This dream world did not have magic, cultivation, or even energy. In this world, technology reigned supreme.

Like in the first dream, Sun Wutian was an ordinary monkey. No, in some aspects, he was far inferior, yet superior.

Upon birth, Sun Wutian found himself in a clinically white room with other newborn monkeys. There was no need to hunt or do anything for survival because a human would appear and deliver food at a set time. There would even be cleaners coming in to remove the urine and feces.

The monkeys only needed to spend their time in leisure, but Sun Wutian knew the true situation. They were livestock.

Even at his lowest point, Sun Wutian had never faced such a dangerous situation. Although he had never been killed in his dreams, it didn’t mean it was impossible. He had faced death many times, but none of them were as passive as he was now.

If Sun Wutian died, his soul would receive damage, and he would not be able to enter a dream world again before his soul healed.

Sun Wutian attempted to cultivate. When that failed, he tried to sense mana, but that also ended in failure. He couldn’t even generate inner energy.

He had already sensed this world differed from the previous worlds he experienced, but that only made his situation more dangerous. Without appropriate knowledge, all his previous experiences became useless. So, Sun Wutian could only watch as his fellow monkeys disappeared one by one.

One day, it was his turn.

He left so obediently that the human leading him glanced at him twice. The other monkeys were restless, even if they were lured by food. Sun Wutian didn’t even look at the food. Instead, he observed his surroundings, hoping to find an escape, but his surroundings were barred tightly. Not even a mosquito could escape.

Since that was the case, Sun Wutian bided his time. He was led to a room filled with other humans wearing long white coats and masks covering the lower half of their faces. Feeling something was wrong, he wanted to resist, but he started feeling drowsy out of nowhere. Before he knew it, he only knew darkness.

When he awoke, he found himself strapped to a table. The humans were staring at him, observing him like a mere object and not a living being. Sun Wutian bared his teeth—or at least he attempted to. He found that his entire body had gone numb.

Sun Wutian could only move his eyes. He watched helplessly as the humans in white brought up a needle-tipped tool to his arm. The needle pierced his skin. Moments later, he felt something being injected into his veins.

Nothing happened at first. The pain came ten minutes later. It would have made a human scream in pain, much less a beast like a monkey, but Sun Wutian gritted his teeth and withstood it. The humans didn’t find it strange, thinking that the numbing agent they had injected previously had not worn off.

It was only thirty minutes later that they noticed something wrong. The numbing agent had a short duration to prevent the chemicals from interfering with the shot. By now, the strapped monkey should have screeched in pain, just like the previous ones.

The humans waved something in front of Sun Wutian and saw his eyes glaring at them. Since he was lucid, it meant that Sun Wutian was not screaming through his own will, which aroused the humans’ interest.

Sun Wutian didn’t have time to pay attention to them. Although he had experienced near-death many times, he had never experienced torture before. The humans' purpose might not have been to torture him, but it sure felt like it.

He could feel every organ, muscle, and even the blood flowing through his veins. The worst part was that he could feel a foreign object in his veins reaching every organ. It felt like a loss of control, and it was maddening. Sun Wutian had no doubt that if hair and nails weren’t dead objects, he would have felt them too, amplifying the torture.

The most infuriating part was that he could feel his body transforming, strengthening at a slow and steady rate.

The transformation felt like hours, if not days. When the pain receded, sweat coated his entire body. His pride made him refuse to faint under the torture, but the experience mentally drained him to the extreme. When he fainted, he could not see the researchers’ jubilation.

When Sun Wutian awoke again, he discovered that he had been moved to a private room. Although it was smaller than the previous room, it was much roomier since he was the sole occupant. He could not see any windows, but he could feel several gazes observing him.

Sun Wutian snorted and sat on the ground next to a fruit platter. He grabbed one and took a large bite out of it, juices flowing down his chin and dripping onto the floor. His teeth gnashed against each other with every single bite, as if Sun Wutian was taking out his anger and frustration on the fruit.

In the following times, Sun Wutian would find himself inexplicably fainting. Although he was still in the same room when he woke up, he discovered tiny scabs on his arms and knew it was from the needle-tipped tools. Sometimes, he would awaken in the white room again with humans all around him. Each time this happened, he would feel torturous pain, but it would also increase the strength of his power.

The power did not increase much. It didn’t reach the point of the Foundation Establishment Realm, nor did it reach the level of knights from the world of sword and sorcery. Even so, Sun Wutian could feel that his body’s power was increasing.

The more experiments Sun Wutian survived, the longer the interval between each shot. However, they still regularly drew his blood.

Of course, Sun Wutian wasn’t idle. Although he had many interactions with the humans, most of the time he was in pain or unconscious, gradually, he could remain aware of the outside world during the procedures. Using this, he attempted to decipher their language and learn it. With no reference, it took many years. Luckily, their language had many semblances to the language of his original world.

