Chapter 26: President Wyatt Is So Fierce, President Wyatt Is So Powerful
CHAPTER 26: CHAPTER 26: PRESIDENT WYATT IS SO FIERCE, PRESIDENT WYATT IS SO POWERFUL
Hearing Iris Crawford say this, even Jeremy Carter sitting in the center raised his eyebrows.
They always assumed women were weak, never realizing there could be one calmer and more detached than a man.
With Iris Crawford saying this, Crystal Rhodes had no choice but to appeal to Lachlan Wyatt. If Lachlan changed his mind, maybe she wouldn’t be taken away by the police. So, she turned her head toward Lachlan Wyatt, playing the victim, "Young Master Wyatt, Young Master Wyatt... Please have mercy on me, I really had no choice, I did have wrong intentions, but I realize I was wrong, Young Master Wyatt, please give me a chance..."
Lachlan Wyatt looked at her rushing appearance, furrowed his eyebrows, and then Dane Rivers blocked in front of Lachlan Wyatt.
"Let’s leave it to the law to decide."
"It’s all your fault!"
Crystal Rhodes screamed hysterically at Iris Crawford, "It’s all your fault! What’s so great about you! You were just drugged! Let me tell you, you’re no different from me. Today I’m being taken away, tomorrow you won’t have a good time either! How dare you not forgive me, you’re inhuman! I’m the only one in my family who can make money, my parents call on me to support my brother through school, to buy him a house. Without me, my brother would die, then you’ll be a murderer!"
Iris Crawford just watched her being taken away by the police. As she was taken, she yelled, blaming society, blaming the coldness of human hearts. Her downfall was simply due to not being cruel and ruthless enough.
Lachlan Wyatt didn’t look at Crystal’s desperate face filled with hatred, instead, he looked at Iris Crawford.
She didn’t do anything; she just didn’t forgive the one who drugged her and ended up being hated.
But at this moment, her fair face showed no other expression, just as if watching a play. After Crystal Rhodes was pushed into the police car, Iris Crawford shrugged both her hands, "This is all so annoying. Is it over yet, I want to have breakfast."
...
While others are wailing, you’re here talking about being annoyed to death.
All you can think of is having breakfast! Do you even realize you just sent someone to jail!
Jeremy Carter found it quite refreshing, most women around Lachlan Wyatt were boring, possessing only a beautiful face, always trying to please and flatter.
But this woman in front of him looked like she would unapologetically stab a knife into the chest of someone she despises.
Jeremy Carter leaned closer to Lachlan Wyatt and asked, "Where did you meet this woman?"
Lachlan Wyatt’s smile was inscrutable, "Picked her up on a rainy night from the roadside."
He still remembered the look on Iris Crawford’s face at that time, with thunder and heavy rain outside, she was covered in blood when sent to the hospital.
Peach sneaked into the operating room; it was the one time when wearing a white coat seemed normal, with a mask on, she told Iris Crawford, "Survive, and I’ll take you to meet someone."
When she opened her eyes again, still chubby, Iris Crawford saw Lachlan Wyatt’s face.
The wounds on her body had been stitched up, with stitches so delicate it showed how skillful the person performing the surgery was. Peach was on the side examining her wound after lifting her clothes. Lachlan Wyatt sat there, eyes shimmering like stars yet cold, so distant as if not in the same world as Iris Crawford.
He said, "I saved you, how will you thank me?"
"Does my family know?" Iris Crawford, enduring the pain, sat up and with her chubby hand grabbed the sheet beneath her.
"They don’t. I released two pieces of information to confuse the public. Some people know you’re dead, while others heard that your body was never found."
Lachlan Wyatt was an expert at manipulating people, spreading a second rumor to attack the initial one, causing everyone’s attention to focus on the rumors.
Nobody knew what the truth was.
Iris Crawford panted, realizing Lachlan Wyatt wanted her to disappear from public view, "Why save me?"
Back then, Lachlan Wyatt’s smile was naked yet alarmingly beautiful.
Though selfish and malicious, why did he possess such extraordinary looks?
He said, "Because you’re useful."
So, do you want to trade destinies?
From the moment she agreed to Lachlan Wyatt’s plan, Iris Crawford knew she had already sacrificed her soul to the devil.
Returning to the present, Lachlan Wyatt looked at the now alluring woman in front of him, curling his lips into a smile, "You and Peach sort it out yourselves, I have some things to discuss with them."
Hmm, Iris Crawford nodded, looking particularly obedient as she stood up to leave.
