The Witcher: Make the Witcher Great Again
Chapter 276 276: Deep Blue, Add Some Points for Me!
Despite Tissaia's assurance, Lynn was still worried, thinking of a certain character from the lore.
"But I heard that Kaedwen's court advisor is Sabrina Glevissig. She's not only a high-level sorceress but also impulsive, short-tempered, and prone to rage. What if she..."
Tissaia nodded. "I will speak with her privately and tell her, point-blank, that Aretuza has interests in the Blue Mountains. I will have her refuse to offer Henselt any support or assistance."
"Will she agree?"
In response to Lynn's question, Tissaia said, "She will. Sabrina owes Aretuza a favor from long ago, and I will use that favor as leverage. Furthermore, due to Sabrina's own personality, her relationship with Henselt has never been particularly harmonious."
"She often openly contradicts Henselt in front of many people. You should know that even a noblewoman wouldn't get away with that so easily. But every time, Henselt has backed down during his conflicts with Sabrina. Lynn, do you know why?"
What other reason could there be? Lynn looked at Tissaia and said, "Because she has Aretuza as her backing?"
Tissaia smiled. "You are very clever. That's exactly right. Ban Ard, the other great magical academy in the North, is within Kaedwen's borders. However, due to an old incident, the Ban Ard academy has no love for the king of Kaedwen and refuses to provide any services to the Unicorn dynasty that rules the kingdom. So, Henselt needs the magical support of Aretuza from the other side of the North."
"Neither Henselt nor Sabrina can afford to refuse Aretuza."
And the events that followed unfolded exactly as Tissaia had predicted. Using her magic, she transported the other five unconscious riders to different villages at the foot of the Blue Mountains.
These men, just like Kiusa, were terrified by the curse Tissaia had cast upon them. Due to their armor and crests, they were soon brought before Henselt.
What happened next was just as Tissaia had foreseen. Although Henselt tried desperately to conceal the news of the "wraith" in the Blue Mountains, the story, like the cold wind blowing through a ramshackle old house, spread throughout the entire kingdom of Kaedwen.
From Ard Carraigh to Lyria, everyone in Kaedwen was talking about the haunting of the Blue Mountains. The idea of settling there was a nonstarter; some of the villages at the base of the mountains even planned to relocate as a group to escape the area.
With no other choice, Henselt approached his court advisor, hoping Sabrina would deal with the so-called "wraith." Sabrina, who had already reached an agreement with Tissaia, feigned a trip to the Blue Mountains. She was gone for less than a day before she used a portal to return to the palace.
She told Henselt that the spirit was too powerful to be dispelled. If they tried to force it, they might not succeed and would risk angering it, causing it to leave the Blue Mountains and perhaps haunt the entire northeast region of Kaedwen.
Henselt, a man who feared nothing, was finally convinced. He never again spoke of advancing north.
This was a minor interlude. Lynn moved on and didn't dwell on it. His life returned to its routine.
Two months later, Lynn opened his stat panel:
Viper Venomous Arts (Initiate) Griffin Meditation (Initiate)
A smile spread across Lynn's face. His hard work over the past two months had paid off. The skills had finally appeared on his stat panel. It had taken a little longer than he'd expected, but it didn't matter. Now that they were there, he could max them out instantly.
For the last two months, besides studying the Viper Venomous Arts and Griffin Meditation, Lynn had spent his time hunting monsters deep in the Blue Mountains. With his current skills, he could go toe-to-toe with almost any opponent as long as he wasn't facing a large group of men or monsters.
He had already taught the theoretical knowledge of Phoenix Archery to the elves. They only needed to follow his instructions to continue training steadily. Since he didn't need to teach archery, he used that time to hunt. He knew it would take a large number of attribute points to max out his skills.
Fortunately, his Golden Finger had a major advantage. Unlike the Golden Fingers of some other transmigrators, where you gained less and less experience from killing low-level monsters as your own level increased, his stat panel didn't have this problem. Whether he killed an animal or a monster, the experience he gained remained the same.
With his efforts, by the time "Viper Venomous Arts" and "Griffin Meditation" appeared on his panel, he had accumulated 16 attribute points from monster hunting. That was enough to max out both skills in one go.
Without further ado, Lynn first upgraded "Viper Venomous Arts."
Viper Venomous Arts (Initiate) - Viper Venomous Arts (Master/Max) New Perk: Lead Stomach (Poison Resistance +100%)
Innumerable memories of late-night study sessions and brewing poisons in a dim laboratory flooded into Lynn's mind. These memories merged with his brain and body, making it feel as though he had truly experienced them. Once the transfer was complete, he closed his eyes, raised his hands, and began a performance without any props. He pretended there was a full alchemy set in front of him and started to mix the Serpent's Eye poison.
The Serpent's Eye poison required master-level venomous arts to create, but Lynn completed it flawlessly and effortlessly. Although it was a mock performance, Lynn was confident that he could produce a perfect batch of Serpent's Eye if he were in a real alchemy lab.
The new Lead Stomach perk was the icing on the cake. His previous perk, Mutagenic Enhancement, had already reduced potion toxicity by 30%. With an additional 100% poison resistance, it meant he could drink more potions in special situations. For a witcher, more potions meant more combat power.
Next, Lynn upgraded "Griffin Meditation."
Griffin Meditation (Initiate) - Griffin Meditation (Master/Max) New Perk: Arcane Burst (Sign Power +100%, Sign Chaos Energy cost -20%)
When Griffin Meditation was upgraded to Master/Max, he felt a rumbling sound in his mind. Immediately afterward, his already mutated organs began to transform once more.
