CHAPTER 429: CHAPTER 404: SWEET EXTRA STORY: YOUR WIFE IS ABOUT TO GIVE BIRTH 2
His thin lips pressed together gently, and he softly asked, "Are you upset?"
"Hmph." Jin Jumo turned her head away. "You’re always like this, doing whatever you want without consulting me."
Was she really angry?
Rong Mochen looked at her tight-lipped profile, his dark eyes briefly showing a trace of helplessness.
A few minutes later, Rong Mochen pulled the car to the roadside, turned to look at Jin Jumo, and said, "Don’t be mad."
Out of his sight, Jin Jumo rolled her eyes.
What a half-hearted apology! Terrible!
Seeing Jin Jumo not responding, the not-so-experienced Rong Mochen was at a loss for words.
There was an awkward silence in the car for a minute or two.
Finally, Jin Jumo couldn’t hold it anymore, sighed softly in her heart, and turned to look at him.
Seeing that Jin Jumo was finally willing to look at him, a bright light clearly flashed in Rong Mochen’s eyes, and he gazed deeply at her.
"You want me to not be mad, right?" Jin Jumo said.
Rong Mochen nodded without hesitation.
"I won’t be mad, provided you promise me that you’ll consult with me before making any decisions in the future..."
Jin Jumo paused and added, "At least let me know what’s going on, don’t keep me in the dark."
Rong Mochen’s dark eyes flickered momentarily, and he nodded, "Okay."
Jin Jumo stared at him, "Really?"
"Yeah." Rong Mochen smiled.
Jin Jumo skeptically gazed at Rong Mochen for a while before finally relaxing and smiling at him, "But the names Xixi and Hanhan are pretty good."
Rong Moxi and Rong Mohan, they sound nice!
Rong Mochen smirked confidently and arrogantly as if telling Jin Jumo—just look at who I am, how could the names I choose not be good?
Jin Jumo immediately saw through his thoughts and smiled helplessly, "Can’t you be a bit modest?"
"Why should I be modest?" Rong Mochen said, suddenly leaning over to unbuckle Jin Jumo’s seatbelt. Even though Jin Jumo had gained quite a bit of weight in her fifth month of pregnancy, he effortlessly lifted her by the armpits.
Sitting on his firm thigh, Jin Jumo placed a hand on her chest, looking at him with a grievance, mumbling, "Every time with the sudden ambush!"
Rong Mochen placed a hand gently on her noticeably rounded belly, looking at Jin Jumo with kindness, "Do you think it could be two this time as well?"
Jin Jumo laughed at him, "Twins aren’t that easy to have."
Rong Mochen didn’t comment.
Watching him lower his eyes and gently stroke her belly, Jin Jumo couldn’t help but ask curiously, "Rong Mochen, do you want the little one in my belly to be a boy or a girl?"
"A girl," Rong Mochen replied without hesitation.
"..." Jin Jumo was startled, "Why?"
"No reason," Rong Mochen said.
Jin Jumo bit her lip, suddenly thinking of the interaction between him and Hanhan.
Whenever the father and son were alone, silence prevailed.
To this day, Hanhan refused to call him Dad.
And Rong Mochen wasn’t inclined to drop his parental authority, so when Hanhan didn’t approach him, he didn’t take the initiative to bridge the gap.
Seeing this gave Jin Jumo a headache. She wasn’t sure if they were father and son or bitter rivals!
So Jin Jumo figured that the reason Rong Mochen instinctively wanted a daughter might have something to do with Hanhan’s aloofness.
Thinking about it, Jin Jumo couldn’t help but smile at Rong Mochen and say, "Honey, are you biased toward girls over boys?"
Rong Mochen gave Jin Jumo a look, "Nonsense."
"Then why do you want a daughter instead of a son?" Jin Jumo wrapped her arms around his neck, asking teasingly, "Is it because Hanhan hasn’t called you Dad yet, and you think a son would be the same, so you want a daughter?"
Rong Mochen again gave Jin Jumo a look and said indifferently, "A daughter would resemble you."
Jin Jumo was stunned, and when she realized his implication, her heart felt so sweet it was about to melt.
So, it’s not that he doesn’t like sons but rather that he thinks a daughter would resemble her, and that’s why he wants a daughter.
Touched, Jin Jumo cupped his face, rubbing her nose against his prominent nose, and whispered, "But I want a son, one that looks like you, just like Hanhan."
Rong Mochen looked into her rosy eyes, leaning in to kiss the corner of her lips, "Silly."
In the blink of an eye, Jin Jumo was over eight months pregnant, her belly enormous.
If it weren’t for Doctor Ning confirming that there weren’t twins in her belly, she’d almost believe she was carrying two little ones again this time.
Just after the New Year, every company seems to have started the busy pace of the new year.
Rong Mochen has been leaving early and returning late recently.
This evening, Jin Jumo with her large belly sat on the sofa, the living room was kept at a constant temperature, yet sweat kept pouring from her forehead, making her restless.
Rong Zhengfeng was playing with Xixi Hanhan, and when he noticed the anomaly with Jin Jumo, he was instantly startled, quickly sat up straight and looked at Jin Jumo, "Momo, why are you sweating? Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?"
