This Is My Primitive Tribe

Capítulo 442: Chapter 256: Returning Fully Loaded_2
“On the distant southern border, I rode a bird for more than twenty days before reaching here.”
“That far…?”
When the Spider Tribe Chief heard how far away it was, she instantly lost interest in the Vine Tribe.
Aside from tribes with flying mounts, or migratory tribes like those on the Western Wasteland, most tribes don’t range very far, even the big ones.
She had originally thought, if the Vine Tribe wasn’t far, she could trade with them often. Insect wax was simply too precious.
But with such a distance, trading even once would be difficult.
The Spider Tribe Chief gave Jiang Xuan another once-over, thinking to herself that such a young Five-Color Warrior was truly rare, let alone someone who was a tribe chief.
“Chief Xuan, the spiders I raise spin colorful webs. What do you say we appreciate them together in my house tonight?”
Jiang Xuan shuddered as soon as he heard that, suddenly remembering a meme from his past life: ‘My cat can do a backflip. Want to come see it?’
The Spider Tribe Chief’s intentions couldn’t be more obvious. The female warriors around were already smiling meaningfully, while the male warriors looked at Jiang Xuan with envy and jealousy.
Jiang Xuan refused decisively: “Thanks for your kind offer, Chief, but I have urgent business. Once the trade is done, I need to leave immediately. Sorry.”
The Spider Tribe Chief’s gaze showed a hint of disappointment. It wasn’t easy to find such a strong, young man as Jiang Xuan.
Of course, since Jiang Xuan declined, she didn’t push it. After all, with a tribe as big as the Spider Tribe, and her being chief, she had no lack of men—not exactly desperate.
Soon, Hong Zhu arrived with two female warriors, carrying a pile of spider silk clothing.
The spider silk clothing was extremely tough, but not bulky—instead, it was astonishingly thin and light as a feather.
“Let’s begin the trade.”
With an order from the Spider Tribe Chief, Jiang Xuan and Hong Zhu promptly started the exchange.
Jiang Xuan handed Hong Zhu one stick of insect wax. Hong Zhu gave him three pieces of spider silk clothing. Trading one-to-three like this was a foolproof method.
When the trading was done, the Spider Tribe had gotten fifteen thick sticks of insect wax, and Jiang Xuan had received forty-five pieces of spider silk clothing.
With these spider silk clothes, the key members of the Vine Tribe would have an extra layer of protection in the future.
Jiang Xuan packed the spider silk clothing into his beast hide bag, tied it up, and then went to say goodbye to the Spider Tribe Chief.
“Now that the trade is done, I should be heading back. Next time I come, I’ll bring even more insect wax and other rare goods.”
“The Spider Tribe always welcomes Chief Xuan to come trade anytime.”
Jiang Xuan exchanged a couple of parting words with the Spider Tribe Chief, then was itching to leave as soon as possible.
Hong Zhu said, “Chief, I’ll escort him out.”
The Spider Tribe Chief nodded. “Alright then.”
After she said that, she turned and left—there were still plenty of things for her to do.
Seeing that the show was over, the other Spider Tribe folk dispersed as well.
Hong Zhu, just a little bit disappointed, asked, “Leaving so soon? Why not stay the night! The spiders I raise are especially beautiful—I really wanted to show you.”
Jiang Xuan felt terribly awkward—why did it seem like he’d suddenly become Tang Sanzang on the Journey to the West?
All these female demons just wanted to sleep with him.
“Next time, really—I do have urgent business.”
Jiang Xuan’s refusal made Hong Zhu even more crestfallen. She didn’t care for any of those weak male warriors in the tribe, and after finally meeting someone cool and strong, he wouldn’t even spend one night with her.
“Alright, then I’ll wait for Chief Xuan to come next time.”
Hong Zhu and Jiang Xuan walked through the rows of spider houses, finally reaching the open ground at the edge of the residential area.
Tangyuan was squatting there, bored out of its mind, watching some spiders crawl about in the distance.
If Jiang Xuan hadn’t sternly warned it already, it honestly would have loved to taste what those giant spiders were like.
When Jiang Xuan approached, Tangyuan perked right up, immediately stood, shook the dust off its feathers, and angled one wing down to the ground.
Jiang Xuan walked over to Tangyuan, turned to Hong Zhu, and said, “Chief Hong Zhu, I’m leaving now—so, we…”
Before he could get the words “see you next time” out, Jiang Xuan’s eyes widened and he left his sentence hanging.
Hong Zhu boldly hugged Jiang Xuan, and with seriously strong arms.
After quite a while, Hong Zhu finally let go, waved her hand, and said, “Go on, and don’t forget me when you get back. I’ll be waiting for you to come see the spiders next time!”
Jiang Xuan opened his mouth, but didn’t know what to say—this woman was way too gutsy!
In the end, he silently climbed onto Tangyuan’s back, with mixed feelings inside him.
This was his first time being outright hugged by someone—so completely out of the blue, with no warning at all.
“Eee-rr…”
Tangyuan flapped its wings and shot into the sky, circled a few times, then flew off toward home under Jiang Xuan’s direction.
Hong Zhu stood out on the open ground, looking up at that purple beast-bird and the man riding on its back. She watched until they disappeared before finally lowering her head, unable to help but laugh.
