    [SAMANTHA’s Point of View]

Dominic never left my side after we decided to continue walking around the dark ck Forest. That argument with Killian put tension between the three of us and I couldn’t understand why I had to deal with those two when I was just supposed to look for Moon Wolf Spring alone.

How many times had passed? One? Two? I had no idea, but it felt like we were just walking in circles inside the forest, despite the guidance on the map.

I didn’t know what was wrong or whether the ck Forest was deceiving us, as all the paths appeared identical to me.

My husband’s hands were on my elbow, hip, or hand, and I couldn’t understand why he had to be so touchy and possessive in front of Killian when he knew that the MoonStone Alpha was already mated with the MoonStone Witch.

I wanted to feel annoyed by his childishness, but I ultimately found myself enjoying it instead. He had been very busy for the past week, so we didn’t even have time to talk alone, even for a minute.

And even though Killian was there with us, it still felt good to have my husband by my side despite that awkward atmosphere between us...

My foot slipped when we had to climb a boulder and I gasped loudly.

    “Careful—”

Dominic pushed away Killian, who was about to catch me. My husband caught me, and he red at Killian, who looked confused about what had just happened. His hands were still gesturing to catch me, but I was already in my husband’s arms, and we were both staring at each other, surprised by what happened. Dominic’s brows remained frowning as he put me down gently on my feet.

“Be careful,” he murmured and then tucked my hair at the back of my ear. “The boulders are slippery because of the fog in this forest.”

“Yeah,” I just said, smiling awkwardly at my husband as I secretly looked at Killian, who was scratching the back of his head and slightly shaking his head as he grinned. I didn’t know what was up with the two but it seemed as if Killian enjoyed annoying the hell out of Dominic.

    “Jump on my back.”

    “What?”

“You heard me, love. On my back.”

“I can climb on my own, Dominic,” I frowned at my husband. “You don’t have to carry me.”

“Yeah, you don’t have to carry her, Dominic. Sam is a grown, capable woman.”

“Shut up, Killian,” My husband and I uttered at the MoonStone Alpha in our t, annoyed voices. Killian just silentlyughed and climbed the boulders first, leaving me alone with my husband, who was already staring at me, waiting for me to hold on to his shoulders.

“Come on, love. We need to hurry before the kids find out we are not in the Pack Manor.” Dominic said in his gentle tone as the expression on his face softened after knowing that Killian wasn’t anywhere near us. “We have to get to the Moon Wolf Spring before sunset.”

I sighed heavily as I wrapped my arms around his shoulders, allowing him to carry me while he started climbing the boulders. “You know you don’t have to do this, Dominic. I can find the ce on my own and I can defend myself. You have more important things to do in the pack. I don’t like the council knowing that you are gone again when everyone there is looking forward to your presence every single day.”

“You are more important than anything else.” He said in his stubborn tone, and I suddenly felt overwhelmed that I couldn’t think of anything to say back to him. I was happy and scared at the same time, but feeling my husband’s warmth was the most amazing feeling, and I couldn’t remember thest time I was so close to him like this.

“I missed you...” He whispered to me as I felt the heat of his body start to rise a bit. “I’m sorry, I got very busy. I wish I had more time with you and the kids.”

His apology made me smile a little as I pressed my cheek on his back. I felt him freeze for a second, but then he continued his climb like I didn’t weigh anything for him.

“Hmm...” I hummed as I felt his warmth against the side of my face. “I understand that you are a very busy person, Dominic. And I wish you had more time for me and the kids, too, but we are in the middle of the war and you have so many things to do and to attend, and I understand.”

Both of us turned silent for a whole minute and just felt each other’s warmth until Dominic reached the top of the boulders, and I saw Killian waiting for both of us; his brows were raised in surprise the second he saw me embracing my husband on his back, and my cheeks burned bright red.

“Do you see it?” Dominic asked Killian with a serious face as soon as I got down from his back. “Do you see the valley from across this hill?”

“Yeah, it’s visible despite the thick fog,” Killian answered after he squinted his eyes using his werewolf eyes. “You think the Moon Wolf Spring is in there? Behind that valley?”

