They Want Me Back When It’s Too Late

“Hmph, at least you’ve got a bit of conscience.” Peter let out a cold snort, then lifted his foot, and kicked Madeline in the waist. b“/bbWettf /bMarry up
Madeline’s face twisted with pain, but she forced a smile and nodded in agreement. When home and handed it over, they still grumbled.

“That’s all? Less thanst time. You lousy girl, are you trying to fob us off like beggars?” Peter said, reaching for her phone.
“Dad, what are you doing?” Madeline panicked and dodged quickly.
“My phone’s broken. Give me yours,” Peter said.
Madeline nearly lost her temper when she heard that, but she didn’t dare argue back. In the end, she had to spend more money to buy her parents two new phones just to get rid of those leeches.
After seeing them off, Madeline stared at her nicely kept apartment, utterly drained.
‘Maybe I really should move,‘ she thought. ‘I have no job now, no help from Brian. If those two leeches keep draining me dry, they’ll drag me down for life. Without money, all my ns would be meaningless. Thinking that, Madeline started looking at apartments.
Of course, in the meantime, she didn’t forget bto /bsend all kinds of harassing messages to Jessica–the one she’d decided was to me.
‘If I’m not happy,’ she thought, ‘you surely as hell won’t be either.‘
At Grant Group, Sana had just finished reporting Inkspire Studio’s design theme for the next quarter and was waiting for Jessica’s feedback. But when she looked up, she saw Jessica pressing her lips tightly, staring hard at her phone.
Sana froze for a second and suddenly remembered. She stepped forward, reaching for Jessica’s phone. “Is that bitch bothering byou /bagain?”
Jessica reacted fast, dodging out of the way. Her face was tight as she said, “Watch yournguage.”
As she spoke, she gently touched her stomach, thinking, ‘Little ones, please don’t pick up habits from Sana.‘
Sana looked sheepish. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to lose it. Tell me, did she start pestering you again?”
Jessica lowered her eyes and said nothing. She just looked down, turned off her phone, and set it aside. Then she looked up at Sana and said, “It’s work time now. Let’s not talk about personal stuff.”
“You didn’t deny it, so that means it is her. How can she be so shameless?” Sana was practically fuming. “Jessi, just say the word. I’ll get someone to sort her out right away.”
Sana hadn’t been one for violence before, but after seeing just how shameless Madeline could be, she’d changed her mind.
‘Sometimes, dealing with people like that, you need to get a little rough to make them listen,‘ Sana thought.
“Enough. What are you talking about?” Jessica snapped. “This is a society withws. I don’t want to have toe pick you up from the police station.”
“So we just let it go?” Sana grumbled, clearly indignant.
Jessica looked down and shook her head. “Let it be. She’s not having an easy timetely.”
Jessica thought, ‘Madeline has been messaging me a lot more often recently, and her tone was getting more and bmore /bworked bup/b. bIt’s /bobvious bshe’s /bbeen hit hard by something, with nowhere to let it out, so she turned to me.”
The thought made Jessica almost want tough. ‘It really is a cycle, isn’t it?‘ she thought.
