CHAPTER 10: CHAPTER 10 HE NEEDED ANSWERS

Those words caught Caden completely off guard

London?

In the UK?

In Europe?

He had thought that even if there was a possibility that she had left the school premises already, he guessed she might’ve gone home to her mom.

How could she have gone to another continent just like that?

“Why? How? What is she doing there?”Caden asked in disbelief.

Her roommates got even more surprised.

“You really don’t know? She transferred to Royal academy arts school. She previously got an offer from them.”

At that moment, Caden felt like he was going mad.

She didn’t just leave him, she left the country.

He thought he had her and everything under control but she completely took over the game and beat him to it.

“But...but what about the Tisch spot? Did she really have no interest in it?”

“She didn’t.”Eve replied. “She had always dreamt of studying at Royal academy in London but she considered giving up on that dream when she started dating you.”

Caden blinked.

She had really been in love with him, to the point of wanting to give up her dream.

While he was playing with her feelings, she genuinely loved him.

Caden stood there, feeling like he had lost something he could never replace.

His face paled.

He couldn’t understand how it was so easy for her to leave him.

“How can she leave just like that?”He murmured.

Eve and Fiona felt sorry for him.

Fiona chipped in.”She actually made up her mind to go to London just a few days ago. Seeing that you aren’t aware of it, you guys must have had a massive fight.”

Caden just stood there, like a statue.

“I heard you were at the lake waiting for her. Were you hoping to make things right before she left?”

He didn’t even know what to say.

He felt played.

He felt abandoned.

He felt helpless.

While he felt he had her wrapped around his fingers, she was ten steps ahead, already planning how to ditch him.

He turned around and ran.

Maybe, just maybe he still had a chance to make things right.

Maybe she hadn’t left yet. Maybe she was waiting for him to stop her. There was always this kind of magical plane delays in movies.

He had to show up in time and give her reasons to stay with him.

He had to make her understand that something had changed.

He wasn’t the same person who had started this cruel game.

Caden got into his car and drove off, speedily. He knew he was going to get lots of tickets for his speed.

He screeched to a halt in front of the airport and ran inside.

“The...the flight to London, has it left already?”

“Yes, it left an hour ago.”

Those words broke him but he still felt he had hope as he ran around the terminal, searching for her and hoping she had changed her mind about leaving and was waiting for him to come romantically stop her.

But thirty minutes later, Caden realized that life wasn’t a movie.

There was no sign of her. He still couldn’t reach her on phone.

She had really left.

He pathetically left the airport.

He barely remembered driving back to campus. His mind replayed every moment with Alora in excruciating detail.

Was any of it even real?

Did she truly care about him?

Did she know about the bet from the beginning and that was why she decided to beat him to it and leave him crestfallen?

He headed back to the lake, he wandered around for a while before finally sitting on the dock.

He stayed there until night fell.

Some other set of people came by and took notice of him.

They recalled the earlier news about Caden getting stood up by Alora.

And now seeing him sitting here, miserably, they began to gossip.

Caden could clearly hear them as they walked away.

“Did Caden Steele just get dumped? His girlfriend never showed up.”

“I heard she left for London. He really got dumped.”

The gossip made him feel more miserable. He had never gotten dumped before.

He had never gotten refused.

He had always gotten everything he wanted. Since he was born, he was handed everything. People literally felt blessed and lucky to be able to approach him.

But now, a girl had cruelly abandoned him.

A girl he had wanted to use.

She left him feeling used instead.

Caden continued sitting here, not knowing what he was waiting for exactly.

He knew perfectly well that Alora was miles and miles away by now.

But still, he couldn’t bring himself to leave.

She wasn’t coming but he kept on looking at the sky, as if he could get answers to calm the storm in his raging heart.

His mind raced with questions.

If she had previously given up on her dream to London, why did she pick up the dream again?

Why didn’t she confront him about the video she had seen?

Did the video absolutely crushed her?

Did the video of him kissing Brielle destroy her feelings for him?

But that video was from last night.

She clearly had made plans to travel earlier than that.

It wasn’t even possible to plan everything in one night.

He recalled the transfer papers he had seen.

Yeah, she definitely planned this a week or two weeks ago.

But why?

What made her change her mind at that time?

Was it because of that party?

When they played truth or dare and he didn’t stand up for her?

He had wanted to but he didn’t want his friends to suspect anything so he stood up for Brielle instead.

It was because he was still hellbent of maintaining this reputation of his.

He felt she had discovered something worse.

She must have found out about the bet.
