CHAPTER 63: THE RALLY

"So, how did things go with Mrs Horton? Was she mad that you didn’t come to her sooner about the laptop?" Angela and Jin had a bet about how Mrs Horton would react.

Angela said that Mrs Horton would punish Jin, while he said that she would tell him to come to her sooner about the information he had, but wouldn’t punish him.

"You know, it’s kind of hard to say. I wasn’t punished, but she was slightly upset. I guess we both won."

"Hmm. Whatever. The bet was stupid anyway. So, when are we leaving for the secret event? I already picked out my dress and your suit."

"Angie, the event is tonight. We’ll leave in the evening. It’s morning still."

Angela groaned, walked over to the couch, and put something on the TV to watch. Cycling through channels, she saw that nothing interesting was on, so she booted up her console and started playing some games.

"What do you plan on doing in the meantime? You can play games with me if you want."

Jin shook his head. "I have a better idea. I’m going to see where the Speaker went."

"Whoa! Did you play a tracker on the guy or something?"

"Somewhat. My mana touched his body, marking him. Now I will know where he is at all times. And the best thing about this is that no one knows how to use magic, so he wont be able to destroy my mana that’s on his body."

Jin focused his senses on detecting his mana. Since his mana was always a part of him, it didn’t matter where in the world they were; Jin would be able to sense them.

He followed the trail his mana had gone, mentally weaving through the streets and buildings. Once he reached a certain distance, his mana trail just vanished.

"The fuck?!"

"Oof, I’m guessing that’s not a good sign." Angela teased

"My mana trail, it’s gone."

Angela didn’t know too much about magic, but what she did know was that no matter how powerful a woman is or no matter how advanced technology is, they couldn’t get rid of the traces of mana left behind when applied to something.

She knows this because she tested this out with Jin years prior.

"How is that possible? I remember you telling me that only other magic users can erase traces of magic."

Jin confirmed what she knew. "Correct. No one in this world should be able to erase the traces of my mana, no matter what. Even if they died, the trace wouldn’t disappear. I’ve been to many worlds and tested this theory plenty of times, so I know what I’m talking about."

Angela also believed Jin when he told her he was from a different world. It also explained how he had abilities despite being a man.

"Was there anything else that could erase a mana trace?" Angela tried to jog his memory because if he thought of something, then he could apply that to this world and use that information to potentially find where the speaker had gone.

"No, not that...fuck! I’m an idiot."

"What? What is it?" Angela was getting anxious now.

"The fucking planet. There are spots in the world where mana is significantly higher than normal. He could have probably entered one of those zones. World mana is stronger than individual mana. I’d have to be at least three levels above my current one to bypass world mana messing with my own. Fuck. I should have thought of that sooner."

"Don’t beat yourself up. You never expected to be in this situation in the first place. Besides, now that you know this, you can find where this ’mana zone’ is, right?"

Jin nodded and connected his senses to the mana of the world. "Well, do you want the good or bad news first?"

"Good."

"I found the mana zone."

"That’s great! Where is it?"

"The entire fucking city."

---

"Are you ready?" Jin asked Angela. A few hours had passed since learning that the entire city was a mana zone, and Jin spent most of the day gathering more strength.

The only reason he was able to track the other guy who spoke to the speaker was that he was close by and acted right away instead of waiting a few days.

"Hell yeah, babe. Let’s do this."

They arrived in Salora City, made their way to Salora Prime Street, and then looked around to see where the secret entrance to the sewers was. They also made sure to wear their rings since that was vital.

"Are you here for the event?" A woman asked, spotting the rings on their fingers.

"Yes, my husband and I received an invitation." Angela acted. She looked different, her hair and eye color being black.

Jin also looked different and had blonde hair instead of his usual black and black eyes instead of his usual blue.

"Who did you lose?" The woman asked.

"My parents!" Jin said angrily, catching on to what the woman was asking right away. "She killed them in my face without any remorse." He started shaking, his fists clenched and his eyes tearing up.

"Hey, baby, it’s okay, I’m here for you. Stay strong." Angela didn’t even know she could be such a good actor. It had her considering a career change, and she thought acting was more up her alley.

"My apologies, my brother and sister. Please, this way." The woman led them to an alley, and when they walked toward it, the entire space around them warped.

’A pocket dimension? Someone has a strong power here.’ Jin thought to himself.

A secret door on the alley wall opened, and another woman led them toward the area where the event was taking place.

"Wow, this place doesn’t even smell bad." Angela accidentally broke character.

"Right! It’s all because of The Speaker. He makes sure everything is perfect and wouldn’t allow us to have an event in a dirty place. He’s so thoughtful. I am honored to serve him!"

Thankfully, Angela’s comment got the woman talking and didn’t lead to suspicion. It was too early to be caught.

"Here we are. Just enter through that door and you’ll be inside the event. Oh, and don’t forget to wear these masks." The woman handed Jin and Angela eye masks and opened the door for them to enter.

"After you, my love." Angela let Jin go first.

"Thank you, my beautiful wife."

When they entered the event area, they were instantly taken aback. There were thousands of people at this event, each of them wearing a mask, and most of them were cheering for the event to start.

"My goddess. That’s a lot of people." Angela said as they walked around to find a good spot. She instinctively held Jin’s hand, curling her fingers between his, and she felt Jin hold her hand tight.

"This is a good spot, I can record everything from here." When they entered the sewer, Jin noticed his tech wasn’t working. The area had some sort of technology dampener, but that didn’t affect his contact lenses from recording.

Addison noticed someone rising out of the stage and elbowed Jin to get his attention. "Baby, look on the stage."

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, BROTHERS AND SISTERS! WELCOME TO THE REVOLUTION RALLY!"

"The Speaker," Jin muttered under his breath.