Dane Rivers felt everything ended too quickly; he hadn’t even processed it all.
Iris Crawford offered no way out, so no matter how much Crystal Rhodes pleaded or cursed, she never considered settling it privately.
So now, with Crystal Rhodes taken by the police, Dane Rivers started to feel guilty.
Because last night, he originally intended to drug Iris Crawford too, just didn’t expect Crystal Rhodes to act sooner...
Was it truly that she acted sooner, or had he been used as a tool as well?
Dane Rivers wore a complicated expression. When Iris Crawford passed by him, she gave him a thoughtful glance before following Peach out. Lachlan Wyatt and James Chesterton remained motionless until Iris Crawford disappeared, Lachlan Wyatt suddenly called out Dane Rivers’ name.
"Dane Rivers."
Lachlan Wyatt sneered, "Time to tell the truth, isn’t it?"
Dane Rivers broke out in a cold sweat. Previously, they all called him Rivers because he was the youngest, but being called by his full name now could only mean—Lachlan Wyatt was angry.
Dane Rivers gritted his teeth and took out the packet of drugs from his pocket.
"I didn’t use it, someone gave it to me." Dane Rivers stepped forward, "Crystal Rhodes has nothing to do with me, I don’t even know her."
Lachlan Wyatt looked at the drugs Dane Rivers handed over and smiled.
He slowly spoke a sentence, "Using rumors to attack rumors, to make the fog even more confusing, so that no one will know the truth..."
If you want to drug someone, it’s better to first create a scene by having another woman drug Lachlan Wyatt first. By then, people won’t distinguish who drugged whom; escape can only be achieved through chaos.
It seems the person who orchestrated all of this was quite cunning.
Jeremy Carter clicked his tongue, "You’re lucky you didn’t use the drugs, otherwise, could you handle the consequences of drug abuse!"
Dane Rivers said, "I just wanted to teach that woman a lesson."
Jeremy Carter chuckled, "You can’t even beat her, Rivers, you really need to boost your brain."
Dane Rivers’ face turned blue and white, "Oh stop it! I’ve confessed everything to you, anyway, I didn’t use the drugs..."
Jeremy Carter and they were all insiders, they shouldn’t disclose this affair to that woman, right?
Lachlan Wyatt confiscated the drugs and said coldly, "Try that idea again next time."
Dane Rivers’ body stiffened, hearing him say—"I’ll let you know being beaten by her would seem gentle."
Lachlan Wyatt being violent was truly terrifying. James Chesterton had experienced it and shrunk his neck nearby.
******
Today happens to be the weekend. Iris and Peach, having nothing better to do, decide to take a stroll to the mall. Iris is still wearing yesterday’s clothes, carrying a faint scent of alcohol, which makes her frown, "I want to buy a new outfit."
"Then let me take you."
With Peach holding onto Iris’s arm, the pair of striking beauties walking together attracts countless gazes from passersby. Iris thinks of grabbing a bite before shopping for clothes but finds herself unexpectedly in front of a trendy tea shop owned by Yvonne Jennings’s relative.
There’s a long line forming, indicating that business is exceptionally good.
Looks like they’ve made it big thanks to Jordan Jacobs, and Yvonne’s entire family is prospering because of him.
Iris lets out a cold laugh. Just as she is about to leave, a shout comes from inside the tea shop—"Stop right there!"
Everyone in the line freezes and then gathers around to watch the drama unfold.
Turning her head, Iris sees Yvonne stepping out, momentarily stunned to see her, "Why are you here?"
She... how can she act as if nothing’s wrong? Yvonne’s mind is in turmoil. She contacted Dane Rivers to drug Iris yesterday, no way it didn’t work, right?
It shouldn’t be possible. She heard Iris was drugged yesterday; the entire booth was checked, how could she come out unscathed?
Yvonne was just waiting to get the incriminating photos from the reporters to expose Iris online; she spent all night grinning. And yet... Iris shows up now?
Yvonne is full of doubt but can’t let it show, so she grabs Iris, "Where were you last night?"
Iris finds it funny, "Are you crazy? What I do is none of your business!"
Yvonne is rendered speechless by Iris, with everyone watching; she can’t let herself be embarrassed, and she clenches her fists, her gaze turns vicious, "Weren’t you out drinking?"
Trying to dig for information?
Iris and Peach finally stopped, but neither gave her a direct look, "You’re amusing, knowing I went drinking, what is it, do you have a crush on me?"
