Chapter 151: I Love Him So Much, It’s Driving Me Crazy!
CHAPTER 151: CHAPTER 151: I LOVE HIM SO MUCH, IT’S DRIVING ME CRAZY!
Silvan Caine was ultimately afraid of Lachlan Wyatt, the kind of madman who would do anything. Over the years he had known him, the craziest things in their circle were all done by Lachlan.
This scumbag flaunted a face that was excessively handsome, yet his way of doing things was completely different from that face that could easily score full marks.
A wolf in sheep’s clothing, that’s exactly what Lachlan Wyatt was.
So Silvan Caine feigned surrender and raised his hands.
"Alright, dear aunt, you’re hurt, you’re the boss, I won’t come any closer, is that okay?"
Iris Crawford understood that business is business. Silvan Caine still brought Seraphina Colbert over, and she believed Seraphina could handle the rest herself. So her expression improved slightly as she said, "In the future, don’t say such unpleasant things in front of me. Women aren’t just for having children."
"Mmh mmh mmh mmh."
Silvan Caine agreed perfunctorily, not sure if he really listened, as he pulled up a chair and skillfully sat beside Lachlan Wyatt, "How are the wedding plans coming along?"
Lachlan Wyatt suddenly felt like killing Silvan Caine; how did this guy manage to hit on the thing he least wanted to think about the moment he showed up!
So Lachlan Wyatt gritted his teeth, "Silvan Caine, how about I buy you a plane ticket and you go back now?"
Silvan Caine sneered, "You’re trying to kick me out now that I’m here? Unlike those times you begged me to bring Seraphina Colbert over to accompany Iris Crawford?"
Iris Crawford was stunned.
So it was Lachlan Wyatt who asked Silvan Caine to bring Seraphina over...
Could he be that thoughtful?
Or rather, has he always been that meticulous, but just never bothered to show it to her?
Iris Crawford turned away, glanced at Seraphina Colbert, and began to change the subject, "What are you learning lately? I heard from James Chesterton that you want to enter his circle, is that right?"
"Yeah."
Seraphina Colbert blushed as she brought this up, "Iris Crawford, Iris Crawford, my brother told me, he said you’re really strong, you can teach me, you’re his prized student."
When Iris Crawford spoke about her area of expertise, the corners of her mouth naturally turned up, "Of course! Let me tell you, I’ve been wearing your brother’s vest, and I’m simply unbeatable in the entire Red Guest circle..."
Her words were cut off as Lachlan Wyatt sneered from across the room.
Iris Crawford glared at him fiercely, but considering that he brought Seraphina along and did a decent thing, she decided not to fuss with him and continued, "Dante just hooked me up with a computer, you should buy one these days too, so I can start teaching you from the basics! Better to do something while lying down than doing nothing!"
"Sure."
Seraphina Colbert had always had a strong interest in new things, and after being imprisoned for so long, the sudden freedom made her desire to survive and learn burst forth, much stronger than others. She turned to Silvan Caine, "Can you take me out shopping?"
Silvan Caine said without thinking, "No time!"
Lachlan Wyatt chuckled softly.
Silvan Caine gritted his teeth, "...I can manage to squeeze time if I have to!"
Without delay, Seraphina Colbert’s eyes lit up as she bounced in front of Silvan Caine, "Really! Do you understand computer setup, or should I consult some kind of PC-building expert..."
Silvan Caine couldn’t stand others questioning his knowledge. Hearing Seraphina Colbert ask if he knew about it, he immediately stood up, "I know! I’m the most knowledgeable in the world, okay! I’ll assemble a top-spec one for you, you don’t need to ask anyone else!"
Iris Crawford was amused by how Silvan insisted on saving face. How could a man be so concerned with saving face!
But it was good. With Silvan Caine accompanying, even though he wasn’t good to Seraphina, she would still be safe going out. So after a brief farewell, Seraphina Colbert followed Silvan Caine out to get a computer, leaving Lachlan Wyatt alone by Iris Crawford’s hospital bed.
Steven Rhodes stood guard at the door, peeking inside, afraid the two might start a conflict, then withdrew his neck again.
Noticing Steven’s small movements, Lachlan Wyatt sneered inwardly. This pretty boy really was persistent. Iris was about to marry into The Royal Family, yet he still dared to silently long for her. Was he bold, or just ignorant?
After a long silence, Lachlan Wyatt began, "Your injury will take a month to heal. Do you plan to stay in The Royal Palace for the whole month?"
Wouldn’t that be like giving Dante a month’s time to get closer to Iris?
By saying this, Iris Crawford just answered accordingly, "Yes, after all, I can’t move around frequently..."
"How about I send you back home? You’re more used to the food there." Lachlan Wyatt tried every way to get Iris out of The Royal Palace, but Iris rejected him immediately.
"I still need to discuss the wedding after I recover. Coming and going is too troublesome. I better stay in The Royal Palace."
Lachlan Wyatt’s heart sank hearing her refusal, somehow feeling uneasy.
"There’s nothing good about The Royal Palace."
Lachlan Wyatt took another long look at Iris Crawford’s face, as if trying to discern her true feelings from it.
But there was nothing there.
From the moment she crashed into the blade, it seemed all her reluctance for him shattered as well.
Lachlan Wyatt took a deep breath, "Iris, my mother always told me it’s best to stay as far away from The Royal Family as you can in this life."
