Thousands of Brilliant Stars: You Deserve the Best!
Chapter 34: I’m a Virgin, I Won’t Touch You!
CHAPTER 34: CHAPTER 34: I’M A VIRGIN, I WON’T TOUCH YOU!
Iris Crawford was in such a hurry to leave home naturally to retrieve her leave note. She wasn’t actually hurt that badly—to her credit, she had taken the medicine prescribed by Peach and hung an IV drip for an hour, and she was almost fully recovered. The rest was just for Jordan Jacobs and Yvonne Jennings to see.
The slap Jordan Jacobs delivered in the street shattered all her foolish softness. How could the current Iris Crawford make the same mistake again?
However, she still needed to go back to the hospital to complete the discharge procedures.
Thinking about not having to work for a week, Iris Crawford beamed with happiness. There was no hint of the aggrieved look of a resentful woman abandoned by a jerk ex-husband as she hummed a tune while driving. It was at this moment she received a call from Lachlan Wyatt.
Upon answering, Lachlan Wyatt’s pleasant voice came through, though not in a good mood, "Which car did you drive off with?"
"You said last time I could choose whichever I wanted."
Iris glanced at the steering wheel, "The LaFerrari."
"..." Lachlan Wyatt was momentarily amused by his irritation. You sure know how to pick.
Not only did she take a Ferrari, but she took the LaFerrari!
The Ferrari LaFerrari is the pinnacle of supercars. Ordinary Ferraris simply can’t compare. Not to mention it’s limited globally; it’s said that even purchasing one has criteria to meet. Not only must one be a VIP customer of Ferrari, but it seems one must own several different series of Ferraris to qualify to buy a LaFerrari.
Such criteria are the cream of the crop, yet Iris Crawford just drove off with it.
Lachlan Wyatt chuckled under his breath, "You have the guts to choose, you better have the skills to drive it."
Not many people in this world can handle a LaFerrari.
That night, people at the roadside food stalls all saw a flash of dazzling red speeding past on the road. The bright red belonging to Ferrari and its roaring engine pierced through the tranquil night. Some curious folks tried to catch a glimpse of the female driver’s face, catching only a vague half profile.
Iris Crawford sped along in the LaFerrari, red nails gripping the black steering wheel. With her other hand, she ruffled her hair, letting it flutter in the air.
She parked the car in the parking lot and went upstairs to the hospital’s inpatient department.
Back in her ward, just as she was about to pack her luggage and handle the discharge paperwork, she heard footsteps approaching from outside.
Iris frowned, instinctively turned around, and saw a tall figure standing at the door.
Seeing this young, fair face, Iris said in surprise, "Dane Rivers?"
Dane Rivers stood at the door, and as he entered, he locked the VIP ward door. He said, "Coming to handle discharge procedures in a sports car, that’s quite something."
This woman’s way of doing things is downright self-centered, even more uninhibited than a guy!
"None of your damn business."
As a result, Iris rudely said, "I could drive a bulldozer here if I wanted."
Dane Rivers was momentarily at a loss for words, pushed back by Iris’s retort. He could only change the subject, "Are you really planning to leave the hospital?"
"You’re kind of weird."
Iris finally finished packing her things, placed them on the hospital bed, and then stepped forward, giving Dane Rivers a once-over, "What does it have to do with you? Coming to see me so late at night, up to no good, huh?"
Indeed, he was up to no good.
Dane Rivers, unable to keep his emotions in check, was young, with a face that couldn’t hide any of his emotions. Every secret was written on his face.
Seeing Iris’s intention to leave, he reached out to stop her, "Didn’t they say you still have bandages on your head? Where’s the bandage?"
"Are you nuts?" Iris bumped into Dane Rivers, "Bandages? The bandage is in the trash. You can go fetch it yourself."
"You!"
Dane Rivers taken aback, clenched his teeth and said, "Can’t you be a little nicer to me!"
"Do you pay me to be nice to you?"
Iris thought Dane Rivers wasn’t inherently bad, just a bit empty-headed, pampered by his family, and just turned legally adult. He was really too arrogant, with a rotten personality, and would suffer big losses if no one set him straight.
But she wasn’t obliged to teach anyone, so she said, "Get lost. I think you’re the one who’s crazy. Rich people don’t go book a room at night and come messing around in my hospital room?"
Dane Rivers’ fair face flushed, "I have something to ask you!"
Iris chuckled, finally stopping in her tracks, glancing at him sideways, "What is it? Here to confess your love?"
"You shameless woman!"
"I am."
"..."
Dane Rivers suddenly felt at a loss against Iris. He had encountered shameless women before, those who sold their bodies, but never had he seen one like Iris.
After holding it in for a long time, Dane Rivers gripped Iris’s shoulder, taking a deep breath as if struggling to hold back some emotion. He finally blurted out, "I came to ask you something, you, you..."
