CHAPTER 67: BULLY BACKED BY POWER

The sudden dog bark scared Lin Xijiang quite a bit.

His body shook fiercely as he quickly turned around and found it was a small yellow dog baring its teeth and barking wildly at him. It was incredibly arrogant, just like the man standing behind it.

The man had a mischievous smirk, bold and brazen.

"Chi Yu! Why did you bring a dog to scare people? What if it bites?" Lin Xijiang, still startled, felt his heart racing and his face turning pale.

Chi Yu stood there, coolly curling his lips, "I don’t even know this mutt."

Lin Xijiang was stunned. The day before, when they went to the village chief’s house, Chi Yu ran off with the yellow dog. Seeing the dog now, he naturally didn’t recognize it, thinking he mistakenly blamed Chi Yu, and was about to apologize.

Then he saw the little yellow dog circling around Chi Yu wagging its tail, then sitting down beside Chi Yu’s pants leg, sticking out its tongue with a begging-for-compliment look, as if it had accomplished something great.

Chi Yu: "..."!

Gu Yuan: "..."

Lin Xijiang: "..."

"This dog is so close to you, and you say you don’t know it?" Lin Xijiang realized it wasn’t a mistake; this was indeed the dog Chi Yu brought.

Chi Yu seemed much more alert at the moment. Although he still had a bit of a fever, he didn’t care at all.

He had hurried to trick the village chief’s little yellow dog to come over, under the guise of ’I saved your dog’s life, you have to help me chase my wife.’

Great, now wherever he pointed, the dog would bark there, obedient to the extreme.

Chi Yu was quite pleased.

Upon hearing Lin Xijiang’s displeased questioning, Chi Yu said expressionlessly, "A dog bites based on vibes. If it vibes with you, it won’t bite; if not, it barks a few times. You say it knows me, maybe. But I don’t know it."

This left Lin Xijiang speechless.

Gu Yuan found it amusing inside, Chi Yu’s immaturity showing regardless of time or place.

She didn’t pay it any mind, turning to leave. Lin Xijiang wanted to see her off a little more.

Chi Yu nudged the little yellow dog with his foot, "Go."

The phrase "dog reliant on human power" wasn’t just talk; the little yellow dog followed Chi Yu’s command obediently, rushing to bark at Lin Xijiang—

’Woof woof woof—’

’Woof woof woof woof—’

Lin Xijiang was somewhat afraid of dogs, especially rural ones. If he got bitten, he’d have to go to the city for a vaccine. He raised his foot to scare off the little yellow dog coming at him.

Though it was a self-protective action, Chi Yu interpreted it as, "Are you abusing the dog?"

Lin Xijiang got even more anxious, hearing Chi Yu’s accusation, feeling utterly defamed: "Why doesn’t this dog bark at you?"

Chi Yu shrugged, "How should I know, maybe I’m just better looking?"

Lin Xijiang: "..." Completely speechless.

Lin Xijiang had no choice but to dodge in another direction, while the little yellow dog happily chased him. Lin Xijiang had no option but to walk backward, helpless as the little yellow dog seemed addicted to chasing him, barking all the way behind him.

As Lin Xijiang got chased farther away by the dog, Chi Yu quickened his pace to catch up with Gu Yuan.

He didn’t say anything, just silently following her closely.

Gu Yuan heard footsteps behind her, unsure who it was, so she stopped and turned to look.

Seeing it was Chi Yu, she asked, "What’s up?"

Chi Yu’s eyes held a hint of a smile, pretending he hadn’t been caught, "I’m just walking this way too."

As soon as he spoke, Gu Yuan stepped off the path to make way: "Then you go ahead?"

Ladies first, but to Gu Yuan, it became gentlemen first.

Chi Yu pursed his lips into a straight line, looking at Gu Yuan, wanting to say something, but eventually held it back, stepping forward to walk ahead.
