoir.
Chi Yu looked up and said coldly, "If you keep barking, I’ll throw you into the reservoir and drown you."
Huang: ’Woof’ ~ come on ~ come on ~
"..."
Chi Yu initially thought it was an illusion, but now realized it wasn’t; this mutt was indeed provoking him.
Chi Yu got up, only intending to scare the mutt. But the dog was bluffing; as soon as Chi Yu stood up, it turned to run, not knowing that in its haste, its back legs slipped.
’Plop.’
The small yellow dog fell into the reservoir, emitting ’woof woof’ sounds amidst the splashing water.
Chi Yu stood there smiling, coldly uttering two words: "Serves you right."
He ascended the steps, ready to leave.
The small yellow dog in the reservoir struggled, trying its best to float upward but kept sinking. Chi Yu glanced back and finally understood, letting out a soft snort:
"What’s the use? As a mixed-breed dog, you can’t swim; you’ve embarrassed all dogs."
’Woof woof gurgle gurgle’
After mocking enough, Chi Yu eventually returned, found a pole by the reservoir, and extended it into the water.
As he leaned forward, not paying attention, his phone fell with a ’plop’ into the water.
The splashing water was beautiful.
Chi Yu: "..."
"I really shouldn’t have bothered with you, should have left you to drown, you useless dumb dog." Chi Yu gritted his teeth in hatred.
Luckily, the steps extended into the water, and the phone landed on a dry step with no water.
Chi Yu bent down to pick up the phone.
Great, the phone was off!
His expression grew increasingly grim, and he prayed in his heart that it was an automatic shutdown due to a protective function, rather than water damage rendering it unusable.
Pocketing the phone, Chi Yu probed the water depth with the pole, finding that there were still stairs below.
Finally, Chi Yu took off his shoes and stepped into the water, but the distance was too far; his pants were completely soaked, and parts of his clothes were wet too, with green algae leaving ’novel’ patterns on his clothes.
By the time Chi Yu returned up the steps, carrying the dog’s head, even he couldn’t bear to look at his own sorry state.
Dumping the small yellow dog onto the grass, he put on his shoes to leave.
The small yellow dog shook off the water and continued following Chi Yu energetically.
Chi Yu, with a sullen face: "Scram."
Huang: ’Woof’
Chi Yu: "If you keep following me, I’ll throw you back in."
Huang was not at all afraid of Chi Yu’s scolding, wagging its tail eagerly at him.
Chi Yu couldn’t be bothered to deal with it.
In the time he spent at the reservoir, Yi Shu had already gone to the orchard’s warehouse, so the two didn’t meet.
The small yellow dog continued sticking to Chi Yu like glue, annoyingly persistent.
On the way back, Chi Yu swore that in the future, he would only behave well in front of Yuanyuan, but when she wasn’t around, he would stick to his indifferent ways completely, to avoid bad luck.
When the village chief came out, he saw a dirtied Chi Yu, with a dog energetically trailing behind. The dog looked familiar, and the village chief approached cheerfully, greeting, "Young man, you’re back again; whose dog is this?"
