Three Treasures: Spoiled Wife Goes Wild
Chapter 1571: That Child
CHAPTER 1571: CHAPTER 1571: THAT CHILD
"I was working overtime yesterday, so the office is a bit messy, and I haven’t had time to tidy it up."
After entering the office, Vincent gave an embarrassed smile.
Then he walked to the desk, picked up the stack of documents in the middle of the table, briefly flipped through it, and handed it to Charlotte Thompson.
"Grace is really lucky; the heart they found is a perfect match." Vincent leaned against the desk, using his hands to support himself.
Upon hearing this, Charlotte’s eyes lit up, and she didn’t even take time to carefully sift through the files in her hand.
"Really?!"
At that moment, Charlotte’s voice was uncontrollably higher by a few notches.
Perhaps Vincent had never seen Charlotte show such an excited expression, for he chuckled lightly before speaking:
"Of course, would I lie to you? All the test reports show that Grace and the heart donor have a match rate of over eighty percent."
"That’s great, truly great."
Charlotte tightened her grip subconsciously, lowered her gaze, and couldn’t hide the smile showing beside Grace Thompson.
"Mommy, does this mean Grace’s sickness can be cured?" Grace processed what Vincent had just said and tightened her grip on Charlotte’s hand.
Charlotte nodded heavily, then reached out to lift Grace up.
"Yes, Grace’s illness can be cured soon, and Grace will be able to play like other children again."
Suddenly, Charlotte felt that the weight pressing on her heart had lightened considerably, but she knew that now was not yet the time for real celebration.
She tried to calm her emotions, but her tone still inevitably revealed excitement and urgency.
"When can Grace undergo the surgery?"
Yet, when faced with Charlotte’s query, Vincent hesitated for a moment, then slowly said, "That’s a bit uncertain."
"Uncertain?" Charlotte was puzzled by Vincent’s response, "But haven’t we already found a matching heart donor?"
After a moment’s hesitation, Vincent realized and looked towards Charlotte: "Sorry, it was my oversight. I don’t think I mentioned before that the matching heart donor was identified after a patient signed an organ donation agreement."
"You mean..." Charlotte was momentarily stunned.
"That child has a very rare disease, and the doctors estimate he might only have a month to live, so his parents decided to sign the organ donation agreement. Unexpectedly, the heart is a match for Grace."
Vincent’s words gradually made Charlotte’s expression turn serious.
Thinking that the heart is still beating inside another child’s chest, Charlotte felt a complex mix of emotions.
However, Grace couldn’t understand what Charlotte and Vincent were discussing. She hugged Charlotte’s neck and tilted her head slightly to ask softly:
"Mommy, what are you talking about? Who’s sick? Is it someone with the same illness as Grace, who also needs a heart transplant?"
Feeling Grace’s inquiry, Charlotte opened her mouth but didn’t know how to respond suitably for a moment.
Finally, after a moment of hesitation, Charlotte turned to Vincent and asked, "Can I meet the child?"