“The map says it’s there,” I answered as I looked down at the map using the small shlight I fished inside the bag that Killian gave me. “Let us all hope that it is really there, based on the hologram that the Wolf ne showed. We have to go back to Pack Manor if we ever fail to find it tonight.”

To tell you the truth, I never wanted to go back. And I knew that Dominic had seen it on my face the moment our eyes met, and he saw the worry and fear in my eyes. I had to find that Moon Wolf Spring no matter what. I didn’t know how long Dominic could suppress that curse in him. Maybe he was not telling me how much he suffers from it, but I could tell through the bond. He was in great pain. And I never wanted him to suffer like that anymore. He could hide it from everyone, all he could. But he couldn’t hide it from me.

    And he knew that.

He couldn’t hide anything from me—just as it was difficult for me to hide my feelings for him at that moment.

Dominic fumbled and reached for his jeans pocket, surprised by what he saw on his phone. I didn’t know there was a reception in this part of the forest, but I was surprised as well when I looked at it and saw my son, Devon, on the screen, despite that it was Liam’s number.

“Devon?! Why are you still up at this hour of the night?! I said as I snatched the phone from my husband’s hands, furious that my son was still awake and tried to contact his father with Liam’s phone. “How did you get your Uncle Liam’s phone!?”

“Mom, I have no time to exin—”

That’s when my brows deepened as fear started to crawl in my chest. “What is happening there, Devon? Are you and Diana in danger? What ce is that? Why is it so dark in there? I can barely see you in this video call—”

“I am in the dungeon, Mom!”

Even Killian and Dominic were rmed at what they heard, and they both stood behind me as they looked down at the screen of Dominic’s phone, where Devon was alone in the middle of the darkness.

Cold sweat started to form on my forehead.

“What are you doing there, Devon?! Where is your Uncle Liam? How did you get his phone? You have so many exnations to do once I get back there, young man!” I scolded him, my eyes nearly filled with tears as I said in panic, "Get out of that ce, please!" Go back to your sister!”

‘You have to listen to me, Mom! The Phantom Lady was a victim too!”

“What are you talking about—” I turned around at Dominic with panic in my eyes and he took the phone to talk to his son instead as I trembled in his arms.

“Devon, I need you to get out of the dungeon now!” Dominic spoke in a strict tone, but Devon remained in his position. He looked scared of me and his father, but there was hesitation on his face—like the urge to exin something.

“Okay, okay, son, tell me. Tell me everything you know. And then get out there, okay?” I spoke as calmly as possible while pulling the phone closer to me so that Devon could see the fear on my face. “Please, tell me, son. What is it?”

“The Phantom Lady,” he said again in his small voice. “I had seen her in my dreams, Mom. I saw how she was forced by her own father to do such dark, evil things since she was a kid. She grew up with the darkness surrounding her, making her live in constant fear. We have to save her, Mom. I believe she is not totally evil!”

    “But Devon—”

    “Devon?!”

The signal was lost, and I thought my heart would explode as I stared at the dark screen of my husband’s phone.

    “We have to go back—”

Killian’s next words were cut off when Dominic’s phone ringtone chimed again, and my husband said in a grave tone, "Liam texted me. He has Devon get back to their room, love. "Should we go back?" he asked, noticing the pale look on my face.

“No, we have to go to the other side of the valley,” I said, still adamant about my decision to go to the Moon Wolf Spring. We can’t go back empty-handed.” My heart was filled with fears, but I knew that Liam and Madison would take care of the kids while we were gone.

I had to get that curse Dominic needed!

“Are you sure about your decision?” Killian asked me as he looked over the valley with a skeptical look on his face. “Because I can tell this will never be easy.”

Dominic and I looked at where Killian was staring, and my eyes widened at what I witnessed.

There was a gigantic creature guarding the arch, which was the entrance of the Moon Wolf Spring. The fog was too thick to determine which creature it was, but I knew this would never be easy for the three of us to enter the ce.

“What are we going to do, then?” I asked, half gasping at the scary sight.

“We pray for the Moon Goddess to help us,” Dominic murmured as he started walking down the hill and straight to where the valley was.
