bChapter 212 /b

Ste just nodded, not knowing what else to say.

As they walked in, Jordan held Ste’s hand. With only the two of them left, everyone turned to look at them.

Jordan waited until Ste sat down before heading to his own seat.

The teacher cleared his throat, drawing everyone’s attention back to him, and picked up where he left off.

Kevin wanted to ask Ste about it, but with ss going on, it wasn’t really the right moment.

Le kept watching Ste and couldn’t help but notice that her lips looked a little swollen. Le seemed deep in thought.

Just as Ste was really focused on the lesson, Le’s hot water cup suddenly tipped over, spilling all over Ste and burning herb. /b

“Ste?” he eximed and rushed over.

Ste was wearing long pants. She still couldn’t wear skirts because of her condition. She had no clue how her thigh looked underneath.

Without hesitation, Jordan picked her up in his arms, called out to the teacher, and hurried out with her.

    Everyone stared at Le.

Le looked like she was about to explode with rage as she watched the whole scene y out.

Jordan carried Ste to a nearby clinic. When they rolled up her pant leg, her skin was covered in blisters.

Jordan was a nervous wreck, but the doctor reassured him, “It’s just blisters. Nothing serious. Just apply some ointment and you’ll be fine.”

The doctor nced at Ste’s leg. “Why not switch to long skirts for a while?”

    “Thanks, doc,” Ste said.

The doctor headed off to take care of other patients.

Ste’s legs were still pretty skinny. Even though she’d put on a little flesh, they were still much thinner than most people.

During her time back, her legs had be noticeably sexier. But seeing those blisters on her skin, Jordan couldn’t help but feel a stab of

    pain in his heart.

Ste nudged him. “Come on, go back. I’m not some delicate flower, really, I’m fine.”

“Leave you here all by yourself?” Jordan asked.

“I’ll be okay. Once the ointment kicks in, I’ll head back myself,” Ste said.

“You sure you can walk?” Jordan asked.”

“Why wouldn’t I? Back when things were way tougher, I still managed to walk. This is just a little pain, I can totally handle it,” Ste replied.

“That was when you didn’t have me. Now that I’m here, don’t try to shut me out,” Jordan said.

    “But what about–” Ste asked.

“Seriously, don’t worry. It was just an ident; everyone will understand,” Jordan reassured her.

    Ste nodded.

“Did Le do that on purpose?” Jordan asked.

Ste reyed the scene in her mind. She hadn’t noticed what Le was up to at the time, but now that she thought about bit/bb, /bit really bdid /bseem intentional.

Ste nced at Jordan, noticing how dark his expression had be. “What are you nning to do to her?” she asked, a little worried.

“She bullied you, so I’m going to make sure she knows exactly how that feels,” Jordan said, his voice tight with anger.

“You can’t. She’s the mayor’s daughter. It’s one thing to upset her, but you can’t go against the mayor’s familyi,/ii” /iSte said urgently.

“So what? Am I supposed to just stand by and let my wife be bullied by anyone?” Jordan snapped, his temper ring

Ste was genuinely worried. Even though she’d suffered, she knew Jordan still had to rely on the mayor, so he really couldn’t risk doing anything reckless.

“Ste, I know you’d rather suffer in silence than see me get into trouble, but you’re my wife. I won’t allow Le to walk all over you. Don’t worry. I know where to draw the line,” Jordan said, his tone softening a bit.

Ste didn’t know what to say.

Once the ointment had soaked in, Jordan went to the restroom. Ste tried to get off the bed and walk a bit on her own, but her leg hurt like hell the moment she put weight on it.

Right then, Jordan came out, rushed over, and swept her into his arms, carrying her out. “Didn’t I tell you to wait for me?” he said.

Ste made a face. “Sorry, I just didn’t want to trouble you.”

“You’re never trouble for me. You’re my good luck,” Jordan replied.

Ste stared at him, stunned. Jordan gave her a knowing smile,

“I know I ignored you those days and left you feeling uncertain, but it really wasn’t your fault; it was mine. Ste, I swear, I won’t ever let that happen again,” Jordan said.

Ste nodded, trusting him without a doubt this time, and gently leaned her head against his shoulder. They exchanged nces, grinning at

    each other.

There was still a training ss that afternoon. Jordan took Ste out for lunch, picked out a long dress for her, and in the afternoon, showed up carrying her in his arms.

Jordan moved his seat over to where Le was and sat down right next to Ste.

Le stared at him, totally stunned. “Wait? You’re taking my seat?”

“Why not? I’m just here to look after my wife/Got a problem with that?” Jordan shot back.

Le just stood there, but honestly, she’d known from the start that Ste was Jordan’s girl. But Le couldn’t bring herself to believe bthat /bJordan had already married Ste.

“Are you ming me for what I did to her this morning?” Le asked.

    b13 /b

    Hi, bAug /b

b“/bYou know what you did,” Jordan replied coolly.

Le didn’t look the least bit guilty. Instead, she insisted, “It wasn’t on purpose. This is my seat. You can’t just take it whenever byou /bbwant /b

“I’m sitting right here. You go and sit over there.” Jordan sat there, pletely unmoved.

Le was practically seething. “Jordan, no one’s ever treated me like this before.”

“Guess I’m the first,” Jordan said, meeting her gaze without flinching.

And for some reason, that just made him seem even more annoyingly irresistible to Le.

Everyone else bent over backwards to please her just because she was the mayor’s daughter. They put up with all her drama and mood swings, no matter how much of a pain she was.

But Jordan was the only one who refused to y along.

Le shot Ste a look. She had no idea how things had gotten to this point, but with the way Ste was, Le was convinced their rtionship wouldn’tst long.

Le had plenty of time to y this game; she’d just wait and see.

Le just snatched up her things and went straight to the seat Jordan used to sit in.

Jordan shot Ste a ilook/i, and the two of them were still grinning at each other.

When the teacher came in that afternoon, he just nced at their new seats, didn’t say a word, and went right on with the lesson.

There was only one ss that afternoon, so there were just three sses the whole day.

When ss ended, Jordan went straight to pick Ste up, totally ignoring the crowd.

Ste nudged him, trying to stop him. “Come on, inot /ihere, Everyone’s staring.”

Jordan just grinned, “So what? It’s not like people don’t know we’re a thing.”

Kevin shot Jordan a look. “Good thing you stepped in when you did, or I would’ve knocked you t.”

“Like I’d ever give you the chance,” Jordan shot backi, /isounding cocky.

Kevin tried to convince Ste, “Just let him carry you, okay? I asked Jordan when I was out. Your leg’s got a bunch of blisters. Seriously, don’t try to walk on your own for now.”

Ste just sighed, at a loss for words. Ste had been hoping Kevin would say something nice to Jordan, but clearly, that was just wishful thinking.
