Chapter 1346 - 689: Sensing the Activity of the Eternal Abyss
CHAPTER 1346: CHAPTER 689: SENSING THE ACTIVITY OF THE ETERNAL ABYSS
Li Ming’s speech was so fast that it left the three with no time to react. By the time they realized what they had heard, it was already too late.
Char stared in shock at Li Ming—was the primary target of the Eternal Abyss to kill him?
Boris and Gade were even more incredulous. The events unfolding before their eyes were entirely different from what they had anticipated.
They thought Li Ming might remain skeptical and attempt to probe their memories.
Or perhaps he would be arrogantly dismissive, considering the Eternal Abyss insignificant.
Yet, judging by his demeanor, he seemed to have been interacting with the Eternal Abyss for quite some time and was fully aware of why Tanwus attacked him.
"Still haven’t reacted yet?"
A thunderous voice echoed in Char’s ears, snapping him back to attention. Looking at Li Ming’s expressionless face, he hurriedly replied, "The number of Dominators or Ultimate Life Forms is only one aspect."
"The main factor is the Universe experiencing an ’overburdened’ reaction. There is no fixed cause—this is what we call the ’Eternal Abyss coefficient.’
"Whether it’s the number of Dominators, high-intensity battles, or the massive extraction of Cosmic Energy by civilizations, even the increase in overall Life Form numbers in the Universe, all contribute to this coefficient, thereby triggering the Eternal Abyss."
"If you liken the Universe to a Life Form, any viral factor that burdens the host will be eradicated."
So many influencing factors... Li Ming’s fingers rubbed together thoughtfully.
"Nevertheless, the number of High-level Life Forms is indeed a crucial factor," Char supplemented, sighing helplessly.
"Actually, we arrived as soon as we discovered the Evolutionary direction among your civilization, but unexpectedly, during the journey alone, your civilization gave birth to two Ultimate Life Forms."
"Hmm..." Li Ming couldn’t help but query, "If you didn’t want this evolutionary civilization to produce Ultimate Life Forms, shouldn’t you have stifled it from the beginning?"
"At the dawn of civilization, no one should have been able to counterbalance you."
Char spoke gravely, "That involves another matter: the Eternal Abyss consciously controls the evolutionary direction of each Evolution Era."
Huh? Li Ming’s heart skipped, finally feeling a hint of surprise.
Char explained, "Before the Titan Evolution Era was the Glory Dynasty, and before that was the Hengyu Empire. They were all stronger than the Titans, even once suppressing the Eternal Abyss."
"However, in the Titan Era, evolving to the Dominator Level became extremely difficult, and in your era, it’s even harder."
"Haven’t you wondered why the appearance of Dominator corpses was so coincidental?"
Li Ming’s expression flickered, understanding what the other meant: the Eternal Abyss was blocking the Evolution Path.
The Titan Evolution Path and the Genetic Evolution Path share one commonality in that evolving to higher levels requires the seeds of higher-level powers.
The Evolution Path is naturally obstructed, ensuring no Life Form can threaten the Eternal Abyss.
He knew the appearance of the corpses was suspicious but didn’t realize even the Evolution Path had been intentionally controlled.
"At the end of the previous Evolution Era, the Eternal Abyss guided the main direction of the next era. We didn’t dare approach," Char expressed helplessly.
"Towards the later phases, the secrets on us Titans became coveted, making us increasingly wary to come."
"Why completely eliminate each Evolution Era and preserve certain powerful Evolved Bodies instead of ensuring their continuance?" Li Ming questioned curiously.
Char replied, "His goal isn’t to exist indefinitely but to gradually erode the Universe. He can only erode portions at a time, needing time to digest it. Acting according to cosmic laws minimizes backlash."
Li Ming nodded thoughtfully; this explanation indeed unveiled most of his doubts.
He then turned to the three, "Do you have any methods to counteract the Eternal Abyss?"
"Unfortunately, no," Char replied, helplessly.
"So, you’re merely here to answer my queries?" Li Ming asked, speechlessly.
"We originally intended to warn you to abstain from evolution, but now we can only remind you," Char sighed, "remind you to commence the Fire Seed plan early, which might prolong civilization’s existence slightly."
"As for you..." Char hesitated.
"Should I start building my tomb earlier?" Li Ming interjected for him.
"That’s not what I meant," Char hurriedly shook his head, helplessly. "The terror of the Eternal Abyss is indescribable. Moreover, it’s crucially a part of the Universe itself."
"It’s impossible and hopeless to defeat it. While low-level evolution might still have a chance to survive, for anyone at the Dominator Level, they are bound to be consumed, being an integral part of the Cosmic Power."
"If one chooses to regress, perhaps survival is still possible, but since you’ve been targeted..."
Char stopped speaking; Li Ming didn’t refute him but instead said, "Thank you for coming all this way to remind me. However, since I’ve divulged some things to you, you won’t be able to leave here for a while."
Nagard’s expression slightly changed, but Char showed no particular reaction and nodded, saying, "We understand."
"And by the way, there’s one more thing." Char hesitated somewhat, then pulled out a rather inconspicuous pendant from his bosom.
It was strung with a silver-white metal chain, suspending a diamond-shaped crystal. The surface showed faint cracks, with an indistinct black glow emanating from its depths.
"Char!" Gade’s expression slightly altered and couldn’t help but whisper sternly, then glanced at Li Ming before swallowing his subsequent words.
Boris, beside him, couldn’t help but press his lips as well.
