Chapter 34: Don’t Make Me Worry Like Before
CHAPTER 34: CHAPTER 34: DON’T MAKE ME WORRY LIKE BEFORE
Recalling that moment, Jin Jumo’s heart felt warm as if it might melt. Having a true friend in life is enough.
Jin Jumo looked earnestly at Jian Liangtong, "Liang Tong, I promised you that I’ll never let you worry again, and I’ll definitely keep my word."
Only then did Jian Liangtong feel at ease, nodding with a pout, "This year you’ve been wound way too tight, it’s good for you to go out and have some fun."
At 6:30 the next morning, Jin Jumo received a call from the driver, saying the car was already at the school gate.
6:30, it really was quite early!
Jin Jumo groggily got out of bed, quickly washed up, changed into a simple black down jacket and jeans, and left the dorm wearing short boots.
Upon exiting the school gate, she saw the familiar Cayenne parked not far away.
Jin Jumo walked briskly forward, nodded to the driver, and, as usual, opened the car door of the passenger seat intending to get in.
"Miss Jin." The driver suddenly spoke.
Jin Jumo was taken aback, staring blankly at the driver.
The driver gave Jin Jumo a knowing smile and looked toward the back seat.
Jin Jumo blinked and followed the driver’s gaze.
Within her sight, a man with finely sculpted features and perfect, resolute facial lines sat silently in the car.
The tailored white shirt paired with a black pinstripe waistcoat made the man appear even more distinguished and smart.
His eyes, dark as ink, looked at her coolly.
Jin Jumo couldn’t hide her surprise; she never expected he would come personally.
"Time is tight, Miss Jin, please get in the car quickly," the driver kindly reminded.
Only then did Jin Jumo regain her composure and hesitated between sitting in the front passenger seat or the back seat, finally resignedly closing the front door and getting into the back seat.
The car was fully heated; as soon as she sat in, a wave of warmth enveloped her, making her relax considerably.
"Mr. Rong, have you been waiting for long?" Jin Jumo asked.
"You were quick," Rong Mochen replied.
Jin Jumo smiled, unsure what else to say.
In the past, their interactions were limited to, well, in bed.
Other than that, they had zero communication.
Awkward moments became much fewer too.
So Jin Jumo never thought one day they would have the chance to interact like this.
"It takes three hours to get to Ju City. Sleep if you’re tired," Rong Mochen said casually.
Hearing this, Jin Jumo immediately yawned for effect, glancing at Rong Mochen, "Haha, then I’ll catch some sleep."
Rong Mochen raised an eyebrow and chuckled softly.
Jin Jumo pretended not to notice, closing her eyes.
Although once she woke up, it took a while for her to fall asleep again, to avoid sitting there awkwardly, she would rather... pretend to sleep.
Three hours later, at the VIP building of the hotel in Ju City.
"President, we’ve arrived," the driver looked back at Rong Mochen respectfully and said.
"Hmm," Rong Mochen nodded, glancing at the local leaders and tourism developers who had been waiting outside the car.
"Should we wake Miss Jin?" The driver hesitated for a moment and asked.
Rong Mochen pursed his lips, his black eyes falling on Jin Jumo asleep against the seat back, "No need."
The driver said nothing more, opened the car door, and got out.
He walked around the front of the car, opening the car door for Rong Mochen and taking the coat resting on the car seat.
Rong Mochen’s expression remained cold and detached, yet his actions held a hint of care as he cradled Jin Jumo in his arms, alighting from the car.
The driver paused momentarily in a daze, and as he came to his senses, he was about to drape the coat over Rong Mochen.
"Cover her with it," Rong Mochen said instead.
The driver was stunned again.
Meanwhile, the local leaders and developers who were getting ready to greet Rong Mochen were collectively shocked to see him stepping out of the car holding a woman.
Rong Mochen remained unperturbed, nodding slightly to the people as he passed by, holding Jin Jumo as he walked towards the VIP building.
Everyone exchanged bewildered glances, seeing confusion mirrored on each other’s faces.