Sun Wutian thought he hid it well, but when the humans came in and addressed him directly, he knew the gig was up. With the mentality of facing death, he admitted it, because once his captors suspected his intelligence, everything he did would be under scrutiny.

To Sun Wutian’s surprise, the humans did not show any wariness. Rather, they showed joy at his intelligence. Not only did they not hinder his learning, but they accelerated it by teaching him personally. They even brought a mortal artifact called a television that could replay videos. It reminded him of the videos on the Xiyinet that he frequently watched—only these were educational.

Thanks to the abundance of information, Sun Wutian’s knowledge grew, and he finally knew what kind of world he dreamed of.

This world did not have any other intelligent life except humans. The humans lived on a planet named Bluestar. There were many animals on Bluestar, but only humans evolved to have sapience.

But that was it. Although they evolved, they could not cultivate or use magic. Their history was laughable, only a short hundred thousand years. Despite this, they reached a level of civilization that made Sun Wutian’s eyes widen in shock.

Despite only having a short maximum lifespan of a hundred and twenty years—most only lived to their eighties or nineties—they mastered technology to accomplish things that would trouble grandmasters and venerables. Because they could not rely on personal might, the whole of humanity pooled their efforts together after they forsook needless wars and united under one government.

Thanks to their technology, humanity traversed the stars, seeking extraterrestrial life. To their disappointment, they did not find any alien life, much less sapient life like themselves. Believing themselves to be alone in this vast universe, humanity terraformed many planets and created a galactic empire.

Eventually, war returned. The reason was simple: humanity had expanded too much, and the current government could not control it all. Humans in the two galaxies each formed a government. One called itself the Bluestar Federation, while the other called itself the Helix Empire.

Sun Wutian was a monkey with its genetic information preserved from Bluestar before humans travelled through the stars. Not only that, it was the animal closest to humans in genetics. He was kept in a research institute by the Bluestar Federation.

On the surface, human experimentation was illegal, so they could only use other animals.

And what was the purpose of the research institute? Longevity. Despite conquering the stars, humanity was still limited by their lifespan, and the top echelons of both the Bluestar Federation and Helix Empire sought to change that through gene modification.

The research institute had existed for thousands of years. They had some success, but only to the point of allowing humans to live to their full potential lifespan and increasing the health of their bodies. If humans did not maintain their bodies, their total lifespan and health would decrease.

The researchers never thought their experiments on extending lifespan would elevate a monkey’s sapience. Although it was not their goal, it was still an enormous breakthrough in science. Perhaps because of loneliness, humanity had attempted to elevate other animals to the same level as them, but they all failed.

Because Sun Wutian was the only live specimen, the experiments stopped, and he was treated as a national treasure.

The researchers extracted his blood and analyzed it, hoping to recreate this miracle. They even scanned his entire body, not willing to miss a single detail. Sun Wutian didn’t know if the researchers could create another monkey like him, but he knew that his current life was given by the whims of the Bluestar Federation. The moment they decided that experimenting on him was the best method to advance science, they would do so in a heartbeat.

To prevent this, Sun Wutian greedily absorbed knowledge. As long as he became important enough, no one would dare to touch him. As long as he could make himself a core scientist, the humans would only dare to experiment on him once he died or reached the end of his lifespan.

Without realizing it, Sun Wutian had subconsciously decided to give up breaking free from human control. It was almost impossible. Unless he could live for thousands of years, create a new civilization with himself at the core, and fulfill many other stringent requirements, he would not be able to fight against the combined fate of mankind.

Because he would have to unlock all the acupoints in his Dream Divinity Martial Body, Sun Wutian decided to focus on gene modification. The researchers did not restrict him, hoping to see the limits of his artificial intelligence.

Sun Wutian’s results shocked them. Thanks to his knowledge from the original universe and the dream world of sword and sorcery, he devised a serum to strengthen the body to new limits. It couldn’t extend lifespan, but it could allow one human to have the power and speed of four men. Even in the interstellar world, where technology reigned supreme, many weapons still needed soldiers. The galactic nation that had powerful soldiers would inevitably hold an edge.

His results eventually reached the point where he had many assistants. The top echelons of the Bluestar Federation chose to invest in Sun Wutian.

Although Sun Wutian made himself important and prevented anyone from experimenting on him again, he was still a fish on the chopping block. His life and death were left to the whims of the decision-makers of the Bluestar Federation.

Sun Wutian felt helpless. No matter how great his research results were, he was just a weak researcher with no personal power. As soon as he showed his genius, the humans had already started monitoring him in case he became a dangerous element.

Once he showed any dangerous signs, although his life might not be in immediate danger, his situation would definitely take a turn for the worse.

After developing a serum that could give one man the power of ten, Sun Wutian changed the direction of his research. Any more, and the results would not be worth it. He knew what the leaders valued the most, so he wanted to find a way to extend lifespan. If they didn’t, they wouldn’t have sponsored the research center for thousands of years without any significant returns.