Yvonne immediately becomes furious, if not for the people watching, she’d have slapped Iris without hesitation, "I could guess you were drinking, women like you, who climb the ranks with your body, need to frequent such places, right?"
Iris burst into laughter!
Peach didn’t hold back, "Could you show some self-respect as a mistress? Being with Jordan Jacobs these years, haven’t you forgotten your roots at Heaven on Earth?"
Yvonne’s face turns white at those words!
Heaven on Earth was where she worked as a hostess; it was through there that she met Jordan Jacobs, leading her entire family to rise in status. She thought she successfully hid this dark past, but unexpectedly these two discovered it!
"What’s Heaven on Earth?"
"I don’t know, but don’t you think the people at this tea shop look familiar?"
"Is it the behind-the-scenes proprietor? Did she work at Heaven on Earth?"
Everyone is watching, and Yvonne has to suppress her urge to act, "I don’t understand what you’re talking about, stop slandering me! Spending the night with a man yesterday, don’t think I’m unaware!"
Trying to fish for details from Iris’s mouth about last night, questioning why her plan failed.
But Iris feigns a laugh, mocking, "Oh yes, I spent the night with President Wyatt. He’s so fierce, an absolute powerhouse among men, kept asking if I wanted more, didn’t sleep a wink all night, and even transferred me a billion in the morning!"
A billion!
Yvonne envies so much she feels a toothache. Being Jordan Jacobs’s mistress for so long, she’s never seen such money, yet this shameless woman seems proud to announce it!
Peach laughs deliberately wide.
Lachlan Wyatt, from miles away, sneezes repeatedly.
"You shouldn’t settle for being Jordan Jacobs’s mistress. Look, no marriage, just settling with relatives opening tea shops. So petty. You might as well stick with President Wyatt; at least you could command a good price."
Recognizing Iris’s deliberate mockery, Yvonne can’t take it anymore and reaches for Iris’s hair, "I haven’t settled accounts for wrecking my wedding, and you show up to rub salt in the wound, I’ll tear your mouth apart!"
Heaven knows Iris’s words are infuriating, even at the wedding. Not knowing what went wrong, resulting in no footage of Iris being drugged and leaving the hotel with a man, Yvonne can’t swallow this, how could she let it go?
Incensed by Iris, Yvonne lunges at her. Peach instinctively dodges, causing Yvonne to fall right in front of Iris.
Before she can touch her, her hand is gripped tightly. Following that, a sharp glint flashes in Iris’s eyes as she raises Yvonne’s hand high and twists it harshly, causing Yvonne to scream out!
"Ah!"
Yvonne breaks into a cold sweat, "Let me go!"
"Should I let you go?"
Iris laughs, "Beg me, you bitch."
Whoa!
The onlookers are stunned.
To hear "bitch" from the mouth of such a stunning woman!
A nearby boy in a puppy-like posture says, "Why do I feel so good hearing her insult people..."
"You’re a masochist, aren’t you..."
"Want her to call me a bitch while stepping on me in heels..."
Yvonne’s eyes turn red with rage, how is this woman constantly opposing her, must she be Iris’s close friend, avenging the deceased Iris?
She should’ve killed her along with Iris back then!
Iris and those close to her must die!
Yvonne’s mouth filled with hatred, as though she wanted to cut the woman in front of her into pieces, "Stop pretending, let me go, I’ll call Jordan Jacobs—so smug because he’s not here!"
Who initiated the fight anyway?
Pressed against the wall, Yvonne is held by Iris, who effortlessly controls her, "Can’t beat me, can’t outcurse me, you’re just a worthless mistress, lacking any real fight. Maybe it’s time to give up and stop harming future generations."
"I’m not a mistress!"
Yvonne is hit right where it hurts and screams, "That fat Iris was the mistress back then! Jacobs always loved me; if not for his family, he would have married me by now. The dead fat woman was the mistress, using her wealthy brother to get an engagement, forcing Jacobs to marry her!"
Yvonne’s voice is tragic, as if Iris is the one unforgivable.
"She ruined my love! She deserved to die! That fat woman kept trying to steal my man! She’s dead now, no matter how you fight for her, she’s dead!"
Like a knife stabbing into Iris’s heart, her entire demeanor darkens, her eyes turn cold as killing blades reflecting a chilling glare, even shocking Peach.
Iris’s voice is so fierce, so cold, like death raising a scythe to harvest heads, blood-stained as it wraps around Yvonne’s neck, "In your midnight dreams, don’t you fear she hasn’t died and will come to avenge you?"
