They Want Me Back When It’s Too Late
Fast Life 50
One of the saleswomen handed Jessica the final receipt. “That will be 380 thousand dors in total.”
“What?” Madeline eximed, her voice rising in disbelief.
The saleswoman cast a subtle, disdainful nce at Madeline and thought, “This woman is the textbook definition of a shameless mistress. She even acts arrogant in front of the main chick
Jessica nced casually at the bill. The cheapest item was 19,000 dors, and the most expensive stuff cost 42,000 dors. Without a flicker of hesitation, she pulled out her card and handed it to the saleswoman.
Madeline burned with resentment, thinking, Why can Jessica spend so much money without blinking while I have to scrimp and save just to afford a basic outfit worth ba /bfew thousand dors?
I even have to put up with that old guy squeezing every penny out of me!
She looked at the neatly arranged shopping bags at Jessica’s feet, her eyes filled with envy. After all, the total value was several hundred thousand dors.
Madeline remembered how she used to asionally apany Jessica on shopping trips. Jessica would always find a reason to gift Madeline something.
Her very first luxury item was sent by Jessica. That most expensive business outfit in her closet was also from Jéssica as a gift for her promotion.
Madeline suddenly had an idea. She turned to Jessica and said, “Jessi, why are you suddenly buying so many business outfits? Do you really need all of them?”
With a sweet smile, Madeline casually reached for one of the bags on the floor. Each of those dresses was more expensive than the one she chose earlier. She hoped she could snag one for free.
Jessica also recalled how she used to give her heart and soul to help Madeline. A hint of irony touched her lips as she watched Madeline rummaging through the shopping bags with interest.
“We have simr frames, Jessi. These sizes fit me too,” Madeline said.
Jessica remained silent. Madeline took the silence as a sign of weakness and gullibility.
With a sharp eye, she fished out the most expensive piece from the pile, the zer dress worth 42,000 dors.
Feeling the luxurious texture of the fabric, Madeline lit up with delight and said, “I really like this one, Jessi. Can you please give it to me?”
Realizing that might sound too forward, she added, “If you miss Jake, I can bring him to see you.”
Madeline believed she had found Jessica’s weak spot and nned to use it to manipte her.
Jessica’s eyes turned cold. When the saleswoman came back with her card, she said, “Refund that one. I don’t want anything she has touched.”
She paused for a second and then added, “That’s dirty.”
“Jessica, you…..” Madeline flushed with embarrassment under the saleswoman’s sharp gaze.
Madeline clenched her teeth and thought, ‘Don’t me me if I take revenge on you after I marry Brian. Even if you beg me then, I won’t let you see Jacob again.
The saleswoman remained entirely professional. She promptly processed the refund and even suggested something of a simr style to Jessica.
Then she turned to Madeline and asked inly, “Would you prefer to pay by card or cash, ma’am?”
Madeline was furious. She believed Jessica was using her status to bully her and teamed up with the saleswoman to humiliate her. “I… I only touched it for a second. I didn’t even try it on. Why should I buy it?”
“I’m sorry, ma’am,” the saleswoman said politely but firmly. “Due to your actions, the customer requested a refund. That resulted in a loss for our store, so we require you to take responsibility.”
In just one sentence, Madeline’s face turned from flush to pale. She could not pay 42,000 dors in one go and did not dare to call Brian.
Jessica watched coldly as Madeline struggled to pay with two separate credit cards to settle the bill.
Madeline gritted her teeth and thought, Jessica, just wait. You will regret this!
Holding the 42,000–dor luxury outfit, Madeline didn’t throw insults at Jessica the way she had earlier.
In her mind, she was sure Jacob was Jessica’s soft spot. She had already begun nning how to use him to get back at Jessica.
Once she was in the car, Jessica felt utterly pleased. She muttered with a sneer, “Madeline, this is just a tiny price for your greed. Do you think you could covet someone else’s things without consequence?”