Iris Crawford nodded, "I know, but everyone has their own way of living, Lachlan. You don’t have to keep persuading me like this."
She knew what she was doing.
Lachlan Wyatt clenched his fingers, feeling that Iris was moving further away from him lately.
Even if he could pull her away from others countless times, there was no way to bring their hearts closer, no matter how many times he tried.
Lachlan Wyatt wanted to ask, Iris Crawford, is it you who are the most heartless, that feelings can simply disappear when you say so?
Iris Crawford lifted her head, looking directly at Lachlan Wyatt’s face. He usually wore beauty lenses and rarely let others see his heterochromatic eyes, as if this secret was something only she and he shared.
Lachlan, is your soul also half dark and half pure?
"I don’t want you to think there’s any profit for you to fish out from here, just to marry into this reluctantly."
Lachlan’s eyebrows knitted together, showing that he was extremely resistant to this marriage, "Iris, you aren’t lacking money, so why bother?"
Listen to his words, it sounded as if Iris really was just caught in the pursuit of money.
Indeed, Lachlan probably looked at her this way from the bottom of his heart.
Iris smiled slightly, "Why are you so sure there’s no emotion between Dante and me?"
Lachlan’s heart throbbed fiercely, "What did you say?"
"Does it have to be just for money?" Iris spoke with sarcasm, her brows surprisingly alluring, she bared her teeth at Lachlan, "Can’t I have feelings for Dante? Can’t I marry him because I love him?"
Lachlan felt like his heart was being split in two, he stood up from his chair in disbelief, "You’re crazy!"
"I’m not crazy, you’re the one who’s crazy."
At this moment, Iris couldn’t differentiate whether the feeling in her chest was pain or pleasure, or perhaps, the word ’satisfaction’ was what it felt like.
Then why not let everything be unpleasant?
Lachlan, if I could give you even the slightest amount of the hurt you caused me, I wouldn’t hesitate.
She laughed with tears in her eyes, still giggling coquettishly, "Dante is the First Prince, graceful and above all others. Are you so sure I won’t have any feelings for him?"
"He’s not a good person either!" Lachlan’s eyes reddened, "He investigated your past, found you not clean, and you want to live with such a person?"
"He will slowly fall in love with me." Iris spoke word by word, the words were as sharp as knives, as if they were carefully grinding against Lachlan’s flesh, "Maybe if he discovers my dazzling points, he’d start to understand and accept me?"
"Iris, you!"
Lachlan was about to throw everything around him in anger, "Are you love-brained? Are you out of your mind loving him?"
"Yes!"
Iris enunciated clearly, speaking with the power and intensity as if she was killing, "I am out of my mind loving him!"
Lachlan was the one killed by her.
The man, so strong and handsome, was forced to retreat a step by Iris’s few words, and in the end, he couldn’t say a word to her, only angrily slammed the door and left, the argument ending abruptly with Lachlan’s sudden exit — it had begun just as suddenly.
Iris sat on the hospital bed, her hand clutching the sheet was faintly trembling, until finally she tilted her head back, forcing the tears that were falling to retreat back into her eyes.
******
Lachlan didn’t know where to go alone; in the past, he felt the world was his kingdom, and Iris was his too.
Now he only realized that the world was boundless with no place for him, and Iris wasn’t his either.
Drifting like a ghost to the outside of The Royal Palace, Lachlan stood numbly on the street, watching the couples walking by; so many people in the world were in love and happy, yet none of it was related to him.
It’s fine, he didn’t care.
This sounded like self-deception, but even if it was self-deception, it must be done. Lachlan took a deep breath and dialed a number.
"Hello?" Upon connection, a deep voice answered.
"I’m downstairs at your hotel."
"Madman..." After a moment of silence, the man on the other end said, "How did you know I was in The Kingdom of L?"
Lachlan squinted and sneered, looking up at the high-rise of the five-star hotel, "I just know."
Five minutes later, at the hotel room door, someone opened the door for him, and upon entering, Lachlan frowned, "What’s with the smell of alcohol?"
The man welcoming him was disheveled and it was unclear how long he’d been drunk, but he carelessly tossed a glass at Lachlan, not caring if he could catch it.
Luckily, Lachlan was quick and caught it securely, "Jude Hawthorne, are you out of your mind?"
Jude Hawthorne, unable to vent his emotions, threw another glass, but the carpet was luxurious and soft, leaving the glass intact.
"Seraphina Colbert and Silvan Caine came to The Kingdom of L, yet you’re hiding here behind their backs," Lachlan sat down, pouring himself a glass of wine, "I found out long ago."
"Do you want me to praise you?"
Jude Hawthorne was too lazy to pour wine anymore, simply tilting the bottle against his mouth, Adams apple moving up and down, allowing the highly concentrated alcohol to slide into his body.
"Silvan took her to buy a computer today, aren’t you going to check it out?"
Lachlan didn’t drink, sitting on the side watching Jude with indifferent eyes, "And what’s with your current state anyway? Looks like your wife ran off with someone."
Jude Hawthorne laughed halfway through drinking, pointing viciously at Lachlan, "Between the two of us, who looks more like their wife ran off with someone?"
Lachlan cursed under his breath, nearly splashing the wine in Jude Hawthorne’s face.
