“Sure, give me some.” Jessica didn’t even look up, tossing down another card as she spoke.

“y that one. Come on, y it,” Chase kept urging, looking like he was about to pull Lillian up and take her ce.

“Keep it down. I can y by myself. I don’t need you telling me what to do.” Lillian shook off his hand from her arm, annoyed, then lifted her hand, and yed a different card.

“Come on!” Chase stared at the perfectly good hand she’d just messed up, pissed off.

“What? If you’re that bored, go do what Mr. Atkinson’s doing and get me a fruit tter or snacks. I don’t need you bossing me around here,” Lillian said.

Lillian nced at Brian, who was carefully feeding Jessica raisins across the table, then back at her own boyfriend, who hadn’t done anything nice for her but loved telling her how to y. She only grew more irritated.

“Sabrina, are you thirsty? This milkshake’s good. Want me to feed you? Oh, and I really like this card of yours. Hang onto it for a bit, yeah? Let me get another look,” Connor, sitting behind Sabrina, said.

Connor watched Lillian and Chase bickering across the table and then nced at Brian and Jessica being all lovey–dovey diagonally across. He smirked, picked up the milkshake he’d already sipped from, held it to Sabrina’s lips, and cooed in a high, cutesy voice.

“You’re such a handful.” Sabrina leaned down and took a sip from the milkshake at her mouth, ughing as she scolded him. But she didn’t y the card he’d mentioned, just as he’d asked.

“I’m not. I’m super obedient, kinda like that card I told you to keep. y it when the timees, and it’ll work like a charm, trust me.” Connor rested his chin on Sabrina’s shoulder, trying to sound loyal.

Sabrina just shrugged, nomittal. But Jessica nced up at Connor, who winked at her.

Jessica smiled, thinking, ‘Guess I ought to step up my game a little. After all, the other two clearly have some pretty solid backup.‘

“Done eating? Was it too sweet? You want something to drink?” Brian noticed Jessica had stopped taking bites and hurried to check on her.

Jessica pulled her gaze away, ncing at the tall guy who’d been fussing over her this whole time, looking a little helpless. “No, I’m good for now. Not thirsty yet. And you don’t have to hover. Go eat something yourself. Fill your stomach.”

After all, Brian had hauled luggage upstairs earlier and tidied up the room. He’d really put in the work.

“Okay.” Brian was quick to obey. He turned and finished off the leftover snacks and fruit Jessica hadn’t eaten and neatly fetched fresh ones. He stayed by Jessica’s side, ready to feed her at the slightest look from her.

Spencer, who’d just finished his pear, turned to get another te, but it was still full of pears just like

    before.

Spencer said to Vanessa, “You’ve been ying for so long. You must be thirsty. Have a pear to moisten your throat.”

Vanessa stared at the pear held to her lips, fell silent for a few seconds, and didn’t refuse. On camera,

she had to give him that much face.

“Thanks. You eat the rest, though. I’m really not thirsty. Actually, your lips look a bit dry. You should eat more to stay hydrated,” Vanessa said.

Forcing herself to eat one pear on live stream was already Vanessa’s limit. She couldn’t bear the

thought of touching the rest, so she found an excuse to push them back to Spencer while cursing him

    inwardly.

Vanessa thought, ‘What an idiot! With so many fruits to choose from, he couldn’t even pick something

    else.‘
