CHAPTER 1594: CHAPTER 1594: CATCHING THE ADULTERER
As Riley had just mentioned that Charlotte Thompson met a young man, a face immediately flashed in Justin Battleson’s mind.
Suppressing the turmoil in his heart, Justin couldn’t help but urge Michael Richard as they headed to the hotel Charlotte had mentioned before.
During this time, Justin tried reaching out to Charlotte again, but received no response.
By the time Justin arrived at the hotel, his expression had reached an extreme level of gloom.
Riley had been standing in the hotel lobby all along, with a peculiar look on her face as if deep in thought. When she looked up and saw Justin, a gleam of surprise and delight flashed in her eyes.
Without hesitation, Riley stood up and walked toward Justin.
"Mr. Battleson, you’re finally here!"
Perhaps too excited, a flush of color appeared on Riley’s fair face, but Justin ignored her appearance and simply glanced around the hotel.
Then, Justin finally focused his gaze on Riley’s face, his dark eyes seemingly filled with a storm, making Riley’s heart skip a beat when she met his gaze.
Riley parted her lips, trying to say something, but Justin spoke first: "Where did you see them?"
Justin’s voice was scrutinizing and severe, sending a chill up Riley’s spine.
"I was staying on the third floor. I saw Miss Charlotte and that man talking at the end of the hallway, and then they left, seemingly entering a room..."
Riley shrank her shoulders, seemingly intimidated by Justin’s expression, making her voice sound somewhat shaky.
Justin reluctantly withdrew his gaze from Riley’s face and unhesitatingly headed towards the third floor.
"Mr. Battleson, I’ll show you the way!"
Riley immediately followed beside Justin, cautiously observing his expression. Uncertain if she was genuinely concerned or deliberately stirring the pot, she added:
"Although I was a bit far away, I saw that person holding Miss Charlotte’s hand. Miss Charlotte must be friends with that guy, she didn’t seem to refu—"
"Shut up."
Justin impatiently snapped, and Riley obediently closed her mouth, though a trace of unwillingness flickered in her eyes.
Justin, being tall with long legs, moved swiftly, forcing Riley to almost jog to barely keep up with his pace. By the time they reached the third floor, Riley was panting heavily.
"Mr. Battleson, it’s there."
Riley pointed to a room at the end of the corridor. As they approached, they found the door was not completely closed.
When Justin pushed the door open, he did hear some faint noises inside, which worsened his already grim expression.
Yet, surprisingly, the person in the room wasn’t Charlotte, but rather housekeeping staff from the hotel.
Seemingly having just finished cleaning, the room was spotless, with the fragrance of sandalwood lingering in the air.
Upon seeing Justin burst in, a flicker of astonishment crossed the housekeeper’s face, but she quickly regained her composure and asked dutifully, "Sir, are you here to check-in? Please wait a moment, the room will be ready shortly."
"No, we’re looking for someone. Could you tell us if you saw who left this room?" Riley chimed in at that moment to inquire.
"Ah, it was a young couple."