"I, I?"
Standing so close to him, Iris seemed not the least bit nervous, while Dane Rivers started to stammer.
The young man in front bit his teeth and decided to go all out, "That is, do you have a birthmark on your body! On your thigh area!"
Iris was taken aback, "Huh?"
Dane Rivers continued, "Let me see! I’ll take a photo!"
Slap!!!!
The quiet inpatient department of the hospital was nearly shaken by the resounding slap sound that echoed throughout the entire building.
In the ward, Iris blew on her palm, saying, "You little brat, are you asking for a beating? Do you hear yourself?"
Dane Rivers held his face, his delicate handsome face reddened on one side, he looked extremely aggrieved, with tears pooled in his eyes but refusing to back down, he said, "Someone said you’re Iris Crawford! They told me to find a way to knock you out and secretly take a photo to compare! I wouldn’t stoop to such despicable acts, so I came to confront you face to face!"
"So I should thank you then!" Iris laughed in anger by Dane Rivers, this kid at 19 really hadn’t tasted the harshness of society, how could he ask such a question in front of a woman, she said, "Haven’t you done enough despicable things, coming here to act high and mighty!"
"Do you know I’m still a virgin!" Dane Rivers, incensed by Iris, fumbled with words but still tried to argue, "Don’t look at me hanging out with Lachlan Wyatt and them, but I’ve seen enough of women like you, I’m fed up with it, I don’t mix with women like you! Touching you guys, I’m the one who feels dirty!"
"Haha, yes, I’ll give you an award." Iris made a motion as if crowning him, "I wish you to stay a virgin for life!"
"..." Is that a blessing or a curse?
Unable to keep face, Dane Rivers held Iris’s shoulder, not letting her run, "Anyway, you need to tell me who you are."
Iris grinned mischievously, her fox-like eyes full of charm, she cheekily said, "I’m your father."
Dane Rivers nearly had his hair standing on end from Iris, he leaned in, seemingly wanting to scrutinize Iris’s features, such an unworldly woman, could she possibly be Iris Crawford?
He recalled Orion Crawford’s sister was famously timid, dumb as a pig, saint-like. Everyone only gave her face because she was The Crawford Family’s daughter, otherwise they thought her meddling was a joke.
However, now...
Dane Rivers gazed at Iris with such seriousness, making her a bit uncomfortable under his scrutiny, the woman tsked, "What are you looking at?"
Dane Rivers reached out and pinched Iris’s nose.
Iris Crawford forcefully slapped his hand away, "You’re crazy."
"I’m just checking if you’ve had plastic surgery." Dane Rivers pinched her nose, realizing it was real, "Your temperament is nothing like your brother Orion Crawford’s sister."
Iris was expressionless, "You’re so annoying, can you move aside?"
"Tell me, do you have a birthmark on your thigh?"
Dane was getting anxious; he came secretly tonight to confirm this, but Iris’s attitude made it impossible to proceed, "I’ve already let you slap me; it wouldn’t be right not to tell me the truth!"
"You deserved the slap." Iris sneered, "Didn’t your elders teach you how to respect people?"
"You ungrateful woman!"
Dane was infuriated, "If I knew this would happen, I should’ve knocked you out and taken photos! I felt those methods were despicable, so I didn’t use them on you!"
"But didn’t you almost drug me back then?"
Iris’s eyes flashed with pressure, and seeing Dane’s suddenly changed expression, she laughed, "You don’t really think I don’t know, do you?"
Dane felt his palms sweating, "Why would you..." Didn’t everyone think it was Crystal Rhodes?
"Checked the surveillance footage."
Iris shrugged effortlessly, "No one would go out of their way to check your whereabouts, but I did."
So she actually knew all along about his intentions to harm her.
Standing here talking to him for so long...
Dane was in a difficult position and simply admitted, "Yes! It was me, so what! At the time, I did have those thoughts, but don’t get me wrong. Even though I was planning it, I ultimately didn’t do it; that drugging thing with Crystal Rhodes had nothing to do with me!"
Iris crossed her arms over her chest, "You didn’t do it because you didn’t find the chance. Subjectively, you wanted to frame me, so why distance yourself from it? So this time, was it Yvonne Jennings who sent you to test me?"
Dane was caught off guard by how clever Iris was, revealing all the truths along with his little schemes at the time.
Facing no escape, he clenched his lips and eventually loosened his clenched fist, "Yes, that’s right."
"You’re not very smart." Iris teased, "Others use you to do bad things, and you turn around and sell them out to me. You’re a pig teammate; Yvonne Jennings would be livid knowing this."
"I just hate being used as a pawn."
Dane’s eyes widened, Iris was truly broad-minded. He had told her someone was plotting against her, yet she was teaching him how to do bad things?
