CHAPTER 43: AN EYE FOR AN EYE
Chi Yu once thought he had woken up from a dream.
He had slept for so long, he wasn’t the least bit sleepy. Just thinking that he could only see Yuanyuan in a dream made him wish the dream could last a bit longer.
He reached out for his phone, didn’t find it, and then got out of bed.
’Hiss’
Chi Yu frowned.
He looked down and only then did he realize that his arm and the back of his hand were covered with gauze, and the real pain caused a brief confusion for him.
He was injured?
So... this isn’t a dream...
Yi Shu came in with a kettle of freshly boiled water, just about to open the door when it opened first. Chi Yu, wearing a coat, came out from inside. Seeing Chi Yu dressed to go out, Yi Shu blocked his path: "Where are you going now?"
Chi Yu looked sideways, giving Yi Shu a silent glance.
Just one glance, and Yi Shu realized that Chi Yu was going to look for President Gu.
But...
Yi Shu raised his hand to show Chi Yu his watch: "It’s already seven forty-something, almost eight. It’s still raining outside, why not wait until tomorrow to find President Gu? Have a good rest tonight."
Chi Yu asked Yi Shu expressionlessly: "Why didn’t you remind me earlier?"
Yi Shu: ?
Remind you of what?
Remind you... Yi Shu suddenly understood the reason why Chi Yu was so calm after waking up; he thought he had just had a dream and was quietly moved by it...
"I thought..."
"Enough." Chi Yu gestured to Yi Shu to stop talking, then turned and quickly went downstairs.
Yi Shu immediately chased after him: "Chi Yu, you just woke up without eating anything or even drinking water, Chi Yu! Chi Yu!"
By the time Yi Shu chased down, Chi Yu was already out of the farmhouse inn.
Yi Shu frantically grabbed an umbrella and ran out: "Chi Yu! An umbrella! You didn’t take an umbrella!" By the time he reached the door, Chi Yu was already nowhere to be seen.
...
Because Gu Yuan was always elusive during the day, Sheng Yi felt quite resentful.
Tonight, she deliberately decided not to stay at the farmhouse inn, coming over to stay the night with Gu Yuan to ease her longing.
It started raining outside, the rain was light, pitter-pattering with a bit of chill. Sheng Yi, worried that the village head’s tile-roofed house might leak, went to get two basins when Gu Yuan saw her and asked, "What are you going to do with two basins?"
Sheng Yi placed the two basins on the pear cabinet and said, "I’m afraid the house will leak, so if it does, we’ll use these basins to catch the water."
Gu Yuan couldn’t help but laugh, intentionally teasing Sheng Yi: "I’m afraid these basins aren’t enough, the rain leaking in would be like pouring water."
"Ah?" Sheng Yi was taken aback, anxiously stomping on the spot: "Then what should we do? Could it be we’ll wake up in the middle of the night in the Maldives’ Ancient Water Village enjoying a holiday?!"
Gu Yuan: "..."
Now Sheng Yi was really worried, she turned and headed out: "I’d better go get a big jar."
Gu Yuan: "..."
Afraid that Sheng Yi would actually bring a jar in, Gu Yuan pulled her back: "Although the house is tiled, it’s actually glazed tiles, my farmhouse inn is the same, it doesn’t leak."
Upon hearing this, Sheng Yi finally felt relieved: "Yuanyuan, you tricked me again."
The two laughed and joked together.
Just then, the village head came knocking on the door, calling out as he knocked: "Yanyan, someone is here to see you."
Gu Yuan walked over to open the door and asked, "Who’s looking for me?"
The village head stepped aside, then pointed to Chi Yu standing behind him, hair and clothes soaked, and said, "It’s this young man who’s always speaking ill of you."
Gu Yuan raised an eyebrow: "Speaking ill of me?"
Chi Yu: "..."