Rong Mochen placed the sleeping Jin Jumo on the wide bed in the presidential suite specially prepared for him in the VIP building, not hurried about leaving, but sitting beside her, quietly gazing at her face.
Knock, knock.
The bedroom door was knocked on.
Rong Mochen’s black eyes lowered slightly, glancing back at the person standing at the bedroom door.
"President, everyone is waiting for you." The woman’s voice was gentle yet calm.
Rong Mochen nodded and stood up.
The woman immediately approached, reaching out to smooth the slightly wrinkled shirt.
Rong Mochen frowned lightly, his tall figure slightly dodging, "I’ll do it myself."
The woman’s hand paused, a flash of awkwardness in her eyes before she pulled back.
Her lips pursed as she glanced at Jin Jumo on the bed; her gaze fixated on Jin Jumo’s face for two seconds and murmured, "This Miss Jin looks a lot like Miss Tang Ruan."
Rong Mochen’s eyes suddenly turned cold, an oppressive atmosphere instantly filling the space.
The woman’s expression tightened, hurriedly lowering her head, saying no more.
Rong Mochen took another look at Jin Jumo, his brows knitted tightly as he left the room.
The woman’s lowered eyelashes trembled fiercely, her lips pressed tight in whiteness, as she followed behind.
Jin Jumo had a dream, dreaming she was in a vast, endless field, filled with sunflowers, beautiful enough to take one’s breath away.
"Mommy..."
The soft and sweet child’s voice was like a fluffy cotton ball plugging her ears.
"Mommy..."
Jin Jumo wandered around the field searching for that voice.
"Mommy, mommy..."
Who?
Who was she calling?
Jin Jumo was somewhat anxious, inexplicably longing, flitting like a headless fly through the sunflower-laden field looking for the source.
"Mommy..."
Just as Jin Jumo was anxiously searching in vain, a soft tofu-like hand pinched one of her fingers.
Jin Jumo’s heart raced, her breath quickening as she looked down fiercely.
But before she could see clearly, the dream... ended.
Jin Jumo opened her eyes, moved the finger pinched in the dream, seemingly still able to feel that soft warmth.
Closing her eyes.
Jin Jumo found it somewhat amusing.
What was with her? Why did she suddenly have such a bizarre dream...
Wait...
Jin Jumo’s eyes flew open.
The unfamiliar environment before her eyes tightened her breath, and she hesitated, slowly sitting up in bed.
She remembered getting into someone’s car, being told she could sleep if tired, and then she did...
So now... where was she?
Jin Jumo examined the bedroom, the decor was grand and lavish but not homely, so was this a hotel?
Could it be she was already in Ju City?
But... how was she moved from the car to the hotel room?
In her confusion, the bedroom door suddenly opened from the outside.
Jin Jumo’s eyelids twitched slightly, looking up, her eyes flashing with puzzlement.
Unexpectedly, she had woken up, and the visitor was briefly surprised, quickly regaining composure, looking at Jin Jumo, "Hello Miss Jin."
Jin Jumo frowned slightly, her expression blank, "Hello, may I ask who you are?"
"Fu Mulan, President Rong’s special assistant."
His special assistant?
So she was indeed in Ju City now.
Jin Jumo took a deep breath, looking at the elegantly dressed, slightly cold-tempered "Mulan" before her.
"Where is Mr. Rong?"
"Mr. Rong is currently meeting with local leaders. Miss Jin has slept for quite a while, you must be hungry." Mulan paused, "What would Miss Jin like to eat? I’ll have it prepared immediately."
Slept for quite a while?
Jin Jumo’s face blushed, "Did I sleep for a long time?"
Fu Mulan raised an eyebrow, glancing at the quartz clock on the wall.
Jin Jumo felt uneasy and looked over.
Then she was stunned.
She was astonished to find it was already afternoon... two o’clock!
She had slept from around seven in the morning until two in the afternoon, without staying up late or engaging in any "special activities" the night before.
Jin Jumo awkwardly scratched her head, "Haha, I never realized I could sleep so much."