"Don’t think my willingness to talk to you means I have no issues with you." Dane could only say this, "Anyway, I don’t like you, but that woman Yvonne Jennings also gives me a scheming feeling."
"Pff." Iris laughed, "As if I care whether you have issues with me or not."
Dane really didn’t know how to handle Iris, she was neither soft nor hard, impervious to persuasion. He could only block her, "Then tell me, are you Iris Crawford?"
"That would be me."
Iris answered without blinking, "Got it? If so, get out of the way, don’t block me from leaving the hospital for vacation—" A real thanks to Jordan Jacobs for sending five million and a week’s vacation!
Dane gasped, pulling Iris again, "So you’re... you... you really are Orion Crawford’s sister!"
For some reason, seeing Iris’s defiant attitude made Dane instinctively believe her words. She had no reason to lie; there wouldn’t be any benefit.
"Told you ages ago." Iris curled her lips, feeling bored, Dane’s surprise only showed his limited experience.
Well, at 19, he was still a pampered child of a wealthy family, how much could he understand about right and wrong?
Dane suddenly became interested in Iris, "Then how did you not die back then? I heard your best friend slapped Jordan Jacobs at your funeral, did you see that scene?"
"I saw it; she’s too kind-hearted!"
Iris gave a thumbs up, "Should’ve run him over with the car."
"..."
Dane pulled Iris to a corner of the hospital room, carefully examining her face under the moonlight. At this moment, the woman’s visage was coldly enchanting under the moonlight, her eyes mischievous, like she could always find a way out no matter what situation arose.
She was so beautiful, yet so difficult to tame, totally disconnected from how she was two years ago.
Dane took a deep breath, "Those who know your identity..."
Iris leaned forward, placing her hand on her lips, looking up at Dane from below, whispered, "Not many people know, Young Master Rivers, you’re one of them..."
She was so close that Dane instinctively swallowed.
"You... you woman..." Dane really didn’t know how to address Iris, after a while, he chose to call her by name, "Iris Crawford, so you’re back after two years to break up Yvonne Jennings and Jordan Jacobs?"
"Hmm?" Hearing Dane suddenly call her by name, Iris smiled, then pulled her hair behind her head, blowing the remaining bangs up with a sideways puff, "Break up? Haha, it’s just blood for blood."
The tone seemed light-hearted, she habitually spoke everything casually, but Dane heard the grinding hatred behind the voice.
Yvonne said she was the third party, but then why was she the one carrying hatred?
"Two years ago you broke up Yvonne Jennings and Jordan Jacobs’s love, you’re a homewrecker."
Dane frowned, unable to comprehend Iris’s attitude, "That’s why Yvonne asked me to help her against you."
"Good to tell me all this." Iris reached out to tease Dane’s chin, "You don’t speak, you’re kind of cute, too bad you didn’t grow a brain."
Dane was livid, "Who are you calling brainless?"
"If Jordan Jacobs married Yvonne Jennings yet was hung up on me, then I’d be the homewrecker. I was Jordan Jacobs’s wife at the time, clearly whoever was outside the marriage was the third party." Iris sharply retorted, "How could you think I was the third party?"
"I..." Dane stammered.
Yeah, two years ago Iris was Jordan Jacobs’s wife, she was so surprisingly overweight that everyone in the circle knew and laughed at Jordan Jacobs.
"So you’re implying you’re a good person?"
Dane barely held on, desperate to make himself look less disgraceful. He remembered earlier calling Iris a shameless woman, saying she was selling herself, calling her filthy, but now, she was actually Orion Crawford’s sister, and Jordan Jacobs’s ex-wife.
He previously helped Yvonne scold Iris, and now it had turned on its head.
Dane started to stutter, "So I... I misunderstood you? It’s all your fault for not saying earlier!"
"Ah, men, it’s so hard for them to admit they’re wrong." Iris patted Dane’s cheek, "You heard rumors and came to attack me, now you’re blaming me? Did I beg you to insult me? But yeah, you spectators are just looking for amusement, no way you’d ever admit fault, would you?"
With a sarcastic tone, Dane’s face turned pale; he was wrong, gravely wrong.
Iris packed her clothes neatly into the bag, slinging it on her shoulder, she flipped her shoulder and waved at Dane, "I’m leaving."
"Wait!"
Dane maybe realized he crossed the line, but only a little, he said, "Then... since you said all this, do you want me to relay a message to Yvonne Jennings? Save you from speaking cryptically towards me, consider it my helping hand."
He’s already lowered himself like this, if Iris had any sense, she should give him some face! Not to mention, he’s willing to help her now, isn’t the meaning clear enough? He’s Young Master Rivers, willing to actively assist a woman, it’s quite a big favor for Iris!
Yet Iris chuckled and glanced back at Dane, "No need, you’re too dumb, step aside."
