Sana watched the freshments flooding in, and anger surged through her chest. “They don’t know anything about what really happened! How can they say that about Jessica?”

‘Everything is Brian’s fault, so why are they saying Jessica brought this on herself?‘ she thought. ‘Jessica is innocent enough. She’s suffered enough already.’

The more Sana read, the angrier she got. “These people arepletely blind!”

“Someone’s obviously pulling the strings here,” Wesley said. He was calmer than she was, which meant he could see the bigger picture.

“Who the hell is behind all this crap? It’s absolutely disgusting,” Sana cursed angrily, then grabbed her phone and went to find Gabri so they could figure out what to do.

The two of them spent ages discussing it, but in the end, they realized they could only let it blow over naturally.

Jessica was still unconscious and couldn’t give them clear instructions, which made it even harder for them to take action.

‘What if we make some rash decision to help, and then Jessica wakes up and gets upset about it?‘ Sana and Wesley shared

the same thought. ‘That could mess with her recovery.’

But just sitting back and watching all those maliciousments about Jessica pile up left them both feeling helpless and

    frustrated.

Brian had spent the entire night in the hospital room with Jessica. Once he finally got her to fall into a deep sleep, he stepped outside only to run straight into Sana, who was standing there with a scowl on her face.

“What’s up?” Brian asked, his voice hoarse. There were still tear stains at the corners of his eyes.

Sana looked at him like that, and all the sarcastic remarks she’d prepared suddenly got stuck in her throat. ‘Damn it, I’m being too soft,‘ she thought. Finally, she stomped her foot and just shoved her phone screen in his face. “See for yourself.”

Brian looked at the trending topics about his divorce from Jessica and him kneeling to win her back. His expression didn’t change at all, but when he scrolled down to thements section and saw all the malicious spection about Jessica, the atmosphere around him instantly turned ice cold.

Sana rubbed her arms, feeling a sudden chill in the air.

“I got it. I’ll have someone handle this right away. Don’t worry. And don’t tell Jessica about any of this,” Brian said coldly. He handed the phone back ito /iSana and strode away without another word.

At noon, Jessica woke up and instinctively reached for her belly. When she felt the familiar movement of her baby, she burst into tears. “Still there, the baby’s still there. Brian, we-‘

Jessica stopped abruptly. ‘Where is Brian?‘ she thought. The hospital room was empty. ‘So Brian staying with bme/b,forting me, holding me–all of that was just a dream while I was unconscious. Her mood plummeted buncontrobly/b.

But the next second, someone pushed open the hospital room door from outside.

“Jessica, you’re awake?” Brian’s voice was full of barely contained joy.

Jessica looked up to see him let go of a food cart and stride toward her with quick steps.

“Are you feeling okay anywhere? Are you hungry? Let’s get some food in you and then you can rest, okay? Oh, and don’t worry–the doctor said the baby is fine.” Brian carefully adjusted Jessica’s hospital bed and tucked an extra pillow behind

    her back.

Then, he pulled the food cart over and set a bowl of chicken noodle soup in front of her–soup he’d gone home early that morning to make from scratch.

“Want to have some?” Jessica looked at Brian holding the chicken noodle soup, his eyes full of hope as he watched her. Her heart softened unexpectedly.

“Have you been watching over me this whole time? What about my parents? And Dr. Finch–the restaurant incident wasn’t his fault,” Jessica said weakly.

When it came down to it, she was the one who hadn’t been careful enough. Wesley had already done everything he could to protect her.

“I know. Your parents stayed with you all night, but they’re resting in the next room now. Do you want to see them? After you finish this soup, I’ll go get them, okay?” Brian scooped up a spoonful of soup and brought it to Jessica’s lips.

    This time, Jessica didn’t refuse.