Jin Jumo furrowed her brow, a faint pallor on her face, looking anxiously at Rong Zhengfeng, "I’m fine, Grandpa."
"You certainly don’t look fine." Rong Zhengfeng was worried, "I’ll call Ning Wenqing right away and have him come over to check."
Jin Jumo didn’t object.
In fact, she felt her abdomen was bloated, occasionally experiencing slight pains, accompanied by feelings of anxiety.
Rong Mochen returned from outside with snow all over him, seeing Rong Zhengfeng anxiously calling Ning Wenqing, while Jin Jumo was slumped in the sofa with her body trembling.
Rong Mochen’s heart sank abruptly, he took a few steps forward, discarded his leather gloves, and held Jin Jumo’s trembling hand, his dark eyes fixed, "What’s going on?"
"Honey, you’re back." Jin Jumo struggled to maintain herself, her face pale as she looked at Rong Mochen.
"Are you uncomfortable? Tell me, where does it hurt?" Rong Mochen breathed steadily.
"... I, ah..." Suddenly, Jin Jumo cried out softly, one hand suddenly gripping Rong Mochen’s arm, sweat dripping heavily from her forehead, "Honey, my stomach hurts, ah... it’s getting worse..."
"Is it time for labor?"
Tan Yu, who was cooking dinner in the kitchen, heard the commotion in the living room, hurriedly ran out, seeing Jin Jumo in distress with her facial expressions twisted by pain, she immediately thought of this possibility.
Rong Mochen’s back shook violently, the clear panic swept through his dark pupils as he looked at Jin Jumo, "Is, is it time?"
"Ah... it hurts." Jin Jumo’s voice carried a sob.
Rong Mochen’s adam’s apple rolled slightly, yet he still stared at Jin Jumo without moving.
Rong Zhengfeng was burning with anxiety, desperately wanted to hit him with a cane, angrily shouted, "You foolish child, what are you standing dumbfounded for? Your wife is about to deliver, get her to the hospital!"
"..." Rong Mochen’s pupils shrunk heavily, he took a deep breath, suddenly coming to his senses, his face tense as a rock, he picked up Jin Jumo and dashed out of the villa.
At the hospital, it had already been three hours since Jin Jumo was pushed into the delivery room.
Rong Mochen stood at the door of the delivery room like a pillar, immovable, for three hours.
During this time, the nurses went in and out of the delivery room, they could always hear Jin Jumo’s hoarse cries of pain coming from inside.
Each scream was like a soul-snatching sound hammering at Rong Mochen’s ears, his whole body was as tense as a statue, each line on his face pulled straight, his deep red eyes intensely fixed on the delivery room door.
Another two hours passed, the child was still stubbornly staying inside the mother’s belly, refusing to come out.
The nurse had suggested multiple times that Rong Mochen could enter the delivery room to accompany Jin Jumo, but each time, Rong Mochen’s response was a cold stare.
The nurse couldn’t quite understand Rong Mochen.
It seemed like he wasn’t anxious about the mother-to-be, yet he was clearly worried and concerned to the extreme.
But to say he was anxious, he still refused to enter the room to accompany the mother-to-be!
In the end, the nurse had evidently given up trying to persuade Rong Mochen to enter the delivery room to accompany Jin Jumo.
Rong Zhengfeng anxiously waited at home for several hours, but did not receive a call from Rong Mochen reporting that mother and child were safe. More worryingly, there was no response when he called Rong Mochen’s mobile.
Unable to endure the inner anxiety any longer, Rong Zhengfeng had Li Li send him to the hospital late at night.
At the delivery room door, seeing Rong Mochen’s stiff wooden posture, Rong Zhengfeng felt both heartache and anger, "You foolish child, what good is it standing here? Momo needs you the most right now, shouldn’t you be inside cheering her on? What are you trying to do?"
Rong Mochen’s face was so taut that he looked somewhat agitated, his eyes slowly shifted from the delivery room door to Rong Zhengfeng’s face, his voice was extremely hoarse, "Grandpa, I’m afraid."
"Wh-what?" Rong Zhengfeng was stunned, staring incredulously at Rong Mochen.
What did he just say?
He’s afraid?
Rong Mochen’s adam’s apple rolled again, he said nothing more, shifted his gaze back to the door.
Rong Zhengfeng sighed softly in his heart, unable to control the anxiety and worry inside him, frowning as he looked at Rong Mochen, "What good does it do to be afraid, I ask you? You’re afraid but isn’t Momo even more afraid right now? She needs you more than ever! You foolish child, you should be inside with her, giving her strength. This is the time Momo needs you more than ever, if you let your inner cowardice prevent you from being by her side now, wouldn’t Momo be heartbroken? I’m telling you, if you don’t go in now, you’ll regret it with guilt forever!"
Rong Mochen’s dark eyes quivered, the words "now is the time Momo needs you the most" echoed in his ears.
Now is the time she needs him most!
He should be by her side now!
Rong Mochen clenched his fist, just about to step forward, when suddenly the door of the delivery room opened from inside, a loud baby’s cry rang out like a triumphant victory trumpet.
Rong Mochen staggered forward, fortunately, Rong Zhengfeng swiftly grabbed him, or else it would have been the most humiliating fall of Rong Mochen’s life!