Although it took decades, Sun Wutian’s research eventually bore fruit. Usually, it was far easier to increase the flesh’s power than to increase lifespan. More often than not, increasing the body’s power would consume its vitality, and by extension, its lifespan. And he managed to extend the maximum lifespan by ten years. Compared to the one hundred and twenty years of life, ten years did not sound like much, but it made the top echelons pour even more investments into the research institute.

With this accomplishment, Sun Wutian practically became the head of the research institute in all but name. The only ones he could not command were the security forces. On the surface, the security force was to protect the research institute, but Sun Wutian knew that it had the double role of monitoring him.

Thanks to his new position and power, Sun Wutian began to explore the possibility of the body. He didn’t just want to extend lifespan but elevate the level of life like in cultivation.

Sun Wutian thought he would continue to research until his death. He estimated that with his own efforts he could live to at least a hundred and fifty years, but during a routine experiment, soldiers invaded the research institute.

He was captured, but before the invaders could leave with him, the security forces shot him dead.

The Helix Empire had long grown covetous of Sun Wutian’s research results. After piling up defeats and failing to steal the research results, they took a brute-force approach. Sadly, the Bluestar Federation was more willing to kill the golden goose than allow the Helix Empire to profit.

Sun Wutian’s face paled when he opened his eyes. He clutched his chest and gasped from pain—not of the body, but of the soul. For it had been damaged.

Thankfully, Ancestor Fusang provided resources to heal his soul. It wouldn’t be instantaneous, but he would surely recover given enough time.

The failure wasn’t all bad. This death allowed Sun Wutian to not take the dreams lightly. He had dreamed many times. Even if some of them did not allow him to progress much, it made him subconsciously think he was invincible in his dreams.

Once he started constructing his own dreams, the damage would be even greater if he died.

Sun Wutian slowly explored the possibilities of his Dream Divinity Martial Body while he healed from his soul injuries. His experience in genetic research also made his path smoother, so it wasn’t all losses. To his surprise, he successfully opened all his acupoints. Ancestor Fusang even confirmed it.

His mindset changed. Since he had already reached the peak of his current realm without dreaming, he decided to undergo the Nascent Soul Heavenly Tribulation without another dream.

The Nascent Soul Heavenly Tribulation was more powerful than any recorded before. It was long accepted that the most lightning bolts a cultivator could withstand were eighty-one, but Sun Wutian withstood ninety-nine tribulation lightning bolts!

After entering the Nascent Soul Realm, Sun Wutian officially started constructing his own dream worlds. Although his first dream world remained stable while he slept, it immediately collapsed when he woke up. And the benefits he gained from dreaming were practically zero. He might have even lost more than he gained.

He lost a large amount of qi and soul essence. It only took some time to restore his dream true qi, but it took a long time for him to regain the lost soul essence. And that was with the aid of an immortal artifact bestowed upon him by Ancestor Fusang.

In the next hundred years, Sun Wutian spent most of his time sleeping. He wasn’t always dreaming, but during the times he wasn’t, he was constructing a dream world.

Through his many years of experience, Sun Wutian realized that a dream world couldn’t just spontaneously come into existence. At least, if it was to remain after Sun Wutian woke up, it would need history. In other words, Sun Wutian had to stimulate the creation of the universe.

Once Sun Wutian reached the peak of the Nascent Soul Realm, he underwent the Unity Heavenly Tribulation and successfully became a Unity Venerable. It was at this time that Ancestor Fusang drove Sun Wutian down the mountain.

Sun Wutian felt reluctant but still obeyed. To his shock, he realized that he was no longer on Earth Dragon Planet after walking past the mountain gates. The realization was instant because the gravity and stability of space were too strong. No, he had appeared on Third Heaven. No matter how hard he searched, Sun Wutian could no longer find the mountain he came from.

Realizing that Ancestor Fusang had a much nobler status than he let on, Sun Wutian traversed Third Heaven. He met many humans and demons. Thanks to the Dream Divinity Script, he had qi and a martial body comparable to a true immortal, meaning he was practically invincible unless an Immortal Monarch appeared.

Once he grew accustomed to his new environment, Sun Wutian settled down. The next step of the Dream Divinity Script was to lead other souls into the dream world. The more powerful and stable the dream world, the fewer people would realize and wake up.

To this end, Sun Wutian created Jade Dream City, a haven for stragglers and rejects. Whether they were human or demon mattered not. As long as they were citizens and obeyed the rules, they could live in Jade Dream City.

After nearly a thousand years, Sun Wutian opened his eyes in the city lord’s mansion and sighed. “My dream world still isn’t perfect enough. Unless I destroy it and create it anew… I have no hope for the Immortal Ascension Heavenly Tribulation.”
