CHAPTER 10: CHAPTER 10: SO BEAUTIFUL, DON’T MESS WITH ME

That night, Iris Crawford cleared out the guest bedroom for Lachlan Wyatt, while she took her fresh coffee into the study. Having not returned for five years, it all felt quite novel.

She opened a computer that hadn’t been touched in a long time and entered her account into a certain software.

[HS]I see Iris Crawford is online.

[Birdie]I’m here!

[Chestnut]Good evening, Birdie Crawford.

[Birdie]Good evening, Chestnut. Today’s wedding of Jordan Jacobs, thanks to you for hacking their computers and the lighting.

[Peach]Wouldn’t a movie star make their own entrance complete with lighting? By the way, did you like the words on the big screen?

[Birdie]I liked it. Seen it from King of Hell’s place, it’s not scary at all.

[Sarah]It’s a new beginning for you, Iris. We’re very happy to have helped ruin their wedding today.

[Pierce]That makes us sound like villains when clearly we’re delivering justice and it’s satisfying, right?

[Sarah]Oh, isn’t this the star Mr. Pierce? How come you have time to chat today?

[Pierce]Finished my promos. Where’s Lachlan Wyatt? Not online? Tell him to come out for a drive and some drinks.

[Birdie]He’s taking a shower.

[Peach]Ooh, so ambiguous, are you and Lachlan Wyatt an item~~~

[Chestnut]Ooh, so ambiguous, are you and Lachlan Wyatt an item~~~

[Birdie]I want to break his leg.

[Pierce]...Then never mind.

After typing this, Iris Crawford lifted her head from the computer, finding her old diary within the desk. Page after page was a chronicle of her past love for Jordan Jacobs.

How ridiculous she had been back then, thinking love could heal everything, not knowing it was this foolish love that pushed her into an abyss.

If she could do it over, she would never love.

As she walked out of the study, she bumped into Lachlan Wyatt, who had just stepped out of the bathroom, bare-chested. As Iris looked over, he had a towel around his waist, running his hand through his wet hair. Droplets trailed from his firm jawline down to his sensual Adam’s apple, finally resting on his well-defined collarbones.

The muscles on his tense, solid back gleamed with a post-shower sheen. Iris cast him another glance, "Why are you acting like a stranger? Why not just take off everything?"

Lachlan turned his face, exuding a steamy aura, yet his gaze was mischievous and untrustworthy. Raising a brow, he said, "I dare to strip. Do you dare to watch?"

Iris deliberately enunciated, "I’m rather curious to see."

Before the words finished, Lachlan pounced with the precision and ferocity of a leopard zeroing in on its prey. He pinned Iris, his voice dripping with danger, "Is teasing me fun for you?"

"It’s fun." Iris wrapped her arms around Lachlan’s neck, rubbing her chest against him.

Lachlan’s eyes darkened suddenly, smirking coldly. He remained so close to her, as if he might kiss her any second. His sharp nose barely skimmed her face, "That life of yours, I picked it up. Learn the skills from me, just don’t use them on me, understand?"

At that moment, it was as if she could glimpse the true iceberg beneath Lachlan.

Iris’s heart trembled.

She was so beautiful, like a little enchantress, coming back to her senses and softly saying to Lachlan, "In the future, don’t provoke me too often. Although my life was indeed saved by you, no one dictates how I should live it."

Lachlan grinned, his hand resting on Iris’s neck. It seemed a slight tightening could break her.

Iris waited for him to do it.

But alas, he didn’t.

Lachlan gently patted Iris’s face, his voice deep and tender, the words unmistakably suggestive, yet tinged with crisis and lethal intent, "How could I bear to, darling?"
