CHAPTER 61: BRAIN DEATH

Jin hated searching people’s minds with a passion. Everything was cluttered; he had to search through years of memories, and it left him with a large headache afterwards.

He dug deep through the man’s mind, searching for any information about Project Omega, but he couldn’t find anything that he didn’t already know. So, Jin switched tactics. He looked for information related to the special event that was taking place next week.

This time, Jin was able to get some good information. He learned that there would be a rally happening next week at a secret location, and by secret, it meant that they would be in a secret room in the sewers.

Pretty gross, but also pretty...well...secret.

While the guy didn’t know what the event would be about, he knew that it was related to their cause, and like-minded individuals would be attending via an invitation.

’What is this invitation?’ Jin dug deeper, not caring about the man’s mind, and searched until he found the invitation. It was a ring, a basic one, but with a design on it. The design was the sign for infinity.

’Now, where is the location where they will meet up? I already know the event is in the sewers, but where will they enter the sewers from?’

Once more, Jin searched the man’s mind, continuing to harm it in the process. Once he was finally able to find the location, he left the man’s mind and opened his eyes.

The man was completely brain-dead after Jin forced his way through his mind. What Jin did to him wasn’t the typical mind-reading, but mental domination. He forced his will upon the man’s own, ripping through his mind to get the information he wanted.

Jin reached inside the man’s pocket, grabbed the ring he saw from the memories, and placed it in his own. Now that he had no use for the man, he burned his body to a crisp and watched his ashes fly with the wind.

"Thanks for the information, chump." He took off back to his home.

"Jin, you’re back." Angela welcomed him back home. "Did you and Addison accomplish what you wanted?"

"Yeah. The speaker guy was at the restaurant today, but he didn’t say anything that I could use to piece together what Project Omega is. Fortunately, he did mention a special event happening next week, and after a little bit of digging, I learned where it’s going to be happening."

"By digging, do you mean you read the guy’s mind?"

"Nah. I didn’t go after him. I went after the guy he was talking to. It was safer and wouldn’t draw any attention to me. I read his mind, which ended up making him go brain-dead."

"That’s pretty neat. So, what’s this special event?" As she asked that question, Angela led Jin to the dining room where she had already gotten lunch. She opened the box of pizza, put some slices on a plate for Jin, then poured him some soda.

She didn’t have to do that for him, but she liked it, and Jin didn’t mind, so he wasn’t planning on stopping her.

He smiled. "Thanks."

"Yup."

"So, while I don’t know what this event will be about, there will apparently be a lot of like-minded individuals attending this event. It’s in a secret location in the sewers, and you can only attend if you have one of these." Jin tossed the ring on the table.

Angela’s eyes widened, and she leaped out of her seat. Excitement formed on her face, and she hugged Jin, pressing his face against her boobs and cheering in his ear. "Yes, yes, yes! Yes, I’ll marry you, but shouldn’t I be the one asking you this?"

"Seriously, Angela?"

"What? A woman can dream. Jin Silverstone. That has a nice ring to it. You wanna be my husband?" She poked his cheek.

"You wanna be my wife?"

"Duh, stupid, I thought that was obvious."

A smile crept on his face as Angela kept poking his cheek. Times like these are the reason why he didn’t wish to live the life of constant action. He liked the nice, chill, and relaxed moments life had to offer.

"You might have competition, though. I don’t think Addison or Brittany would accept you as my wife."

"Pfft, fuck them. Addison can eat some pussy. Brittany, though, might actually be a worthy opponent."

"Haha, true. Anyway, let’s get back to this ring. You see this infinity symbol on it?"

"Mhmm."

"That’s the invitation. The location is in Solara City, located on Solara Prime Street. There’s a secret entrance to the sewers somewhere around there. The guy’s mind was already cracking by the time I got to that part."

"Let me go to this event."

Jin spat out his drink, laughing at Angela’s suggestion. He leaned back in his chair, holding his belly as his laughter made it tighten up.

"Why are you laughing?" Angela didn’t find anything funny and wondered why Jin suddenly decided to spit soda on the table.

"What? You were being serious? I thought you were joking. No way I’m letting you go to that event. Do you even know what to look or listen for? Do you know how to be stealthy?"

"All I gotta do is dress up, blend in, and make sure no one knows who I am, right? I don’t see how it’s that big of a deal."

"On paper, you’re correct, but in practice, not so much. Tell you what, you can join me." Jin grabbed the ring, scanned it with his power kit, then made a perfect copy out of nanotech.

When he handed her the ring, Angela wrapped her arms around Jin, picked him up, and planted multiple kisses on his lips.

"Yes, yes, I’ll marry you!"

"Stop kissing me."

"Nope."

"Put me down."

"Nope."

"Where’s Addison?" Jin just now noticed that he didn’t see or sense Addison at all when he arrived.

"Her mom called, so she went home for a bit. She should be back home later, though. Oh yeah, that laptop you took was beeping earlier. What’s up with that?"

"Oh shit!"
